I was very anxious about seeing a dentist after many years of not being able to afford dentistry…read moreand my own dental neglect during years of depression, where I didn't take very good of myself at all. I felt embarrassed about my teeth and I had my hopes up many times trying to find someplace that could help me get my teeth fixed (so I could also feel better about myself), and help me find a way to afford all the work I would need. I had also become quite emotional after many efforts to find help had led to disappointment as I learned, that even low cost places were a lot more $ than I expected. I had received an ad in my mail offering a free dental x-ray and evaluation for new patients at Excel Dental. I eventually convinced myself to try again, and made an appointment at Excel Dental. My dentist was Dr. Kai, who was very kind and compassionate as I explained my situation being a senior on a very fixed income. Dr. Kai and staff worked a plan that would enable me to get the dental work I'd not only needed, but wanted as well. I recommend Excel Dental and Dr. Kai for all ages, but because I know there are many seniors like myself, this is in particular a, SHOUT OUT to the BOOMERS in need of dentistry! I sincerely say to all, "you owe it to yourselves" to see what Dr. Kai can do for you. I feel a sincere gratitude to Dr. Kai in particular. The staff at Excel Dental is friendly and accommodating. The waiting room is not fancy, but comfortable and clean and I can't even recall a wait longer than 5 mins to get seen. The equipment is modern, very clean.

They will make sure you got pain and they do not qualify for any moderate sedation. You may take your own risk to be there with those unprofessional people. Sedation Options Offered: According to the Excel Dental website, they offer the following anxiety-relief and sedation methods: * Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas): A mild, inhaled sedative that helps patients relax while remaining awake. It wears off quickly after the procedure. * Oral Conscious Sedation: A pill taken before the appointment to manage moderate to severe anxiety. * The Wand: A computer-controlled injection system that delivers local anesthesia in a steady, more comfortable flow than traditional needles. Important Note on IV Sedation: Excel Dental does NOT currently list IV sedation (deep sedation). If you require IV sedation, other local providers that explicitly offer it include Missouri City Dentistry and Plantation Dental. Notable complaints from public reviews and consumer platforms include: * Clinical Incidents: One highly detailed complaint from 2024 involved a parent who alleged that a child was "traumatized" during a molar extraction where anesthesia reportedly wore off mid-procedure. * Billing and Financial Disputes: Patients have reported issues with the finance department, specifically regarding the handling of referral credits and unexpected charges for certain procedures. * Prosthetic and Fit Issues: At least one senior patient reported receiving poorly fitted dentures that caused significant pain, followed by dissatisfaction with the office's refusal to provide a refund. * Service Quality: Some reviews highlight "lousy" service for specialized needs like severe underbites or hurried cleanings that felt inadequate. * Operational Concerns: Common minor complaints include long wait times--sometimes exceeding an hour--and administrative errors, such as prescriptions being issued without necessary signatures.

The office has state of the art equipment from the CT Scan for implants to the tv screens on the ceiling. His staff (Shannon and Mia) welcome you with a big smile and are ready to answer any questions big or small. The cleaning was easy and his assistant Mia did a great job with my full mouth xrays. Normally they are not very comfortable but she did it very effortless. Dr. Dinh reviewed my xrays and addressed my concerns about needing a new crown which I did return to get done. The process was painless. He takes his time to inject the anesthesia so there is little discomfort and waits until it takes affect before using the drill. I had the option of watching a movie on the ceiling screen but opted to rest my eyes. I actually was able to take a little cat nap while he and Mia worked in my mouth. In the end, I walked out with a temporary crown and received my permanent one 2 weeks later. The permanent one fit like a glove and only minor adjustments were needed. I only have positive words for Dr. Dinh and his office staff. From the wonderful chairside manner to the painless procedures, Dr. Dinh makes you feel comfortable and puts any anxiety at ease. Shannon, his office manager, has a calm demeanor and respectfully discusses your treatment and financial options. The quality of care and the care in quality from Dr. Dinh and his staff makes me feel valued as a patient. I will definitely want to come back for all my cleanings and treatments.

I will never patronize this office again and they get zero stars from me for being insensitive about my special needs child who was not bothering anyone. This dentist needs to participate in some sensitivity training for her self & her staff to better respect patients and family's of children with special needs. Poor service DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST she needs to retire and find a new profession she should go into a field where it's ok to be mean and rude to patients and their families. She seems impatient and disrespectful to people with special needs as a matter fact to everyone this lady needs to become a mechanic or a IRS auditor that would probably suit her personality much better. I have contacted the Texas Board of dental examiners as well and will be filing a formal complaint asap about her behavior and lack of competence with disabled children.
