I've been going to Dr. Rosanova-Philipp for a few years now and really like her! I think she's only adjusted my prescription once and she helped me find contacts that were a way better fit and feel for my astigmatism. Last time I picked out glasses with them, the tech I worked with was super helpful and actually selected my frames for me - something I'd never pick off the shelf myself. I love them! The practice typically has good promotional deals going on when I need to order new contacts too, so that's nice. read more

Got a prescription from Dr. Maurer and had glasses made by PVC. I came to pick them up and I knew immediately something was wrong. I told the technician that the RX is incorrect as everything from my right eye was blurry. She said "oh well you have to wear the glasses with both eyes open, closing one eye to test is not typical how you wear them". She then sent me on my way. I went to another optometrist the next day for another evaluation and they determined that the axis was incorrect. I came back and demanded they correct the lenses. They remade the glasses with the external (correct) prescription. They did not offer a reevaluation to correct their error on their prescription. So as it stands, I have an incorrect prescription written from this practice. No apology from the doctor either. Enthusiastically DO NOT recommend this practice. read more

My wife was scheduled for an urgent appointment for pain in her eyes on a Saturday. Dr. Lenz took the time to examine her eyes and addressed our questions and concerns. Even though it had passed the closing time, we didn't feel the pressure to leave. We did not feel any pressure to schedule further tests for my wife although she could have asked us to schedule the next appointment at the time. Palatine Vision Center is a phenomenal place and I have been a patient for years. I started seeing Dr Ernstein who I adored but he is retired now. They moved from a small office in a strip mall to their own beautiful building which is huge and state of the art. I prefer doctors offices with the latest and greatest technology and this is another thing I love about PVC. They have all the latest tests and machines and they got rid of that machine that puffs air into your eyes and that alone is worth 5 stars haha Not sure what others are talking about when they say they pressure you. Any time a test has been recommended to me, I have been advised of the cost and whether or not it is covered by insurance. The doctors and staff are all top notch, I've never had a bad experience here and everyone is kind friendly and helpful. They move you through your appointment efficiently without making you feel rushed. Their selection of contacts and glasses and sunglasses is excellent. I love that they sell Maui Jim sunglasses as they are the only ones I will wear. Once you see through those lenses it's hard to go back to regular sunnies. Any time I get a new contact prescription they give me plenty of samples to try. They even order more if they don't have enough in stock. Their prices are fair and they go above and beyond to make sure that all of my questions are answered. As a scientist and a health-care professional, I am so thankful that the staff here are still wearing masks and cleaning/disinfecting surfaces! I would NOT recommend this place. I have had the same prescription for several years and went in for a routine eye examination. They increase the strength of my prescription by 3xs the amount for one eye and 1x for the other. When I got my glasses made the prescription was way too strong. I had to get my vision checked again externally (and paid for this) and the RX did not change. I was overprescribed so I had to get the glasses remade. Additionally, they recommended extra testing that would be more appropriately done by ophthalmologists. They also recommended that my daughter get reading glasses that she ended up NOT needing. I would not go here - they make too many mistakes and who has time for this. read more

I got my new glasses here X 2. Be very careful with high pressure sales techniques at this place. They asked me if I would like my pupils dilated, to check for blood behind the eyes? Am I the eye doctor?? Unsure of what I should do, I said yes. Cost me $$$. I'm under 50 years old -- the test was not even needed, which I learned after googling. Just another add on they got me for since I'm gullible. In the end you finish with a glass specialist who will then pressure you into adding everything single little add on towards your glasses. I had a few exams with this practice but due to Covid and a bedrest pregnancy they were unable to work with me to get a short supply of contacts to hold me over to my appointment- (which they couldn't fit me in until a month and a half later!!!!). They had no solution for me. What kind of eye doctor does that?? There were other issues with their sales tactics and scheduling as well but long story short FIND ANOTHER PRACTICE. read more

The friendly care and attention they provide at PVC goes far beyond those other stores that all seem to be owned by the same corporate overlords. I'm getting old! This time I am moving to progressives. Dr. Lehrfeld and the staff were extremely helpful in helping me make good decisions about glasses, contacts, and reading glasses. Sarah is amazing at helping me pick out frames that fit my budget that look great and fitting them perfectly. I can't wait until my new glasses come in! Their online system to book appointments has been broken for months. It redirects to a dead page and a message comes up saying the system administrator has been informed. Clearly they haven't if it still doesn't work. I called by phone to make an appointment and they couldn't see me for a month. Seriously? The palatine vision center looks nice but not a place supposed to have responsible eye doctor. I deposit 2K to having my son to wear CRT lens which a device can help him slow down his near sight back in Sept of 2017. According to their process, my 8 years old son had to prove that he can take full responsibility on putting on and taking off the CRT lens by himself. He made it after 1 hour exercise. However, my son told me his eyes were burning on the way home. I drove him back right away. The eye doctor said that for some reason the detergent had not been washed well. Obviously there were detergent residues remaining in CRT lens. My son was screaming all night long with running tears. It extremely hurt and painful. Lucky my son's eyes had not been damaged. Few days later they contact me said that we'd better wait another year to consider to ask my son wear CRT contact lens because he is probably too young to wear. It was totally lie. I have couple of friends their kids start wearing CRT lens since they were 6 or 7 years. If it is true why they didn't tell you at really beginning? Due to safety concern, we agreed to follow their "advice". In this August, I called them for checking. I was shock to hear that they will charge me for taking another full eye inspection. It was so ridiculous! Should I pay for their mistakes? I told them they should cover their mistake. The most hilarious thing was they called me back later and told me that they decided not to service us. I got enough! We walked away with our money. All in all, we will never ever go to this place. They care more about finishing more money than take their responsibility which they should have as a basic. read more

They lost my business. I walked in without an appointment to get my glasses adjusted, which I had been unable to do until now because of covid 19 restrictions. I was treated like an interloper! I was politely told by reception that I should make an appointment first, but that they would ask their optician to help me anyway. The optician performed an adjustment for me, which I appreciate. I had to sign a waiver letting them off the hook in case my glasses broke during their adjustment. I was not allowed to get up and browse or get close to the frames in the wall displays. I wore a mask inside their store, yet I was required to have the optician to pull frames for me and help me try them on. Because I could not see any of the frames from where I was seated, I took a pass. I am an adult who prefers to pick out glasses by myself after taking a close look at them first. Afterward I went to Lenscrafters to get an adjustment for a different pair of glasses. Lenscrafters made me feel welcome and were happy to help me without questions, reservations, suspicions, or waivers. read more

Location is beautiful, doctor was very friendly. What I found unacceptable was the $220 I was charged for my 5-year-old's simple eye exam for kindergarten. That's 3x as much as I've ever paid in the 20 years I've worn glasses. It's my fault for not confirming the price beforehand but who'd have thought it would be that expensive. My entire family has been going here for years. The new location is beautiful and very spacious. What we like best is how friendly the doctors and staff are. You are always greated with a friendly smile when you walk in the door. Our appointments are always on time... how often does that happen with other doctor appointments? We see Dr. Laura Rosanova, who is great. She always takes time to explain the tests she is doing. I especially recommend seeing Dr. Laura if you have kids; my kids love her.
