Total rip off. Got eye exam & they say they can't print prescriptions & we have to go to their portal to print it ourselves. Spent 4 days fighting to get the portal to show us the script. Called multiple times asking for help & they just say use the portal. Finally called the office begging for help & they said they would email the prescription. Another day and still no prescription, no email, nothing. Total liars. read more

I have never seen a doctors office that was as disorganized as this one. I was called the evening before my appointment and was told that my appointment was being moved from the Verrado location to the Avondale location and that my appointment would be at 8:00am. I show up at 8:00 and no one is there. No one arrived until 8:20. Then after I checked in, I waited another 30 minutes for them to call me. While the technician was doing my readings and measurements, she was talking with her coworker; meanwhile she's not paying attention to the fact that she is jamming her machine into my nose. Then when they get me into the exam room, neither her or the doctor can figure out how to make the letters display the correct way. So my entire exam was conducted with backwards letters. read more

The lady who helped me pick my glasses was polite and helpful, but that's about the only good thing about my visit. I hadn't been to an eye doctor for about 2 years until I decided to give this place a try. I was told I had to choose between eye dilating drops or the machine that cost $40 extra, not covered by insurance, to take images of my eye. I expressed my concern for the eye drops as I didn't think it necessary for myself or my kid at the time. The lady doing our initial exam said because I hadn't had an exam within the past year I had to choose one. I lost my glasses and I needed to get the exam done and my insurance only covers one exam a year. So there went $80 extra that I hadn't anticipated spending just so I didn't have to have my eyes dilated. Been to several eye exams and never was told they needed to dilate my eyes to examine them. Its a great tool if you have certain risk factors or are there because of issues you are having, but that was not my case. The doctor was nice enough, but he went through as fast as he could and it seemed like he was just eager to be done with his day. This is one of those times i wish I would have listened to other reviews. My appointment was several months ago, so hopefully things have changed. Wherever you go don't make a mistake like me and allow yourself to be rushed into something. This was the Avondale location. read more

STEER CLEAR! I scheduled appointment for vision and diabetes check. When I get there, the person tells me that can't do both because of billing reasons. Which was weird to me because two different insurances are involved, but then it dawned on me there would only be one office visit charge. Hmmmm... Then I say I will do vision check, then the person tells me that the slot I have is for a diabetes check. WTF?!?! So I decide the slot is neither for me and I get my purse and leave. More money for diabetes check, I guess. They don't give a care about what the patient wants. I suppose she thought I would rollover and say ok, but that's not how I roll. read more

