Vision One isn't some hoity toity spa like practice trying to sell you on bells and whistles. They're no bullshit, direct, and to the point -- exactly what you want when it comes to your eyes. I live in the city but made the trip out to Arlington Heights for my consult, then went to their Lombard location for the surgery about two and a half weeks later, and came back to Arlington Heights the next day for the post op. Totally worth it. From start to finish, everything moved efficiently but never felt rushed. On the day of surgery, they took their time with the preoperative steps, did another full workup, checked my corneas again, and the surgeon personally evaluated me before getting started. That gave me real peace of mind. People kept insisting I would need a Valium or something to calm my nerves, but I didn't need it at all. The team was calm, confident, and made me feel completely safe. When it was time, the actual procedure felt like it took three minutes, and that was it. They made sure I understood everything before and after surgery, gave me a full kit with everything I needed, and treated me with respect the whole way through. Now I can see so crystal clear, I'm babying my eyes like they're made of gold. It feels illegal to see this perfect. Already hit 20/20 the day after surgery and looking forward to hitting that 20/15 soon. For the price, it is a no brainer. This is not a big box conveyor belt type of place. Dr. Brandt has been my optometrist since I was about 12. I really like him and trust him with my (and my husband's eyes) entirely. He is very nice but ALSO keeps up with the latest trends. I really appreciate that. His office staff is also very pleasant and certainly competent. I am very happy to wholeheartedly recommend Vision One if you need an optometrist in the northwest Chicago suburban area. On January 13, 2023 I had a 12:45pm appointment. The receptionist shouted for my personal info while I was entering which I found unprofessional. Then she checked me in and told me to wait. After waiting more than 30 mins I asked for an ETA since I went during my lunch break. She was rude, aggressive, and unprofessional. Then continued to tell me how she was doing me a favor, I made the appointment and cancel/rescheduled when I couldn't make it. And paid for everything prior hand. The company needs to reevaluate her placement and should find someone who isn't on her phone while working with client/patients. Moreover, the doctors was as well very unprofessional. While telling him about what happen as I believe he was in charge he shush me and then told me that the bad reviews on yelps are because of the surgeon mother. Which is unprofessional and not needed to be said. From my experience, I think the staff was great, the doctors as well. Dr. Burger & Brand were great guys and funny. But the younger doctor and the receptionist ruin the business due to the lack of professionalism. read more

Man oh man did I want to meet Dr. Brand so badly. I came here end of December in 2015 and again in 2016 ... in 2015, they were booked so I came back in 2016 to try and see Dr. Brand 2 weeks before the holidays... A few days before my surgery I get a call that they cannot schedule me in (overbooked). It was so unfortunate because I bought the 2 prescription eyedrops (expensive) so I went to a competitor during the holidays... ended up paying $900 more but worth it because I realized Vision one uses a Blade while the other uses a laser to cut the cornea flap... In hindsight, I think it was best that I got rescheduled... 5/5 stars to the staff but 1/5 because Vision One didn't call me to reschedule ... I had called Vision One 3 days before my appointment to find out it was canceled. Eye just got my vision insurance and this is the closest location in my network. Very easy to make an appointment, and was able to get in quickly. They were ready for me when I walked in, and I didn't even need my vision insurance card as it was in their system. Vision One seems to be run or owned by William Brand and Jason Brand, but I'm not even sure which one I saw. Seem to be young guys, but know what they're doing. It had been a couple years since my previous eye exam, but they had some new equipment I hadn't seen before. The office seems clean and new. They don't look like they have anything old or outdated there. I say that because when it comes to vision, you really do want new technology, equipment, and even the styles and brands you buy. I had my PRK done with Vision One and had a fantastic experience. Everyone, from the reception ladies to the Lasik scheduler (Allison?) to the doctors themselves were pleasant and patient. The doctors answered all of my questions and listened to any concerns that I had. (The father) Dr. Brand did my initial consult/exam and was amazing