Here's the negative, I went in for a cut, I showed the stylist two photos (different styles) and she said it was basically the same cut. I was cutting about six inches off my hair, she shampooed, cut and curled my hair and it looked fine. A few days later I shampooed and tried to style my hair, the layers and bangs were uneven, I called and they got me back in so the stylist could fix the issues. She seemed a bit flustered but did she see some problems with the cut and she tried to fix it. The next day I washed my hair and it is still uneven. I am now at another salon hoping to get a someone that can fix the issues and give me a cut that I can feel confident in.

Unfortunately I didn't take a photo of the back of my hair but I got so many compliments tonight. I was for sure looking gorgeous

TLDR: My super healthy, long hair has been damaged beyond repair by this salon and it will take…read moreyears to grow out. I've spent a couple of months thinking through how to write this review, because I didn't want to give criticism until I was absolutely sure about what went wrong. But even after all this time I am suffering from the results of my balayage here. First of all, I have been getting my long, dark brunette hair balayaged for 6 years. I am not a newbie to this. I've had everything from light blond balayage to purple, and my hair has remained healthy through the expertise of stylists and olaplex. I had recently moved from NYC and read amazing reviews about this salon, so I booked an appointment. I carefully explained exactly what I wanted to my stylist: a subtle, dark mahogany balayage only lifted 2 levels to minimize damage. I should have known something was going catastrophically wrong when the stylist insisted on putting my bleached/processing hair under a heat lamp for 40 minutes. She definitely brought my dark brown hair up way beyond two levels, and it's most reflected in how extremely damaged my hair is now. It is brittle, breaking, and constantly looks like a giant frizzy knot now. I've tried everything to restore some health - olaplex treatments, protein and hydrating treatments - but it's at the point where my hair is damaged beyond help. The only option is years of regrowing it out, or cutting it all off. I probably would not feel as bad about the damage if the highlights and color came out good - but it did not. My stylist's first attempt at the toner turned my hair a horrifying, streaky vampire/clown/fire engine red (see photo for reference). Red flag #2 was when she told me this looked great and sent me home. Well, when I got home I realized it was unacceptable and asked her to retone it, which she agreed to do, though she seemed a bit defensive when I came back a couple days later. With help from her manager, she retoned it and it turned out better, but still streaky. I accepted that this was as good as it would get. But I feel like I made a $250+ mistake coming here. My stylist clearly wasn't experienced enough working with dark brunette hair.

I visited this shop around 6 or 7 times. The first few visits with one stylist abruptly ended when…read moreshe made a major mistake and I had to request a correction. When I pointed out the mistake, she said she would no longer do my hair, and referred me to another stylist. This was insulting but I nevertheless scheduled a correction appointment with the 2nd stylist who explained the error made by the first stylist, why my hair looked like it did, and how she could fix it. Even though Stylist 1 made the mistake which was clearly conveyed by Stylist 2, I decided to let the 1st stylist off the hook and paid for a consult rather than having a correction on her proverbial 'record'. There was nothing the 2nd stylist could do to fix it at that moment anyway and I didn't want any awkward encounters with the other stylist going forward. I just wanted her to fix my hair and then maintain it. After 3 visits with Stylist 2, my hair was 'fixed' and we were humming along. There were a few more mistakes made but nothing major and I never said anything about them. Stylist 2 indicated it would be getting easier since she'd mapped out exactly where to apply the color going forward. When I attempted to schedule my 7th visit, the salon said they were going to have to increase my fees to a full custom color rather than the partial foil I'd received in the prior 6-7 visits. I had been getting a reverse highlight applying color to small sections (low-lights, basically) which was considered (by Hendrix) to be a partial foil from Day 1. I argued that neither the process nor the time involved had changed and I saw no reason to increase my already top tier fee. I was also frustrated at being rescheduled 3 times and it was seeming as though they would rather lose a client than continue to do my hair. I'm really disappointed because my hair was getting really good and I was excited for the next visit but they rescheduled two appointments and then with the third call to AGAIN reschedule and push my appt further out, sprang the price increase on me...and that was the last straw. Their response when I indicated I would not be rescheduling their latest cancelation was "we understand your decision". You understand my decision? You didn't even make any effort to help me understand yours. And I just want to note that I didn't mention the names of the two stylists because I'm not vindictive and I don't believe in public shaming of anyone regardless of the circumstances but suffice it to say I definitely did not feel valued as a customer. If that changes, I'll let ya know.

Sunspa is a full on salon, with a small oxygen bar out front perfect for anyone waiting for their appointment to get a quick fix. For $1/min, they provide disposable nosehoses and recommend between 10-30min at a time. It has 4 seperate scents and can run 2 people at a time. We paid for 5x10, and took turns in shifts. Since the machine was running anyways for the 5th, they let one of us go again for free. Its easy to swap pipes (not nosehoses eww) so we can all try all the flavors. The scents are very light, and you can barely feel the air, but overall it was a relaxing environment. They also sell bottled oxygen for anyone extremely sensitive to high altitude or planning on doing alot of vertical hiking. #PINAPARTY2019
