    trellis fence

Creative Fence constructed a trellis fence and another picture frame one in the back yard plus 2 gates. I was impressed by the attention to detail Constantin gave to the planning and the materials to be used. The finished project has been remarked on by carpenters, landscapers and the neighbors for its beauty and quality of construction. As will happen, several issues came up that Constantin handled efficiently. I now live in Portland.

I am in SW Portland and I had Creative Fences and Decks redesign and replace the deck, build both a cedar horizontal slat fence with gates and a less visible chain link fence. From start to finish I was happy with their workmanship, communication and dedication. I had people working here for over 3 weeks and every one of them was nice to have around. The ipe deck was designed with Michael and fits our needs perfectly. John, who built the deck with others, was meticulous and thorough. I would highly recommend them!

No "why didn't anything happen today". Detail craftsmanship. They made pull out inserts and other custom cabinetry and the craftsmanship is top notch. Clean up at the end of the day. From our very first consultation with Ed Parsons in his Oregon City office, to a cite visit by him and the crew doing the work, every detail in the process was handled courteously and professionally. Quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident in every step. We had our kitchen/great room done, as well as our master bathroom 6 months later. Both jobs were completed in the agreed upon time frame and solidly on budget. Every single crew member arrived on time each morning and didn't leave until everything was cleaned up in the evening. Ed was also there throughout the whole process and answered every question we had (even the stupid ones) with patience and expertise. The custom made knotty alder cabinetry in the kitchen and bathroom are exquisite and exceeded our expectations of quality and pride of craftsmanship. We moved into our ICON-built home in Canby just over 2 months ago; we are so pleased with it…read more This was to be a multi-generational house so before signing papers my Dad drew up plans for many changes and ICON cheerfully incorporated all of them into the blueprints. We lived nearby and Dad would come to watch the progress ICON was making and often remarked at the high quality of construction and materials. We especially admire the workmanship in the cabinetry. (The superintendent, Russ, deserves special mention--Dad enjoyed working with him. Sarah, also, was so very helpful.)

Update: Since posting my original review, Icon reached out to discuss my concerns. I appreciated…read morethe opportunity to speak with them and hoped we could find a path toward a reasonable resolution. Unfortunately, the conversation reinforced my concerns. Rather than discussing possible solutions, the focus was on explaining why the issues weren't covered under the one-year warranty and why I shouldn't have posted my review. I understand that warranties have limits, and I wasn't asking for lifetime maintenance. My concern is that an approximately $1 million home should not have overflowing gutters after three years or significant cedar siding warping after only eight years without the builder showing some willingness to help. What disappointed me most was being made to feel like my expectations were unreasonable rather than having my concerns acknowledged. At one point, I was told that because the warranty had expired, this was simply "how it works." The phone call was fully recorded for clarity. Everyone is free to draw their own conclusions, but I believe a builder's commitment to quality doesn't end the day the warranty expires. Customer service is measured by how a company responds when problems arise, not just when everything goes according to plan.

We felt this could greatly improve our home, and a designer was needed to get the best return on the work. Kaitlyn was essential to our process. Preparation is Key. We used photos and ideas from magazines, websites and other sources to show your designer. We started by identifying our "needs" and "wants". Then we went to determine what's most important to you to help manage costs. The team walked through each item on our list to understand function and cost. We went shopping to look at fixture options. Having a general idea of the fixtures you like (tubs, sinks, etc.) is helpful, as their dimensions affect the design. It's best establish a budget range so the designer can make recommendation. Kaitlyn helped us through the process, and we went over budget so my tips may help. She offered alternatives however we like what we like. The best part of the process was the communication. The portal used to send updates worked great. Kaitlyn allowed us to express our ideas, preferences, and concerns clearly and honestly. She took all of that and worked out a layout that was far beyond our dreams. She kept us actively involved in the design process and provide timely feedback. All the right steps were taken during the design process. TheRemodelGroup maintained open communication with us and helped us create a beautiful and functional bathroom design that hopefully will meet our needs and enhance our home.

THE Remodel Group will be our first and only call for all future work we have done on our house…read more They were clear about what they could do and what things would cost for our bathroom remodel. They followed through and met all the goals we mutually set. What really impressed me was how they accommodated some special needs we had. For medical reasons, I have to be able to take a bath approximately every 72 hours, though 48 is better. They made sure to set things up so that I never had to go more than three days without tub access. We did have a problem with one supplier, Kohler. They sent two subtly different colored shower wall panels. Though we looked at them outside before installation, because we hadn't checked them side by side once indoors, we didn't realize the mistake after installation took place. Kohler not only sent the wrong colored panels, they continued to shoot past every single delivery date they gave us for months. We were supposed to get the panels at the end of November. They didn't arrive until March and it upped the cost of the project because THE Remodel Group had to demo out what was first installed and then install the proper product. Because I approved what we saw before it was installed, they could have told me "Not our problem, you need to pay for it," but they didn't. They cut their rate for the demo and reinstall to labor only. Even months after the project was done, THE Remodel Group continued to advocate on our behalf for Kohler to reimburse us for that extra cost and yesterday, Steve delivered the check in person. While the project did have delays, it was out of THE Remodel Group's hands. Every single person I've ever talked with about having a contractor work on the house has had horror stories about their contractors. While we did have a problem with the project, THE Remodel Group was absolutely perfect. We recommend them to anyone and everyone. They will be our first and only call when we want to remodel our other bathroom and kitchen in the future.