at explaining Lasik vs. PRK, and I'm glad he did take the time to mention PRK (since I'd never heard of it) because on the day of my surgery, there was a last minute decision to go with PRK. I was a little bummed but felt knowledgeable (about PRK) and prepared for the change in type of surgery. The surgery itself went well. There were like 5-6 dudes in the operating room that were all "easy on the eyes" (pun intended) lol.. it was quick (about 15-30 seconds of looking at the light per eye) and painless. The doc does an eye exam after the laser part, then you're good to go. They supply you with post surgery safety goggles, sunglasses, a sampler of eye drops, and of course the prescription for the post surgery eye drops, which included a steroid and antibiotic eye drop, and optional "eye Tylenol" as they called it (for me, it was $50 out of pocket after insurance). You have a few follow up appointments which can be scheduled at any of their locations. I had all of mine at the Arlington Heights location and saw mostly the young Dr. Brand. Aside from not being able to open my eyes for a few days after PRK, my whole experience was pleasant, and I highly recommend Vision One to anyone for any of their ophthalmologic needs. read more

I am now 7 weeks post eye surgery and my vision is somewhat good enough for me to now leave a very long detailed review of my laser procedure at this practice. I want to just forewarn everyone that my vision is at best a blurry 20/30, with an incredible amount of residual (and added) astigmatism. Nothing I share in this review will be hyperbole, it is an accurate detail of my unfortunate experience with this practice, as I have detailed every moment with video and notes just for the sake of preventing others from suffering my same fate. If you are considering lasik with vision one, I implore anyone reading this review to please take in ALL the possibilities of what can happen during and after this procedure. I was not informed by the staff or doctors of what I would be experiencing, and I believe my entire experience to be a bait and switch. I was told I would be getting lasik then found out IN the surgery room I had to get PRK. Here is my story in detail: I first met with Dr Jason (the son) for my "consultation". He looked at my eyes and told me I would be a fine candidate for lasik (never mentioned PRK) and to schedule my appointment, which I did. They schedule MANY people on the same day and you will arrive with a herd of others on your surgery day. Please read my Lombard office review for my experience with the surgery. After 2 weeks of follow up visits and little progress Dr William (the dad) switched me to a more aggressive steroid drop (Durezol). I was informed that I HAD to have my eye pressure checked once a week as this drop could cause eye pressure to spike (glaucoma). Unfortunately at one of my checkups Dr. William wasn't in so I saw Dr Jason. He told me he wasn't going to check my eye pressure because it "doesn't matter" (again no hyperbole added here), and told me not to come in for another month. This did not sit well with me since I had a pounding headache that I was afraid was caused by my eyes, so I decided to find another doctor for a second opinion. When I went to the second doctor, I was SHOCKED to find out my eye pressure had spiked from 17 to 35! Anything above 22 is elevated and in glaucoma range. I immediately had to stop taking my steroid drops and start on a pressure lowering medication. Imagine if I had not gone in for a second opinion! This is complete negligence on Vision One's part. I have seen my new doctor for several weeks now. He has informed me of several things: the surgery made my astigmatism worse, from -1.25 before to -2.00 now, and that my eyes are almost completely done healing and that the astigmatism is unlikely to get better. I was told I will either need glasses, contacts, or another surgery. On top of this I am incapable of driving at night without glasses. I also require reading glasses to read anything up close, which was never an issue for me before. This place entices people in with a low price. But it is quantity over quality. You will spend mere minutes with a doctor. You will not get customized care. And by no means is it a good deal. Please keep in mind the cost of the eye drops needed after surgery are not included. I was told by Dr William that because of "Obamacare" they cannot provide coupons or samples for any eye drops. I was paying $200-$250 for a 2 week supply of drops (not covered by my blue cross insurance), on top of the rewetting drops you will need to purchase for at least several months, that are at least $10/box - (one box will last you a few days). And I should mention my new doctor was able to provide me with both coupons and samples so zero idea why Vision