My stylist Chrissy was outstanding. She had a personality, she was professional, and she looked at the picture I provided and braided my hair the same way. I am very pleased with my service today. I will make my next appointment with Chrissy. Also, the front desk young lady helped me to reschedule my appointment with someone who could do cornrows. She was very helpful and kind this morning. I got my hair braided at Visions a few weeks ago. It was my first time doing my hair with them, but I will say once I spoke to Binta on the phone she was very easy to talk to, professional, and explained to me the process to achieve the look I wanted which was goddess braids with boho strands. I wanted it mid back, and she sent me their pricing guide, so I knew what to expect upfront. She was also courteous to invite me to the celebration her salon was hosting for their four year anniversary on the day after my braiding appointment. I was really excited to go and get my hair done with them. Once I got there, I had two braiders working on my hair and Binta would jump in occasionally to assist. In total, I was there for maybe 4 hours and they were super gentle on my hair. It was a very clean, modern and inspiring environment to be in. I can tell Binta really loves what she does, and values her customers. Since I haven't done braids in a while, I received so many compliments on my hair the following Monday at work. 1 star is generous. Shame on me for going twice assume my experience would improve. The reviews are likely friends or workers themselves... My first visit my stylist smelled like cannabis, took several breaks, and didn't have the hair when I arrived I had to go to a store in the parking lot to get it. The stylist was extremely slow and many of my invisible locs loosened with 2 days. I like uncommonly supported businesses that are black owned so I decided to take my daughter for back to school. I wanted to avoid a long wait time for back to school. After going through traffic and changing my time by 30 minutes we arrived and our braider was still braiding down another client and easily had another 45 minutes to go. When we arrived another client was disputing a charge and asked to remove her child's braid as she was misquoted a price. This should have been my sign to leave! However again, I want to support and trust that we won't have the same experience. The website says $70 for the style we selected. Instagram says $90 for the same style. I should also mention that they are running a $150 "special" for 3 children at a time which doesn't apply to everyone apparently. I called and sent a picture in for a quote. They waited until I arrived to say "oh the style is $180." This is a cornrow braided style without extensions for a 5 year old. Cornrows in the front and single braids in the back. Not beaded. She mentioned because of the length of her natural hair it would cost more than double the advertised price. Once quoted, I told the worker immediately to cancel the appointment as we've never paid $180 (with $50 deposit and $50 tip). I'm disappointed in this salon. I've also told others to support and immediately after leaving I informed them to never waste time nor money at a salon such as this. I should have went 10 minutes down the road to NADINE'S! Feedback: -Pay transparency is key. Check your sites and add "starting price" to all of your styles. -Hire professional staff members. If you want to give a luxury feel your workers should also represent that. -Get the lock put back on the door. Every 6 minutes someone is coming in selling a product or passing out a sample. The shop is in Eastover- again if "luxury" is how you are advertising your salon please give that. -Lastly, stop shading other salons on your social media. It's low, nasty, and your salon doesn't meet even the standard of a spa like/luxury environment. read more

