Initially, I made an appointment online. I didn't receive confirmation so I called to make sure I was scheduled. I wasn't. Normally, this would cause me to find a different place to go. I was able to get a same day appointment when I called, which was surprising but very much appreciated. I saw Dr Bartek. She was great! Very personable, listened to everything I mentioned. She also was very informative. When it came time to look at frames, the woman who helped me got many options for me to try. She gave me her honest opinion on which looked best. Pricing for glasses, contacts and the exam was broken down and explained in detail. I had an awesome experience from start to finish. read more

Terrible customer service, been going there for 6+ years, Most recently, last month for an eye exam. My prescription changed, but my insurance did not cover new glasses this year, which I was fine with, I was going to order online. I requested, and was given a paper copy. I ordered 3 pairs online, when I received the first pair, the Rx was WAY off. To my disappointment, it was discovered the paper copy of the Rx was completely incorrect. The receptionists shouts out " we forget to put the negative in front" and chuckled. I was very disappointed. Apparently, the office staff (not Doctor) wrote the Rx. I requested reimbursement for the glasses I ordered, this is when Patty said that it was up the online glasses company to question the Rx. They finally agreed to reimburse me, but, according to Patty " they will be severing all relationship ties with me". Yes, it was THEIR error, and I am no longer welcome there??. This Patty needs to take a class in customer service. The Doctors are very thorough and professional, but the office staff has ALOT to be desired. read more

When your vision insurance changes, what is covered in your plan can really change. That can impact whether or not those Armani frames are in your budget. How much is my frame allowance? What type of lenses are covered? Should I get prescription sunglasses or regular eyeglasses? These are the type of questions that I asked and Patty from Illinois Eye Care Center was super helpful in helping me through the process. She was patient and helped me understand what insurance covered and my out-of-pocket expense. She even helped me pick out the right frames to go with my complexion. This is not a review of the doctor but of the front staff. I've been a patient & customer for several years. Went in for my annual exam & and update to my prescription & purchase new frames. My vision insurance is exceptional & my out of pocket is minimal. After my exam & choosing the new frames my total out of pocket was less than $100 for which I was charged right away. Apparently they didn't feel like I spent enough so suddenly I needed another test which I was told I'd have to pay for in advance & if my insurance paid the claim, I'd be reimbursed. I explained that I'd already met my deductible & was covered at 100% so there was no need to charge me up front. The staff claimed there was no way to verify that (???) as if I'd lie about it...and would have to prepay. I agreed & paid. Weeks went by, and after I went in to pick up my glasses, for which they never offered to adjust, etc. just handed to me, I inquired about the refund & was told insurance hadn't paid the claim yet. Weeks went by & I eventually called my insurance & was told the claim had been paid at 100% just like I initially explained to the staff. I call the office & was told "the check went out on Monday". I live very close to the office & expected it to be delivered in a day or two. Cut to a week later, no check so I called & again & was told it already went out last Monday & there was nothing they can do about mail delivery. Another week goes by & still no check. At this point it's obvious no check was ever sent. Upset, I call again & finally speak to the office manager whose attitude was nasty & that's being kind. She refused to stop pay on the supposed check & told me to wait another week (3 weeks total) for mail delivery. Lo & behold, 2 days later a check arrives with no post mark. The frustration & treatment from this group of supposed professionals is enough to lose my business. Again, the doctor is a nice guy but his staff leaves much to be desired. read more

Terrible experience! My friend got the cutest glasses here so I went to try on the same style. They had the frame, but not in the color I wanted to try. They did call the other two locations and they did not have them. She said I would have to pay 50.00 as a deposit to place the order??? What??? Just to try on a frame. She said otherwise they only order every three months so I could try back then?? Really?? Total crap! I called another practice and they were more than happy to help me! read more