One could not. I did previously speak to Dr William on the phone and in person about everything stated here so none of this should come as any surprise. PLEASE anyone considering an eye surgery here: do your research, get lots of opinions, pick the BEST doctor you can find. It's worth spending more. I have spent at least an additional $1000 on a second opinion doctor and on additional medications. DO YOUR RESEARCH, and please take this review to heart. Originally wanted to do one eyes because I was so scared but when I got there the staff was so nice and friendly and Dr. Brand was 100% confident I would have 20/20 I ended up doing both eyes. The guy who scanned my eyes for the procedure (I didnt get his name) but he was super nice, he had to scan my right eye like 10 times because I kept blinking but he was so patient with me. The wait wasn't as long as people exaggerated because after everyone got their eyes scanned we watched a video, then the Dr meets with us to discuss some important points and after care instructions and then we beginning surgery. The procedure is only 5-10 mins. I am one week post op and I have 20/20 vision now and couldn't be happier that chose vision one lasik. read more

I'm effing blind. Today, on my most recent of many visits to the slick, fast-talking Dr. Brand, he actually informed me that I can't get any blinder. "It is physically impossible for you to be more nearsighted than you are now. Your worst-case scenario is a detached retina. Just keep your fingers crossed against that." I'm not a candidate for LASIK (my pupils are too wide, resulting in many hilarious drug-related comments over the years) so I'm stuck with contacts. Therefore I've been seeing Doc Brand for many years. I basically harbor a paranoiac distrust of medicine and medical professionals, but this guy's among the good ones. He's very straightforward in communicating with his patients, doesn't mince words or recommend BS treatments/products I don't need, and examines my poor shot-to-hell eyeballs quickly and gently. My eye exams usually take about ten minutes, although conversely the doctor often takes an obnoxiously long time getting to my appointment. Today I waited almost half an hour to even get into the exam room while he chatted with what appeared to be some pharmaceutical sales reps. Lame. When you ain't have no insurance, eye exams, contacts and the like are awfully expensive - this place is no exception. A three-month supply of lenses and the eye exam ran me two hundo. Pro-rated, that's still not too bad for the gift of corrected vision, and Dr. Brand is one of the more pleasant guys to buy it from. read more

I am really happy that I FINALLY got corrective eye surgery- like everyone says, I wish I did it years ago. I was nervous to use a company that has so many groupon and youswoop deals but Vision One Lasik has professional, accredited doctors who know that selective surgery is expensive and if you want clients, you've got to give them a deal. My surgery was done 1 year ago and I wanted to review it to be sure I was permanently happy with my new vision. I am! I had PRK (the older and less common type of lasik) because I have "special" eyes, so if you have to have this kind, they do it too. The surgery is practically the same. You are in the OR for less than 5 min- relax- the surgery is painless but weird because it is your eyes. The only thing that I did not like about the experience, is that the surgeon sees everyone right in a row. You wait in the pre-room with about 25 other people and he calls you in one at a time, you watch them come and go. You all get the same pre-surgery talk, etc. I gives you the feel of an assembly line. But that is the only negative thing I have to say. One great thing is that you get as many follow up appointments post-surgery as your eyes need; my eyes needed 5 and they were ALL covered by my youswoop at no additional cost. They also have many locations, so that's a perk. I am very happy that I got my surgery. read more

I just had my surgery Friday at 6:30 PM. It's 2 PM on Saturday and I already have 20/20 vision. This place is great, and the doctors were very friendly. The staff prepared desserts for us while we waited for our surgery, and the doctor even called this morning to see how I was feeling. Despite not having many reviews on yelp (and possibly having someone related to the business post a review as another yelper claims), I can personally attest to the quality of this facility as someone who actually had the surgery and didnt just police reviews. Dr. Burger has performed more than 65,000 operations, and has helped more patients achieve 20/20 vision than anyone else. I'm one of them. Thanks Groupon and thanks Vision One. read more