Not for recommended Crochet Braids Went the first time and loved my hair. Went the second time and the braider started my Crochets too far back. I spoke to the owner about this, and she made sure the next time I came in, the braider started the Crochets closer to my hairline. I went to have crocheted Passion twists installed. When I got there I informed the braider that the back had to look good bc I like to wear my hair up in a ponytail. She said "ok." She braided my hair straight back and down. At the end of the braid, she looped it up, like in a "U" shape. You can see the U shape in the pics below. The same day I got home, I started noticing braids falling out. I didn't know where they came from and my hair still looked full so I didn't bother about calling the salon. Then one day I noticed a piece of my real hair sticking out. I then looked at the back of my hair and saw that the whole back row was loose! When I contacted the salon, they offered to sew down that one piece of hair that had came loose but said they could not redo my hair for free bc it had been two weeks. All I was asking for was a credit to my account, not my whole head being redone for free. I asked how long Crochets are supposed to last and got no response. I have been getting my hair crocheted for at least 5 years and they always last at least a month. Their resolution of sewing that one braid down doesn't address the main issue, which is I cannot wear my hair up bc it looks really bad in the back. Also the "U" pattern she did came up from my scalp and has braids hanging off of it. She didn't even put mousse on my hair when finished. They said that had the stylist known I wanted to wear my hair up, she would have chosen a different braid pattern. I told them I did let the stylist know I wanted to wear my hair up. I've had my hair done at Visions Braid Bar twice and I'm very pleased with my experience. As long as I'm in the DMV they have my business. The first visit was for small Fulani braids and the second was for spring twist. At first I did not like the way my twist came out and I'm chalking it up to the color I chose and length. I called the owner today to discuss it and she was very kind. She definitely didn't have to give me 25 minutes of her time going over options to help meet my needs. I got knotless braids before my vacation. The online experience booking experience was good and their front desk staff was nice and friendly. When I arrived I was surprised to find that the shop is in a run down strip mall with dirty windows and poor overall cleanliness of the shop was poor. Flies were swarming, trash overflowed and no one swept up the old hair. My stylist was very nice but it wasn't enough to make up for the poor facilities. I won't return. read more

really wanted to like this place but I won't be coming back.. My appointment was booked for 1pm but somehow I was not out on the schedule. My appointment was moved to 2:30pm which was okay with me. before I booked my appointment I continuously asked for the pricing. All I was told is "its on the website". The website stated $240 and during my virtual consultation I mentioned that I would like the hair tailbone length. This business needs to work on transparency. If I knew it would cost $360, I would have definitely reconsidered.. Not providing clear and accurate pricing upfront is extremely unprofessional to me. Nevertheless, the actual stylist did a great job and was gentle, thats why I give 3 stars instead of 1. Update: it hasn't even been 2 days and the twists already started opening.. 1 star because I literally wasted my money... Had a wonderful first experience at Visions Braid Bar. I did a lot of research and reviews before trying this place and I'm glad I did because the girlies weren't lying, this place is wonderful. I got large knotless braids in under 3 hours (not including the wash and dry which was about 45 minutes). Binta, the owner, did a thorough consultation of exactly what I wanted and we came up with a plan with the stylist, Vicky. My braids exceeded expectations. I'll for sure be back! And I was hesitant because my last few braiding experiences in DC have been okay, but I ended up redoing a bunch of braids because they didn't look how I hoped--that will not be the case here. I love this spot! They are very professional and extremely clean salon. The women will have you in/out at a reasonable time. My box braids usually take 4 hours or longer but my knotless braids took 3.5 hours. I mean I was out of the door in 3.5 hours and was able to still have the rest of the day. read more

I brought my daughter in for medium box braids about 3 months ago and forgot to post this review. 10/10! The owner of the shop was extremely nice and greeted us immediately. Our appointment was on time we did not have to wait and the braider did exactly what my daughter asked for. The work is top-notch. Binta should start a course "How to Operate an Upscale Braiding Salon". My sister and I came here from PA, b/c we were sick of poorly operated ghetto establishments. Unfriendly, nasty, dirty with old food smells and payment demanded in advance for subpar results. After an exhaustive Google search we found Visions. Sooooo happy we did. First, the area is decent, with safe and free parking. When we got there, Neecy, the receptionist greeted us warmly, offered water and a place to hang our jackets. Our appointment was at 8 am and by 8:05 we were being worked on. Binta, the owner inspected everything, discussed our preferences and made recommendations. She introduced us to our stylists and made everyone feel comfortable. Later, she thanked us for choosing her salon. That is how you run a business. The shop is immaculate, nobody eating food over your head. Once the braiding starts, it continues until it is done. Again, everyone is about their business. Best of all, they accept cards. No more wads of cash in questionable neighborhoods. Yes, they have a deposit policy but it's applied to the final style. While the price point may be higher than some are used to, the atmosphere and results are well worth it. We are over the moon with the results. My twists are stunning and my sister's crochet braids are lit! If you are looking for an upscale braiding salon experience, this is the place! read more
