Not one office would take her, some even said it didnt sound like an emergency and most said she needed to see her pcp first. I couldn't believe it. The 13th phone call was UVA, I was transferred to Kate. She heard the frustration and fear in my voice and booked an appointment that day. She reassured that they would take a look and see what was going on. Once she was seen by Kate and Dena, we found out shortly after that this was in fact an emergency situation. Dena and Kate jumped into action and ordered all tests done stat and surgery was scheduled shortly after. Kate, Dena, Dr Beardsley, Dr Washington, Dr Winick worked friviously to get everything done quickly and prepare for my mothers procedure. When Dr Washington and Dr Winick were faced with complications during her surgery they did everything possible to keep my mother alive and it worked! We are forever grateful! I called his office and they told me I'd have to wait a month just to have a consult with him and that I'd have to drive out to Manasses - which was odd since he has offices closer to where I live. When I informed Dr. Hashemi about all of this, he got genuinely angry. He told me that new patients or patients in dire need were to be seen right away. He went a step further, and handed me a list of people to email about this issue so it wouldn't keep happening. It was at this point that I really liked and trusted this man implicitly. Ordinarily I would have had to come in again just to have my ultra-sound on my arm, but he insisted on doing it that day. And after a 20 minute wait, that happened. They scheduled my procedure and back home I went. On the day of the surgery, he specifically pushed my procedure to first. I felt special.