I would not recommend this place, I had a eye exam done using my insurance. I was supposed to get contact and they ended up doing a regular eye exam.. My first time getting contacts so I did not know what the process was and I did mark contacts on my form. So then they scheduled me for contacts and pretty upset about it since I then would be getting an free exam in their eyes. They were rude during this whole process. Then took in a pair of frames to have my lences put in, my husband picked up the frame and there are marks all through out my frame as if there where drill marks or burn marks. This is the worst customer service for any medical facility I've been through. And by looking at other Yelp reviews I don't stand alone. Wait times every time i was there was 45 minutes before I sat in a chair. For one appointment they cancel and rescheduled twice in a row. And then the call dropped and they never rescheduled or took the time to call me back to reschedule. I can't wait to get my lenses and be so done with this place! Your front staff are rude cold and unfriendly. I've been coming here for 3 months now and still haven't left home with lenses. DO NOT GO HERE! I scheduled my appointment two weeks ago where I provided all my information and social insurance information. I get there and their systems are down and they said I have to pay $90 to be seen by a doctor when my co-pay is $20 then she proceeded to say that it was my problem and that there was nothing that she can do. I've been coming to this practice for years, it's unfortunate that they now have staff that are rude when you call in. I've never had an issue until now, my entire immediate family go here and I've recommended many people here which I will no longer be doing. With COVID and so many people wearing masks it would only be right for the staff to wear their mask if they are requiring for patients to wear their masks at all times. The front office person only puts their mask on when you are physically standing in front of them and immediately takes it off after you step away. Today I walked in and both front office staff had a Mask worn below the nose. I have already spoken to the manager over the phone last time I was in and was reassured the staff would be better educated on wearing their mask properly. The assistant in the front was about as cold as a brick. Extremely lackluster customer service. I highly recommend you go somewhere else if you want to be treated with respect. We came in shopping for new glasses, in the middle of shopping around the assistant demanded we hand over our ID. When questioned why she was very curt in her response, "it's policy". I should've walked out then but decided to keep browsing. We did find a pair that we liked and the optician was kind and knowledgeable. However after we left we realized they didn't give us our prescription back that we had came in with. I called in to let them know we were coming back for it. I finally arrived at the front desk and the assistant was on the phone and didn't acknowledge us for a few moments. Then when she noticed we were standing there she grabs the sheet of paper and slaps it on top of the desk face down.. still without acknowledging us. I reached over the desk and grabbed the paper as her timing was non-coincidental, it became obvious she was keeping us waiting on purpose. That suddenly got her attention and she still had the nerve to say "may I help you?" as if she didn't recognize us, considering we were literally there minutes ago (there were hardly any customers in-store). No you can't help me, I found what I was looking for and I will not be back. I wish I knew her name for the sake of this review however please forgive my description. She was the brown hair, heavier-set, hispanic woman that sits in the front. Customer service has weakened. I called to confirm my appointment and it turns out that they never scheduled me. No apologies, nothing. I've been going to Vision Wellness since I moved here over a year and a half ago and I have absolutely no intention on returning there. On one hand, the doctors and doctor assistants have always been very kind, quick, and helpful. They really listen. HOWEVER, the front desk staff have always been COLD, RUDE AND INSENSITIVE, since my first visit. But I kept returning because I liked my optometrist. Unfortunately the doctor's performance can no longer compensate for their staff's incompetency. I found out yesterday at my exam that THEY MISLABELED MY CONTACT LENS AND IVE BEEN WEARING THEM IN THE WRONG EYE THE LAST SIX MONTHS! (Note: my prescription for each eye is different! This could have had serious consequences!) Before my visit even started they told me that they didn't have my insurance information right because it showed me as the policy holder. I kept explaining that I was on my parents plan. She started demanding my parents info (which I wasn't prepared to have) and said she couldn't help me without it. I argued that the insurance hadn't changed in the last year and a half so it should all be there - unless they lost it! She keeps saying she'll "look it up" and after I continued to argue that it's in their system she says she found it - then told me I have a $10 copay. Sounds about right. Great, thank you. I wait and then see the doctor. That's when I found out I had been wearing my left contact prescription in my right eye and vice versa, because they mislabeled the boxes. Then I check out... low and behold, I have a $50 copay?! MY COPAY WENT FROM $10 TO $50?! I asked her how that's possible. She said the copay for the visit is $10 and the contact lens exam copay is $40. Oh, so you forgot to mention that beforehand?! AND SHOULDN'T THEY PAY FOR MY NEXT PAIR OF LENSES AND/OR WAIVE THE COPAYS TO COMPENSATE FOR THEIR MISTAKE WITH MY LENSES?! Mislabeling contacts is a huge mistake and charging me for a contacts exam after that mistake is wrong. I have my prescription and have every intention on going elsewhere to have my contacts and/or glasses made. I DO NOT RECOMMEND VISION WELLNESS. read more

Unlike the other reviewers I have not had good experiences with this vision center. On each visit I've had to wait 45-60 minutes to be seen, despite a nearly empty waiting room. On one visit the tech did an exam, without asking or explaining anything to me, that was not covered by my insurance. When I got up to the front I was asked to pay $50 for the exam. I told the lady that the tech did not ask nor tell me about this, he just asked me to sit at the machine. After she verified my story the fee was waived. I really ended up disliking the frames I got, and went back to wearing my old glasses. I called regarding contact lenses and was told the cost by the lady at the front desk. When I got there the doctor gave me completely different figures that were much higher. The doctor seemed as if he really didn't want to be bothered that day, and was talking and explaining so fast I really don't know what he was was talking about. After that, I told the front desk that I had been given totally false info, and she looked up my file and at first verified that she was the one who spoke with me by phone, then turned around and denied it was her. I knew it was her. I cannot tolerate poor customer service. I'm so glad I asked for my records. Found a fantastic doctor with prompt, professional, and knowledgable front office staff. Walked out that day with my contact lenses. I would never return here nor recommend this place to anyone at all. read more

Love this place. Both Drs Lee and Vogl are professional and personable. The staff are great as well. They accommodated me on anSaturday contact rip emergency. De Vogl spoke about a common history of living in IN with my 8 yr old. When we went to pick up her glasses there was a little notebook shaped like IN with a note from Dr Vogl included. Also I have a difficult prescription and Dr Lee went the extra mile to find some that fit me correctly. Tool a couple of tries. read more

