If second opinion confirms need for cataract surgery, get it done by someone else! He is very good at convincing you that he is competent. He is not! Beware! He left me with permanent damage to my eye due to rushing my surgery when he was 2 1/2 hours behind schedule because he schedules 14-16 surgeries every other Monday. Specialist said damage done cannot be reversed. Stay away from this doctor!

Called to schedule initial exam and when the person answering the phone asked about insurance…read moreinformation (after collecting my personal information... appx 2 minutes in to the call) I confirmed yes, I have VSP vision insurance through "x" company (well-known/respected Texas-based company) she explained my options as provide member ID (which I didn't have immediately), full social security number or self-pay. I opted self-pay so as to get the appointment scheduled and planned to follow-up with the member ID. (sharing full social security number is not an options these days) I was told then that the initial appointment would be self-pay and that I could file for reimbursement myself; future visits would be with insurance following verification by some other department they would have to sent my information out to. I told them I would call them back. Reached out to VSP to confirm benefits myself and to obtain the member ID that should be used for filing claims and then called Dr. Bealka's office back. I shared with the person answering that I was calling back to finish scheduling my appointment, that I didn't have my member ID for insurance when I called earlier... she put me on hold, and left me there, for over 6 minutes. At one point, it rang back to them as a reminder that someone was holding and rather than picking up and quickly explaining the delay or asking that I continue to hold, my call was picked up and immediately placed back on hold. I continued to hold, and when it rang back again, I went to their automated answering recording, at which point I hung up. Dr. Bealka may be very talented and caring, or he may be a horrid provider, but he will never be given a chance by me to find out. I tend to believe that birds of a feather truly do flock together and if he would tolerate this type of rude and unprofessional behavior from his staff, I have NO interest in being his patient. I will spend my money elsewhere.

Front desk service is rude and horrible. They raised the prices for service without telling me and…read moregave me the most expensive prescription for contacts. They didn't let me know how much it would be until after the appointment. It used to be $19, and it was almost $160. When I said that they should have let me know the price upfront, she loudly announced that I couldn't afford my appointment. Then her and the other lady sat there making rude comments about me back and forth to each other. After they gave me a cheaper prescription and I paid, and went to leave, she announced that I could order contacts, but I probably can't afford those either. I was so humiliated, I started crying, and she just smirked and said " see, I don't start problems." Some of the staff are really nice, but I will NEVER go back.

If they are not happy with what medicare pays for they should leave the medicare platform and not force us to pay extra for a service because they do not like what medicare pays. I walked in right on time. Filled out a short new patient form, handed it back within a few minutes I was called over for a quick check then the doctor took me right away. The doctor was nice and quick. I didn't feel rushed at all, I was in there maybe 15-20 minutes TOP! The price is amazing, plus you leave with a free pair of contacts if you get the glasses & contact special. I have definitely found my new eye doctor.