Terrible terrible terrible customer service I think I have ever experienced!!! First I want to say the Dr was nice during my short and first visit with him I was just in to have my eyes examined to get new glasses since I have not gotten new glasses for at least 10 years I've been wearing contacts After seeing the doctor I was sent out to the lobby to choose my frames well there was no help their Roberto I think his name was was all right but not overly friendly I almost felt like I was in his way like he had more important things to do than help me once I found a pair they charged me almost $700 dollars and said it will be a week or two until they are ready And they would call well that never happened!! I called for weeks no glasses when they were ready I came in and a tall blond women was there and boy was she rude!!! I have never experienced such attitude before she went and got my glasses and they were the wrong frames not the ones I chose over 2 weeks ago! I said these aren't the ones I chose and she said well this is what they had the they are similar like I was supposed to say ok and take them well I didn't and she said they no longer make the frames I wanted so I had to pick another pair which I did by myself and then again she said another two weeks to get them guess what I waited 3 weeks no calls nothing so I called and they were ready! Here's the kicker!! I come in and the blond women is there alone in back she comes up front with the same attitude again at this point I felt so offended I didn't even want to be there she went and got my glasses I tried them on and they literally were slipping off my face she says to me I'll try to adjust them and she went in back with them came back out and they were still not right and that I would have to live with them like that at this point with the attitude she had and the experience I had all I wanted to do is get out of there I took my $700 glasses and left!!! Just to let you know I took the glasses to another eye place to see if they can adjust them for me and they asked me how long I've had these glasses I said just got them they are brand new she said oh no they are not these look worn and used so I believe these were the sample frames many many people have been trying on and they sold them to me as new she did not even give me the new eye case that comes with the glasses she said she did not have one and gave me one of theirs with the doctors name in it Ugh I am so upset as you can see so just beware if you are going to go to this doctor watch out for their office staff especially the bond haired women she was terrible!!! read more

My follow up appointment to Lasik was a quick 10 minutes checkup at the Arlington Heights office, in and out with Dr. Brand. It was during this appointment that my vision was found to already be corrected to 20/20 and free of the irritation that lasted for a couple hours after surgery. In fact, the doctor promised me to go above and beyond my expectations and indicated that my vision would improve to 20/15 by the end of the summer. Now that I have had the time to truly verify the PROMISES made at this Vision One LASIK Center instead of just posing as fanboy proclaiming that its gonna be a bright, bright, sun shiney day - let me be blunt. Promises: 1) My vision will go from being barely able to see a computer screen to better than normal (20:15) two weeks after the surgery. 2) Post op night glare would improve so much that...I can see clearly now! 3) Hazy vision in dim light after the procedure would clear up These promises have all been kept. The staff at this location somehow knew my name and greeted me as I walked in, so that was a nice touch of professional customer service that merits the 5th elusive star. Thanks everyone! read more

I purchased the YouSwoop deal for $1,900 for LASIK in both eyes. First, let me say that I was very happy with the results (I'm seeing 20/15!) and whole experience. There are some reviews that bash VisionOne for 'long' waits, but I would be willing to wait days if it means I'll save $2,000! I have visited LASIK centers with friends, and they all operate the same way. VisionOne is very transparent about the waits (not even that bad - like 1-2 hours) and even offers free WiFi. Get over it, people! The point is, the doctors are knowledgeable, I'm seeing better than 20/20, and I probably won't ever need contacts again! I realize that the principle of getting LASIK 'on sale' might sound a little scary, but I'm SO happy I went with my gut after reading through all of the reviews. Price wise this is the cheapest I've seen the procedure at $1900 with the Groupon. I went for the consultation before I purchased the Groupon but I was still surprised that for such a large purchase for a Groupon that it was not a scam. LVI charged $3300 with a supposed 20% discount because the sun was shining. LASIK plus wanted