What a great surprise! (I only say "surprise" because I live on the West Side and, generally, find everything over here dingy, unpleasant, and subpar). Vision Wellness may be the only business within 10 miles of my home that I am happy to give my money. I scheduled my appointment a few days ago using their web interface. I was able to complete and submit (!) my new patient forms online. When I arrived for my 11 am routine eyeglass exam, I was hopeful that I could have the exam; avoid an annoying "hard sell" on tacky, overpriced frames; purchase lenses for the frames I brought along with me, and be on my way by noon. I am a lifelong glases wearer; I know how annoying this errand can be. BUT this place is awesome. First of all, the decor is posh and tasteful, the facility is impeccably clean, and the selection in the "optique" was smaller but way better than LensCrafters or something. They had some great high fashion Tom Ford frames. The women running the front desk were fast and efficient with check-in, and it was evident to me that they were truly well versed in various insurance plans. My exam with Dr. Black was the most thorough eye exam I have ever had, and she even went over my eye images with me, educating me about eye anatomy. When I asked her to do a special check related to an underlying health issue, she did so graciously and expertly. I also loved that there was an alternative to dilation for a nominal ($35) fee. Then when I was handed off to the next woman to purchase my frames, she knowlegeably counseled me about how to maximize my insurance benefit, and she didn't try at all to upsell me. Their price for single vision, clear plastic, no bells or whistles glasses was $63. That is about the best I have seen. Plus, I had the option to pay just half of it today! They told me my three pairs of frames would be ready in a week and a half, and I was able to elect to receive a text notification. This place would be/will be perfect in my eyes if they get done with them more quickly. read more

I have been going to Vision Wellness Center since 2004. They are simply fabulous! I originally began seeing Dr. Vogl but from what I understand she is only working a couple days a week now and has brought on another doctor, Dr. Marmos. On my last visit Dr. M was the one who did my annual eye exam and he was not only thorough but quick. He moved quickly through each part of the exam and sent me on my way...but not before ensuring that there weren't any questions he hadn't answered for me. I completely trust and admire the professionalism and knowledge this staff exhibits! read more

I began going to Vision Wellness over 2 years ago solely because of its close location and attractive website, and am MORE than satisfied...so much, that I have since moved to the East Valley but will continue to drive West for their services! My first vist was for a regular checkup and contact lens consultation, in which Dr. Lee helped me pick the best type of contacts for my astigmatism/lifestyle. He really took the time with me and answered all my ?s. Afterwards, I had a harder time than most removing the contacts, but his assistants were extremely patient and said they didn't want me to leave until I was comfortable removing and placing them in on my own. I have been to both the Goodyear and Avondale offices, and they are equally updated/attractive and hold state of the art equipment. Dr. Vogl is extremely sweet and offered various insight into eye health and carefully went over photos of my inner eye. More recently, they have acquired these innovative machines that no longer require you to look at a typical image then compare to the next. Now, the two images are placed side-by-side for you to immediately judge easier. The entire support staff is also extremely helpful and friendly and will ship your contact orders directly to your home. I have even popped in just to get my sunglasses/glasses readjusted, and they are always more than willing to help. Vision Wellness also offers a neat selection of designer frames like Juicy Couture, bebe, Versace, etc. Did I mention they have Saturday appointments avail, too?! Score. You will not be dissapointed with the caring staff and service they provide. read more

Paid for contact fitting had family emergency and when I returned to state they refused to provide service w/o complete exam and repaying of fee. Customer service overall was extremely lacking. Assistant who administered part of the eye exam was rude, impersonable and did not explain anything. Dr was pleasant but also did not explain anything. She chose to change my brand of contacts without explaining that comes with a $100 additional cost that has to be paid out of pocket. I was asked to pay this prior to even having my contacts on for an hour to check comfort and fit. Contacts do not fit correctly. Had to reschedule an appointment for follow up and the staff was unhelpful and insisted appointment did not need to rescheduled right away. Overall experience was horrible. My husband and I went to this facility a year ago. He needed prescription reading glasses in a no-line bifocal...clear top, his distance sight is excellent. I had very expensive gold frameless frames........just the 2 side pieces and the nose piece......and I needed an exam and new lenses. I got my glasses back and a month later an ear piece fell off right where they had crimped in the new lens. I took it back, they said it couldn't be fixed but "We have some really nice frames you can look at." I took it to someone and got it fixed for $50. A couple months later the other earpiece fell off. $50. Then they broke at the nose piece. My husband's glasses were never right. I finally convinced him to take them to another doctor and this guy examined his eyes and looked at his glasses and said they had absolutely no relationship to one another. There was no bifocal, it was a solid-prescription lens and the prescription wasn't even CLOSE to what my husband needed. I recommend you avoid this place. One thing we noticed was that they seemed to be quite fascinated with my husband's great insurance plan and they had a number of "tests" they wanted us to come back for because the insurance covered it.