Usually I get glasses and an exam through some deal from For Eyes, Lenscrafters, Groupon, etc. because my work's vision insurance is really limited...but I decided to dive in and get some nice new glasses and prescription shades. Dr. Aide did my eye exam, and he was a lot more thorough that the optometrists I have seen in the past. He also seemed genuinely nice and enjoyed his work, which really makes for a pleasant visit. The ladies working at the desk were kind enough to tighten the hinges on my old glasses without me asking or charging for it. The only downside is the prices are pretty steep, and I had a hard time finding an affordable brand in the bunch (there was Kate Spade, Coach, Oliver Peoples, and the like). Luckily there was a discount through my insurance as well 30% off the second pair. I really didn't need the sunglasses; BUT when I got them I was easily impressed by how clear everything is to me now when I'm outside. I even wear the them inside buildings because they protect my eyes so well as I am sometimes sensitive to indoor lighting. I think I'll be holding onto these babies for a long time. read more

We've been visiting the Illinois Eye Care Center for a couple years now. My family has seen a couple of the doctors, but Dr. Aide is our favorite. He's patient and really takes his time with us. The staff here is great too! Jenn is always there when we come through and she's very helpful. The facility is clean and I feel very comfortable even if I have to wait a little bit. Another plus is that they take my VSP which keeps me from overpaying and they do the paperwork. My only real complaint? Well, there weren't a lot of options for my husband for his new glasses. We found something, but ended up paying more than we wanted to because they didn't have a small enough frame in a more reasonable price range. read more

Dr. Ann Bartek is a wonderful optometrist. I have been going to the same eye doctor since I was 15 years old (20 years), when she retired I tried another doctor and it was horrible and made me quite worried for the experience. I, as I'm sure a lot of people, don't like when people touch my eyes, look at them- pretty much anything with my eyes without them watering and getting so irritated. Dr. Bartek listened to me, she made me feel very comfortable but the thing that stands out the most- she explained what she was doing and why. She let me know ahead of time what she was about to do and made sure I was comfortable with everything. I was so impressed I have already share my experience with a few others; my sister said her next appointment will be with Dr. Bartek. My only issue would be with the website- including this review as well option as well. It doesn't list Dr. Bartek's name- it just list her as Dr. Kent's aide. The online site list her as one of the doctors but when making an appt it didn't provide her name as an option for any of the locations. I would encourage anyone wanting to schedule an appt with this wonderful doctor to add a note on the online website or call in to make the appt. Definitely recommend- couldn't recommend enough! read more

If I could give this place a zero rating, I would! The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I walked out of there livid from from the entire experience, and I tend to be a pretty laid back person. I called this morning to get an apt for an eye infection that I woke up with today. I gave the girl over the phone all of my insurance information, we went over my symptoms and verified I was "In-Network" etc. I got to the office to get checked in by a girl, who clearly knew nothing about insurance. She proceeded to tell me that I would be responsible for full payment for my exam because I haven't met my medical deductible for the year; which is $900.00. I explained to her that for Dr. visit, i'm only responsible for a Co-Pay listed on my card. She argued with me, and said the visit today could cost up to $200+ and I would be responsible for it. She said she could charge me $50.00 if I agreed to pay the remaining balance once the visit gets billed. That again didn't sound correct to me, so she said to call my insurance. I sat in the office called my insurance (20 mins later) I confirmed. I'm only responsible for my $30.00 co-pay and that my insurance covers 100% of the visit costs. I hung up, explained this to the girl a the desk and she then tells me, it's office policy they have to collect everything upfront today and then if the insurance pays for it they will send me a check with difference!! I was livid!!!!!!!!! They told me to call my insurance, waste 20 more mins of my time, and then tell me it's just their OFFICE POLICY to collect $200.00+ dollars and I may or may not receive a check for the difference my insurance covers in full. I've NEVER heard of such policies. What a joke. I got an appointment elsewhere and paid $30.00 for my co-pay. read more

I received my eye exam from Dr Kent Aide. He's nice, cordial, and has a somewhat Florida-feel to him. The eye exam was fine, browsing their frames selection was ok too, and I did end up picking out a pair. The only reason they lose stars for me, is because I had to stalk them for the status of my order. Ultimately, they didn't call to inform me that they had been delivered. And that's just not the best customer service. Other than that, good selection, nice offices and nice people. read more