my leg and $3750 also with a $600 discount because the sky is blue. You see and talk to the doctors more than other places that have you with a tech most of the time. Yes, you'll be there on the day of the surgery for 3-4 hours because they have people go in groups. The whole procedure takes about less than five minutes. I was able to see almost immediately. I even went out to eat afterwards. Discomfort is the best word to describe some of the unpleasant sensation regarding the surgery, but there is no pain. Two weeks later, I can see without any aid better than ever. You have to wear the goggles for a week while you sleep and take two eye drops four times a day as well, but that's no big deal. My vision is still improving as it takes a couple of months to fully heal. So I would definitely recommend going here unless you wanna pay double the price at LVI or LASIK plus. The procedure was scary (no pain), not going to lie, but they were fast and efficient. The few minutes it took for the procedure to be done was completely worth being able to see. Ok so this is part two of my review (part one is on Lombards page) The woman who works the front desk here needs a serious attitude adjustment. I called to see if I can get a weekend appointment and she said they don't have any. I told her most people work during the weekdays so it's hard to take off. She told me the Chicago location offers weekend appointments. So I googled the Chicago location and called them, asking for a weekend appointment. The same woman from AH picks up and says, with major attitude, "you JUST called me, I JUST told you that we don't have any weekend appointments". I told her that I definitely called the Chicago location and her response "ohh we take their calls for them. Here let me get the scheduler". Okay so if she knew that I was looking for a weekend appointment AND she told me to call the location, why wouldn't she just schedule a weekend appointment for me at the Chicago location??? And she was rude as hell. I told her not to bother because clearly everyone at vision one is miserable. Ps they put themselves on Groupon and don't have enough money to staff their doctors more than one or two days a week and clearly don't have enough administrative employees. Idk how people trust these guys with their eyes but I'd rather pay TRIPLE at a reputable location where the employees and doctors care about their patients than go to vision one. read more

I had lasik eye surgery here last summer and have been pleased with my results. I now see at 20/15 (prior to the surgery I wore glasses that were -5.5 and -5.25) and though my eyes are dry, I wouldn't change a thing. I will say this: the customer service isn't great and is the main reason I've given a 3 star, not higher. I went there with my child for an eye exam because he/she was complaining he/she doesn't see things clearly. I never wore glasses so I don't know how the procedure works. But after a quick exam they decided he/she needs prescription glasses. Not that I was happy but it is what it is... What came next was a total disappointment: They directed me to 2 small walls with samples and had us chose a frame. NO DIRECTIONS, NO HELP, NO SUGGESTIONS... Keep in mind, we were new to this and never had to deal with eyeglasses. We ended up choosing a frame and then they simply said "we will call you to come and pick up the glasses". My disappointment/complaint is that nobody gave a "* * * *" about us and about this new and important decision in a young child's life. And, no, they were not busy. *I am also leaving a review on this office because I had my Post Op follow up visit at the Arlington clinic* Seeing is a pretty big deal, and it is safe to say most people have an aversion to the thought of someone performing eye surgery. That being said, Lasik is very well established and has been around since the 90's. The technology is equally and important as the surgeon (Dr. Burger). I've read a lot of the reviews and a lot of them make valid points, but most are absolutely false. I have to admit that I almost backed out after reading some reviews, but I went through with it and I'm here to put you at ease. Here is what to expect if you go through this from Vision One: 1. Consultation with an Optometrist. You will have your measurements taken, go over the surgery, and receive a Rx for eye drops that will be needed post-operatively. BE AWARE: you will have your eyes dialated on this visit, so bring sunglasses and you may have difficulty seeing close objects. I took public transportation and this office is right off the Blue line. This small office is a "no frills" type of place but I can appreciate that's where the cost savings also comes into place. Dr. Brand was my optometrist and he was pretty honest and upfront. There is a lot of competition in the Lasik business and I asked my questions to see why I should have the procedure done with Vision One and why they could do it cheaper than anyone else. His answers clearly satisfied me and made me comfortable because I scheduled the surgery for 2 weeks later. 