I have even paid to have my daughter on concierge service plan in past because I trusted Dr Vu so much. After I finally did some research I realized that I could pay optical insurance out of pocket for a minimal fee (my current work provides no medical benefits) so I happily called Look to schedule my appointment. I was told I would pay the $15 co-pay and a $39 back of eye scan (not a required thing at most drs it's optional). I specifically asked if there was a contact fitting fee as I assumed there would be and the person on the phone said no. I drove to the office which is now further from home in the middle of my work day and was told the total was over $100..close to $150 I believe. I questioned the cost and they explained to me there is an $89 contact lens fitting fee. I said well that's odd because I was informed of the total and booked and drove there based on what I was told on the phone $15 and $39. I am not one to make excuses but I had just legitimately double paid my marketplace health insurance (not cheap) the day before and my account was not in great shape because it was before my next payday so I explained this and also that I was not told the right thing. Instead of showing any level of sympathy or concern for me and my circumstances as a long standing patient (and someone who has paid them thousands of dollars over the years), the option given to me? "You need to reschedule"..I walked out frustrated and saddened by my experience but I sat in my car for a moment and decided no, this was not my fault and they should be more accommodating so I went back in after already feeling embarrassed by how I was dealt with. So I opted to use my contact lense allowance to cover the add'l fee meaning I gave up an extra $30-50 for contacts. Fine..I could be seen. This experience didn't feel completely normal probably because of a combination of my embarrassment (bc I am a responsible adult) and the shortness of Dr Vu which was maybe frustration. But I got seen and was put in a higher level prescription bc my eyes are sadly getting worse. So now I start wearing the trial pair and after a couple of weeks, it's just awful despite buying readers that I was instructed to buy. I call back and ask about my options because this one clearly is not working. Well I can be seen again but the fitting fee for multi focals is more so now I need to pay an additional $46 for a new fitting (and I guess pray it works bc every time I go in there seems to be some new fee) and also order the more expensive lenses out of pocket because reminder I used my allowance for the fitting fee the first time. I don't know what has happened..maybe the break in or whatever but if you want to pay high fees because you are wealthier than I, have at it! I'm certain that someone else will treat me with more respect and care because I feel very disheartened by this experience and now I have been treated/made to feel after so many years and faith in the practice.

I kind of rolled my eyes, because it sounded too good to be true. But I tried it at her recommendation and I will say, I was impressed at first. The customer service was top notch and like nothing I had ever experienced at an optometrist office. I was not expecting to spend $1,000 on glasses but I did. Dr. Paul took his time and you could tell he really cared and was passionate about his profession. The equipment and technology was cool too. I felt like I was in a science museum. That was my first visit. The second visit was good too, and my eyesight hadn't changed. Dr. Paul brought up contacts but I told him that contacts made my eyes itch and he asked me about the kind I had prior and I shared reusable. He recommended daily contacts. I tried on a trial and liked them. I had also mentioned LASIK and he gave me a recommendation for a specialist that he trusted. Here's where things go south--I decide to get contacts. I ask, "what's the difference between getting an annual supply vs. a 3 month supply?" The lady says not a difference really it's just that the annuals are slightly cheaper. Since I was considering LASIK, I asked her what the price was for a 3 month supply? She said $99 and I said, "okay and if I get more contacts in 3 months, how much will it be?" She said it'll only be $99 and repeated that it was only cheaper if I did annual but it'd be the same price for another 3 month supply. This was about 3 months ago. So I send a text the day after Memorial Day asking for an invoice for another 3 month supply. I'm now told it's $250 not $99. I told the lady that I was confused, because the price is more than double the price. I called the office because sometimes things are better said over phone than text. The lady answers and I share with her what happened and she puts me on hold for about 15 minutes to ask her manager. She tells me that the manager Marisol (I think that's what she said her name was) is out to lunch and she'll give me a call back. I didn't receive a call back but a text message saying they apologize for the miscommunication on their end but it was always $250 and the insurance made it $99 and I'd need to wait until 2024 to get more contacts if I wanted to pay $99. I asked for what I was told initially to be honored and was told that the manager, Dr. Paul would not honor it and to let them know if I needed anything else. So you tell me one price, it isn't accurate and instead of honoring it or meeting me halfway, it's more of a too bad, so sad response. I'm always surprised how business owners will lose dollars, trying to save pennies. Nevertheless, I no longer recommend this practice as telling a client one price and then changing on them later isn't in integrity. If you decide to go here, I'd recommend getting all charges in writing. I'm sad to say that I will not be returning due to that bat and switch experience. -------------------- UPDATE: DR. PAUL MADE IT RIGHT. He also clarified some things, and I'm clear, happy and will continue coming back!!! Mistakes and miscommunications happen but how you handle them is what you sets you apart. I ordered some contact lenses and was told that if I liked the trial lenses he gave me better, I could exchange them. I work 60-80 hours per week, so it's hard to get in there to exchange them, because I did like the trial lenses better. After almost 7 months, I was able to finally get in there to exchange them. It was 2 unopened boxes of brand new lenses. It was a 90 day supply. They told me they would only exchange a year supply of lenses. I'll do my next exam there with the same optometrist, but I'll be happy to buy my lenses somewhere else. They are pretty proud of their contact lenses/glasses anyway and charge a premium for them. During our visit, I was told she could not be seen because of this. When I asked for clarification, I was told there are "places for those people." That response was both unprofessional and disheartening. I understand that not every office has the same level of training or experience, but there is a clear difference between appropriately referring a patient and how that message is communicated. No attempt was made to explore alternative testing methods or accommodations. After sharing my experience publicly, the office responded stating they did not have the training to examine my daughter and chose not to proceed because they would not "do a good job." Families deserve to be treated with respect, even when a provider may not be the right fit. I hope this feedback encourages more awareness and better communication in the future.

She is also very passionate on helping myopia treatment for the young kids. It's hard to find a doctor that can do it all and this one is the one.
