My background is in Vet Med - I've been a licensed Vet Tech for 30+ years, working in specialty medicine and academia. So I know the questions to ask, and I did A LOT of research before landing on VVet. I had just moved to the area and knew no one!! They came recommended to me when I started researching and asking other colleagues, "Who do you know in the Knoxville area that is at a great general practice?" This clinic came up a few times, and a few names were dropped. So I read up on the doctors' names given and chose Dr. Dugan. I've had all three of my pets seen there. The first was my soul dog, Ember, who had CKD (chronic kidney disease). She was the reason I needed to find a practice ASAP when I arrived here. She required monthly evaluations and more frequent ones at the end. Dr. Dugan was patient with me, the high detail very stressed Moma. She and her team did almost everything in the room with me. She was gentle with my kids, got down on the ground to ease their anxiety, and gave me time for all my many questions. Her assistants were also gentle and nice. When the worst day of my life came, I wanted to spend the day with my girl and schedule the euthanasia at the end of the day. I was told she unfortunately wouldn't be available at that time, but another doctor could fit me in that evening. I, of course, had to accept that fact because I wanted that time with her that day, but knew it couldn't wait over the weekend. But when I arrived, she and her assistant had made themselves available. Knowing my girl wouldn't have to see an unfamiliar face meant the world to me. They were both kind and compassionate and were willing to accommodate my requests of not coming into the clinic to perform the euthanasia, so we could stay outside in a familiar setting my dog loved (in the car). It was raining, and they still did it!! This is a 5-star service! Since then, my boys (cat and dog) have both needed some care, and each time the service has been great! I had to use Dr. Morrison for one urgent visit, and she, too, was patient and caring with my pup. I'm glad they were recommended to me for general care.

They are so patient with her and take the necessary time to make sure she is comfortable. They are great about working you in for emergency issues, which is much appreciated when you come home from work to a sick pup. They are honest and will tell you about available tests and services you can get for your pet, but they also tell you if it's necessary or if they would/wouldn't do it for their own pet at that time. They don't try to run as many tests as possible to make as much money as they can, which I've encountered several other places. I have seen several of the vets and techs there and spoken to several of the receptionists, and I've not met a single person there that I didn't like. They are all kind, incredibly helpful, and I truly feel like they treat my dogs like their own.

They repeatedly recommended tests for my dogs but were often unable to explain what was actually causing the problem. Instead, they would suggest even more testing, sometimes to determine whether the medication they had prescribed might be causing new issues. I was also frequently told that my dog needed to be sedated for additional diagnostics. Even when the likely problem seemed clear, sedation and more procedures were still recommended before moving forward with treatment. It left me feeling like unnecessary tests and sedation were being prioritized over straightforward care. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this clinic and would encourage others to carefully consider their options before bringing their pets here.

They misdiagnosed him and told us it was fine to take his cone off that we put on him to stop him from making it worse. Well it certainly got worse after we took the cone off and he scratched it to oblivion. Looking closely you can tell there is an unusual lump or cyst there and that's the reason he's scratching. Not only did they charge us but made the problem worse, and will probably try to charge us again to find out how they messed up.

The first couple of visits went well and I liked that they gave my pup treats when they were giving him his vaccines. However the last 3 visits I was done with this place. First of the last 3 I waited for an hour and a half before being placed in a room, the second of the last 3 I waited for over 2 hours for a room. The last of the 3 I waited for over 3 hours to be placed in a room. I was 100% fed up. If people have appointments don't over schedule. It really made me angry that I had to wait so long and there was no acknowledgement that I been there patiently waiting for so long, which must mean it happens all the time. I never got an apology or even a question to why I hadn't returned but time is valuable and I will not waste my life away sitting waiting. At Banfield I'm in a room usually within the minute I arrive, which means they don't over schedule. There were other people waiting with me @ Cedar Bluff that looked just as fed up. I understand that they might be a decent vet clinic but with my experiences I get better service and one-on-one time with my pups at Banfield and pay a lot less. So if you find yourself in a similar situation go check out Banfield bc this place was overrated to me. Cheers & Enjoy!