2. Either you will be called or you can call to schedule Lasik if you are a candidate. You will not be able to wear contact lenses for 1-2 weeks before the surgery! 3. Surgeries take place at the Lombard office and you will need to have someone pick you up. The staff is pretty friendly and they have this thing down to an art. Some people may give you a look when you tell them that you found this through Groupon, but I assure you that they are offering high quality and effective treatments with a process that allows them to effeciently see volume. Makes sense to me, and I frankly appreciated the transparency of cost upfront. Some other companies won't disclose those things until the end of the consult and seems to be a bait and hook tactic. 4. The day of surgery: Plan on being there for about 4 hours. This where the cost savings comes into play vs paying $4000-$5000 somewhere else. They have a process of paperwork, retaking measurements, checking your prescription, pre-op video on infection control and "do's and dont's" after Lasik, and how to put in the eye drops. 5. Lasik surgery- super quick and you will realize it wasn't worth getting all worked up about. I took about 5-6 mins total for me! Everyone is nervous and they understand that. They made it as quick as possible to minimize the amount of discomfort (not pain). 6. After surgery- best advice was to go take a nap and keep your eyes closed as much as you can for the rest of the day to maximize healing. You will have a schedule of eye drops for the next week or two. About an hour after surgery, my eyes felt like I was wearing old, dry contacts. My eyes were a little sore but this was just discomfort. My vision was a little hazy for 1-2 hrs and I woke up from my nap being able to see pretty well. 7. Post-Op follow up visit. You will not be cleared to drive until this visit so have a ride to your appointment, which is typically scheduled the next day! I am really happy I went here and super pleased with my experience! I really appreciate what they have done here by making Lasik more affordable through Groupon. I thought that Lasik was a luxury novelty procedure, but they took it and designed a process to allow them to perform it much cheaper with less overhead, making it affordable and realistic for almost anyone to get. You don't even need to buy the Groupon, just mention it and they will honor the $1900 price! I have 20/20 vision now!! Here are some false statements about this place from other reviews. - They have no customer service: False, the staff was really nice and helpful) - They need wifi (maybe they listened because there was free wifi) - Dr. Brand was rude or didn't care: False, I felt he was upfront and honest. I feel like most people made the mistake of not knowing what questions to ask. Do research about the different procedures, find out what sets them apart from the competitors. - Vision One uses old technology which is why it is cheaper: False, do some research beforehand. Intralaser or "bladeless" is the alternative to Microkeratome (blade). It's natural to think that the name "bladeless" is safer or less scary, but the Microkeratome method makes the suction part of the Lasik go by much quicker! From what I read, flap complications are rare but can happen with either method. What matters is the surgeon and what he does best!! read more

I am roughly 1 year post LASIK surgery and am so thankful that I finally mustered up to do it. I had been thinking about getting LASIK for 3-4 years prior to scheduling my consultation. I had seen Vision One on Groupon for years but never considered it until my cousin purchased the groupon and had great results with the surgery. From the consultation, to surgery day, and my follow up appointments thereafter, all the staff have been informative, friendly, and accommodating. Yes, the doctors are busy but if you have questions, they will take the time to explain and make sure you understand everything. I know one major complaint is customer service but I haven't experienced any issues. As for my vision, it's 20/20 and I am so thankful to no longer need glasses or contacts. read more

