We've been using Visionexcel for many years now ...15 or 20 years in fact, and pretty much exclusively having Glenn work with us. We don't always love what he says or love the answer to our questions....but business is business and I don't know of any business that always gives you the popular/yes answers or even the answer we want. Overall, we are pleased with the service and eyewear we have purchased at this store and Glenn has hung in there with us through the years and provided good quality eyewear and good quality service. You can't beat the staff here. Everyone is always so friendly & helpful. Plus, they have a really great line of designer frames,thankfully my insurance is great & I can always splurge on a pair. My plastic nose piece fell off my glasses on Thursday morning and was causing my glasses to be painful and sit crooked on my face. My usual eye place was closed and so when I looked for an open eye care center Vision Excel was open. I called and had an appointment within 2 hours of when I called. I had never been there and had not bought my glasses there but they assured me they could help. I went to the store, called from the parking lot (Covid-19 protocol!) and a tech came out and got my glasses. in under 5 minutes they had replaced both nose pieces, fixed the bend in the stem and checked the other screws. They also didn't charge me anything! I was so impressed with their customer care even though I had never been there before. They also take my insurance so I will be taking my family there as regular patients now! I am so thankful for their kindness and help! WONDERFUL PLACE and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!! After having problems with my last pair of progressives, I brought the Rx to Glen at VE. They helped me select way cool frames. As soon as I put on my new specs, they were much better than the previous pair. And they cost $150. less than what I previously paid. Go figure. Better service for less $$. I will NEVER go back to this hole in the wall of a place and especially not to rude, obnoxious dr brown . He is the most unprofessional dr ive met in my life . I asked for trial lenses 2 weeks ago because i was out . He told me they would be in on fri. I went and no they were not . I left and got a phone call saying they were in. I live 30 miles from Lake katrine so i wasnt going back . I picked up the trials last fri. Today i had an apt scheduled . I was trying to explain to the front staff that the trial lenses were not correct . That they irritated my eyes, made things blurry and gave me a massive headache after 15 min. They disagreed and said " they are correct" i said ok ill tell the dr .now despite what dr brown thinks, he did not see me last yr it was dr pomerantz . Who is great . After being told very rudely i was in the wrong room (despite them putting me there) i proceeded to tell the good old doc the same story about them being the wrong curveture for my eyes . He kept sayin i was wrong and thats what he wrote down from last yr and they are correct . At the same time He kept telling me it didnt matter just throw them out your getting new lenses after this exam. I simply tried to tell him it mattered to me because i wanted a back up option . He continued to argue with me and insist he was Correct and it didnt matter anyway . I got angry and told him i was leaving and not sitting there to argue nor was i paying for this bs. He stated " yes that is the best thing for you to do " HOW UNPROFESSIONAL !! After storming out and meeting up with my boyfriend in the waiting room he tells me " the dr was out here saying he wasnt going to see you if you were mean to him " what is that?? Ive been going to this place for 4 yrs and ive never been mean to anyone . Again how UNPROFESSIONAL !!! All i tried to do was tell the staff and him the contacts were wrong . I dont see how all the other reviews were excellent . I guess like me they have not had rude unprofessional dr brown yet . What a damn shame this place has come to this . I will tell everyone my story in hopes they will go out of business . read more

Tried to get an appointment and was told if I use my insurance it wouldn't be to the end of September but if I paid $100 cash they could take me sooner. What a bunch of uncaring people, especially since my husband was having a problem. I would never go to a place like this. Disgusting. If you don't like people then get out of the people business. read more

After so many bad experiences, I am so happy to find VisionExcel. The eye exam was really good and the owner (Gene) is very helpful and knows his frames. They let you try out your prescription before committing to a frame. I got 3 pairs of glasses made, distance, reading and sunglasses and they are all perfect. read more

I've been going here for years and have always loved them! Recently, I had an eye infection and was unable to wear my contacts and had just lost my glasses. I called on Wednesday and they said they would hold my prescription lenses for me, both regular and anti-glare so I could choose when I came in on Saturday. I got there at 9:30am and picked out my lenses. They initially told me to come back after an appointment I had at 11am and my glasses would be ready, but when they realized I didn't have anything enabling me to see, they did them right then! I walked out right before 10am with my brand new glasses happier than ever that I could finally see after 2 weeks! I couldn't be more happy with the service at VisionExcel and highly recommend them! read more

I've been a customers for over 15 years and my wife, seeing the service I've received and the great selection, has become one too. Glen has helped me for lenses with odd frames and prescriptions. I've come in many times with bent or loose frames and the staff always repaired them at no charge. As I've waited, I've always been impressed with the patience and attention shown to every customer, whether in person or on the phone.The selection can't be beat and if we can't make up our minds, we've been able to take frames home for a second opinion. I didn't receive my requested annual eye exam due to poor communication among the "professional" staff. But somehow, I received my contact fitting exam. According to other eye exam professionals I have talked to they go hand in hand. Whether it's a miscommunication with the receptionist or not, the doctor should have payed more attention to customers needs. I also wasn't told beforehand of my appointment that I would be charged a contact fitting fee(Insurance doesn't cover). If I would have known, I would have went somewhere else. I think that it is RIDICULOUS to be charged separately for this especially when I have been wearing contacts for years. I even brought the original prescription box in! I was in and out of the doctors office in ten minutes and I get slapped with paying a dumb fee. I have had the same insurance for years and I have never got charged for this. This place isn't worth anyone's time. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more