Dr. Aims did a great service for me for which I am very grateful. I had had two family practice doctors and an Ophthalmologist tell me that the lesion on my lower eyelid was a stye and the gave me ointment to treat it - but I knew it was not because I had had it for over three years and it continued to grow. But because of how my insurance worked, I needed a medical referral to get it properly treated. Dr Aims correctly diagnosed the lesion as a cancerous growth and wrote me the referral I needed to have it surgically removed. I ended up losing half of my lower eyelid, that required considerable reconstructive surgery, but it would have been considerably worse had Dr Aims not correctly diagnosed my problem and taken decisive action to have it be corrected. I visited this office with some painful redness in my right eye the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The office was very accommodating and booked an appointment for me that day. Dr. Kent Aide gave me a thorough evaluation and dug deeper into other eye issues I had going on, in addition to my complaint of redness and pain. Dr. Aide showed genuine concern for my overall eye health, which was a lot worse than I realized. He followed up with me immediately after the appointment. A week later the office phoned to check in on the concerning issues. I cannot recall an office and physician that demonstrated such a high level of care and concern for their patient. My husband and I went to see Dr. Aide for new glasses. Either of us has been to the eye doctor in years, and I for one am super freaked to have anyone touching my eyes. Dr Aide was so amazing, really took the time with us both, and made me feel super comfortable, I almost forgot that I'm having my eyes checked. Once the extremely through eye exam was over, we were fitted for our glasses. The staff that assisted with that was just as INCREDIBLE at helping us pick the right frames. When we went back to pick up our glasses, we were equally as thrilled. They took the time to make sure each of our frames were fitted to our faces, and that we were happy. Not just satisfied, happy! I went with my wife for her eye examination to the Schaumburg office. Next day we went to Hoffman office for looking the frame. Same frame which was priced for more than $300, we are getting for $64 on amazon When I said I do not want to buy the frame and requested for eye subscription. They said you will get subscription in 3 days, which was weird. I called again after 3 days for subscription, they replied you will get in few hours. I again waited for 3 days .. no response. My insurance had changed in January so I went here to find new glasses, I did not have an exam. I was very disappointed and frustrated with the sales girl I dealt with. I am calling her a "sales girl" instead of a technician because her behavior was that of someone trying to make a commission verses a health care professional. My insurance covers $150 for frames and a $10 copay for lenses. The only upgrade I asked for on my lenses was anti-glare. My prescription is moderate and I understood the lenses will be thick. I picked the appropriate frames for this problem and have been doing so for many years (I have worn glasses/contacts since I was 5 years old). This sales girl refused to give me the price of lenses with the anti-glare only. Every price she came back with was for upgrades I did not ask for. One as high as $233!! Lowest was still $100. She gave me all sorts of round about the price and I still could not figure out why it was more than the copay and price of the anti-glare ($79). And if there is any question I have the paper in which she wrote down the prices, and yes with the two upgrades I specifically did not want. I asked over and over again for the price with anti-glare only and she said I had to get the thin upgrade or the lenses would "rub" on my face. What?!?! Unbelievable. I have never come across anybody like this in an optical office....EVER. I walked out with nothing. I hope management reads this and are now aware of her behavior...and if they are pushing this...then shame on them. So unprofessional and I would never trust a healthcare office trying to push somebody to make a profit where their vision is concerned. Please don't give this place your business. UPDATE: I spoke with my insurance company and the quote I received for anti-reflective was the second highest. The lowest was $41. I was never given options and my insurance said the price of $99 would not even make sense with the highest option of $85. I have let the insurance know and they are filing a report and dealing with this provider. read more

The exam portion of my experience was satisfactory. I'm less than impressed with the sales portion of my experience. I felt rather rushed while looking through the somewhat limited selection of frames. The optional addons weren't presented as options but just added in without my consent. Afterward, I called to see if there was any kind of exchange/return policy and was told there was none, and no other options were offered, no 30-day guarantee, warranty, nothing. Great experience with hem. On Tuesday I had symptoms in my right eye that I thought could be a detached retina so I called late Tuesday, They got me in early Wednesday, Dr. Aide (who is a really nice guy) did a thorough exam, thought he saw a retinal tear, and got me in to a retinal specialist thta same afternpoon, who lasered the tear.