Recieved Lasik here in July of 2017 and couldn't be happier. I have been wearing contacts for 23 years. I already suffered from dry eyes and felt contacts made it worse - even with the most expensive brands. Now months after Lasik my eyes are so much better, feel as though my dry eyes aren't as severe and now I can see 20/15 on my own! Went to other consults with big companies and really liked this group. Dr. Brand and Dr. Burger are great by giving you all the info you need, answering your questions and making you feel comfortable with the surgery (because it is scary!). During consult you see and talk to the doctors more than other places that have you with a tech most of the time. Yes, you'll be there on the day of the surgery for 3-4 hours because they have people go in groups. The whole procedure takes about less than five minutes. I had my surgery in May 2015. Minor night stars, but can see fine, after 25 years of glasses. I was able to see almost immediately. Discomfort is the best word to describe some of the unpleasant sensation regarding the surgery, but there is no pain. I had the PRK done as my prescription was high. They will tell you of your chances after consult and that the surgeon will make the final determination. The only that sucks is you wait 4 hours and if you don't want the PRK after the surgeon reviews just before yo go in, then your time is wasted. read more

I had my Lasik surgery on this past father's day weekend. I decided for Lasik because I was tired of wearing glasses to see from far away but had perfect vision when it came to seeing up close and reading small print. After the surgery I can now see from far away but can no longer read small print?!!! I was told my vision would improve aprox. in 1-3 months It's now September and I still can no longer see small print?!! Not happy with the results!!! I have 3 family members that went to Kraft and came out with 20/20 vision immediatly! Here both me and my cousin used vision one and both are unhappy with the results!!! I only can say, I am very happy I did it, Dr. B Brand, Dr. Burger and Dr. J. Brand you guys are awesome, thank you thank you, for giving me this awesome vision!!! I am really happy happy happy to be able to see again.. I wish I have done it long time ago. I recommend it very much. My brother, sister and sister in law want to have their eye surgery. I was El Cochinito de Laboratorio (Ginny Pig) ..... well..... Today April 3, 2013 my brother is going to see if he fits the categories to have his vision back!!!. The waiting for the surgery is long, but I can see why... there is lots of paper work to fill, payment, the tutorial video and the doctors has like 15 surgeries in schedule. the procedure is like a blink of an eye, seriously!!!... just a suggestion for the doctors,.... Maybe I was a little nervous, but the ladies in the front desk should be a little more patient and warm.. (my personal experience, I felt like they were a little cold, I am bilingual Spanish and English, but some words need to be explain it to me, I did the surgery, because I was in the mind set that I have to be able to see people, and I want to drive in night without any fears). after a little miss understanding, everything was great... I have to agree with Eve. Dr. Brand is fabulous and his staff is great too. As a medical professional myself I admit I can be hard to please and maybe have higher expectations than most, but Dr. Brand has never disappointed. He is personable and extremely knowledgeable. I too have short visits with him...not because he is rushing or has 10 patients waiting to be seen but because he is REALLY good at what he does. They have a huge selection of frames from cheapest-of-the-cheap to D&G and though they do have to be sent out to be made the turn-around time is reasonable. My new frames were ready in 2 days and my contacts were in in 4 days. I have never had any problems with the waits to be seen, just the standard 10-15 minutes. If you are looking for a ophthalmologist in the northwest burbs...or are willing to drive out there for a good one Dr. Brand is your man! read more

First I want to introduce myself-- I am a 24 year old high school science teacher in the city of Chicago. I have gotten migraine headaches since I was 5 years old. One trigger that ALWAYS gave me a horrible migraine headache was when I had to put on my glasses. Because I have astigmatism and only slight vision impairment, I was not a good candidate for contacts. When Vision One Lasik offered a Groupon that saved me a ton of money, I got it. Everything in this review is 100% true and no, I am not related to anyone working in the VisionOne office. Dr. Brand is a good guy. He cuts through the niceties and the BS and tells you exactly what you need to know about LASIK. Yes, he does sound a bit like a car salesman. That almost turned me off to this place, as I don't respond well to sales tactics/pressure. However, even though he was very matter-of-fact and salesmanlike, I could tell that he knew his stuff. He was very knowledgeable about the eye and exactly what happens during a LASIK procedure. So I went through with it. Wow. I am glad that I did. I got the surgery in February 2011, and right now I see 20/15 vision (where before I wasn't close to 20/20). I don't get "glasses migraines" anymore because I was able to donate my old glasses to charity... I have no use for them anymore! The entire procedure was great. I want to respond to Iam's post. Yes, Burger has several offices throughout the US. No, that shouldn't be a reason not to go here. Yes, the only time you will see Dr. Burger is on the day of your surgery. No, that doesn't matter, because Dr. Brand is an optometrist who is very qualified to do your pre and post-operative check-ups. Yes, Burger has done thousands of surgeries in his career. Shouldn't that be testimony to his quality? He wouldn't be in business if even 1% of his surgeries were of bad quality! Think about it! If he has done 65,000 surgeries and 1% of them were "bad", that means 6,500 people would have their vision screwed up. Even if 0.1% were "bad", 650 people is a LOT. There would surely be some sort of lawsuit if that were the case. No, Iam, it seems to me that something went wrong in YOUR surgery. If you are considering LASIK, I highly suggest Vision One Lasik. The best part for me was knowing that Dr. Brand was there for me after surgery. I broke my special sleeping goggles and started freaking out, but he gave me a 24 hour phone number that goes straight to his cell phone. I called him late at night and he helped me with exactly what to do. I really had an excellent experience with Vision One, and if it is one of your options, I definitely recommend it to others! Signed up for lasik through Living Social for a very low price but was very nervous about it because getting surgury through a GroupOn type site doesn't sound like a smart thing to do. Signed up in May, had the procedure done late August. I setup my appointment and Dr. Braun was very nice and answered all my questions and concerns, even listened to stupid horror stories of Lasik I've heard from my friends. He came off as bit of a salesman, but who wouldn't for their own business - and it seems justified seeing as my personal experience with Lasik was perfect. Days leading up to the procedure had me pretty paranoid about the whole thing and searching for feedback through Google does come up with suspicious results, so its hard to trust anything. When the day came, I had to wait a couple hours with a group of about 7 of us, we talked about the procedure and the post-op eyedrops and whatnot with Dr. Burger - who seems nice but you don't get a lot of time to talk to him, but he does open the floor for questions and was willing to answer and gave a corny joke or two. The procedure itself doesn't take more than 5 minutes, then you go home and take a nap and then get a week of eyedrops 4 times a day. Later in the same day I had the procedure done, I was able to go to a friend's bachelor party and my vision was already nearly perfect. I had the "light halos" around lights at night, but either I have gotten accustomed to them or they are gone altogether. I was little concerned since I was a heavy eye rubber, but I think the experience of lasik makes you paranoid about even putting your hands over your eyes for that first week or so - and you get a mask to protect your eyes while you sleep. Just had my followup exam - I went from 20/100 to 20/15 vision in a month and couldn't be happier. I think people react to Lasik in their own way, but from what I can tell, as long as you take care of yourself and follow the rules in that next week and month, you should be okay. I could not be happier with the results from my Lasik surgery from Vision One Lasik Center. I've worn contacts since the 5th grade, so this surgery was the best decision I have ever made! I was very nervous the day of surgery, but everyone at Vision One was very calming and helpful. A very informative video was played right before surgery, which made me more confident and reassured. The actual surgery was maximum 10 minutes, and then they sent me on my way! I just went in for my final check-up, and my vision is better than 20-20! :) read more

Vision one changed my life. I had lasik done yesterday and I'm in disbelief of how awesome and easy it was. Dr brand and his staff are professional and pleasant. The price was just right but what makes this place the best is their dedication to customer service, integrity, and ease of doing business. The wait time on the day of surgery was a little long but well worth it for 20/20 vision. Having had so many issues with contacts, it was my time to take the risk. What dr burg did for me was incredible - 2 minutes on the operating table transformed the way i live. If anyone wants to get lasik and change their life, this is the place to go. I also want to mention that they worked around my schedule for the pre/post consultations and the facilities are clean and modern.
