Doctor is less than friendly, but does get the job done. *Its been a month since my appointment, and I'm still waiting for the sample lenses in my prescription so I can make sure they work before ordering my contacts. *I've called 5x about the above issue. Never get anyone on the phone, and I only get a return call if the Customer Service reps for Visionworks send them a message. This takes on average 30min a call to reach. Went to get fitted for contacts, had first appointment of the day and the doctor was 40 minutes late for work and no apology. Rushed my fitting and gave me contacts to try and I still needed reader glasses to read. Whet there 3 time to finally get lens that worked . Tried to call them to say I liked them and if they could email the prescription and was told they would after being on hold for 25 minutes. Guess what?? 2 days have gone by and no email with prescription. Called today and 35 minutes on hold and nobody answered. This place is pathetic !! Well, I'll have to admit that I got a coupon in the mail from my healthcare provider, Harvard Pilgrim, offering a free pair of glasses if I get an eye exam, I went to Visionworks @ Danvers Plaza for a pair of reading glasses. After my last exam somewhere else a couple years ago, figuring they had to smack the camera to get it to work for my optic nerve picture and handing me my new glasses with a dumb look and no fitting I decided to change optometrists. I had a vision exam and purchased contacts at the Danvers, MA store. I needed a receipt to get reimbursed by my HSA account and they sent it over via email, but the right and left sides are blurred and unreadable. I asked them to resend a cleaner copy because my company rejected it. They said it was a scanner problem and there was NOTHING they could do. Really??? Absolutely dissatisfied with this poorly run business. March 20th was fitted for new eye subscription during a BOGO sale. 2 weeks later the progressive lenses were put in the clear and sunglass combination totally backwards.. 1 week later the, the clear progressive lenses were "way off " according to a more experienced employee. Rush order placed- 1 week later - staff had no information on where that order was.. No empathy shown- no attempt to make amends- bad attitudes & simply gave us a credit to cancel the whole horrible experience.. Staff seems pleasant, very young and geared to sales only interest. Exam went fine but impossible to get anyone on the phone. The only way to communicate is by visiting the store which is annoying when a 2 minute phone call would suffice. After my first visit, I was told what to say in response to the automated prompts in order to get someone to pick up the phone. That was a red flag right there. The second pair was brown speckled pattern and they were HUGE on my face. Like down to my lip line. I figured maybe I made a mistake and I utilized the great return policy and picked out another pair of BROWN framed glasses. BROWN glasses. I wish I could give this place a 0 star review. I went in the other night, they did seem busy but I just needed to fill a glasses and contacts prescription. Already knew the frames I needed along with my prescription I obtained from my doctor. Well, no one acknowledged me while I was at the counter asking if someone could help me meanwhile understanding they were busy. I just wanted to make myself present. One girl scoffed and said "I'm already 15 minute past the time I was suppose to leave, we're not allowed to get overtime." First of all, that's not how you handle a customer - second of all I don't care about your stores overtime policy. I'm there to ask if someone could help me. A simple "sorry, I'll get someone to help you, do you mind waiting a few minutes?" Or "absolutely let me help you and pass you to someone else once they get a minute." Went to Visionworks today to get my annual eye exam and everything went well through the exam and the tests. I guess my biggest beef with this Vision Works center is there is no answering machines and I have called three times today and let the phone ring until I canceled with no one picking up and it does not go to an answering machine. Tomorrow I go back to work and it may be tough for me to get a call-in before I get home at 6 PM so I'm wondering how I do my follow up next week when I can't get through to them on the telephone to set up an appointment. I do understand it's end of year and everyone is trying to use their FSA and their benefits before they expire but for a large operation I would assume they should at least have an answering service to get back to their clients when things slow down. It is just my suggestion because there's a lot of competition around for their clients to go elsewhere if needed.I do want to say yeah Eye Doctor herself was very good in the staff that they had trying to help everyone was decent. read more

I was getting headaches a lot, and slowly realized my glasses were not quite right anymore. Scheduled an eye exam with this place. It was all really great! The exam was professional and thorough, I thought the gals in the front were lovely, and very friendly, and I didn't feel pressured when I was picking out frames to get the most expensive ones. To be fair, I added all the fancy extras on my own, because I didn't with my last pair, and regretted it, so perhaps that's why I didn't get any of the hard sell the other reviews mention. Went to visionworks today with my two small kids to get my son glasses. I walk in and two opticians are not busy helping anyone, Patricia says to me "how can I help you?" And I ask her to see if she can check what my vision insurance covers. She says to me that the other optician (I'm not sure of her name but she was a tall blonde woman) could help me with that because the other optician is "better" at checking that. Another customer walks in and that "other" optician goes to help that new customer who had just walked in. I say that I was waiting to get helped and Patricia instead has the front desk woman check that information for the insurance for me. Another gentleman walks in and is told to wait. Once the blonde optician is finished with that first customer she took before me, she helps the gentleman who came in after me. Patricia goes to help a customer who comes out of his eye exam. So a TOTAL 3 clients were helped before I got any help, and Patricia (the one who told me to wait for the other optician) ends up being the one to help me anyway. Overall I'm very disappointed in the service I received today. It seems that they don't want to help people with kids as it maybe be a "hassle" for them. You would think they'd want to help me first since my 4 year old and 2 year old are curious and like to touch everything in the store. But nope. Will be searching somewhere else that takes my insurance. read more

I made an eye exam appointment for 10am to avoid missing too much of my work day. I arrived 15 minutes early (as they had asked me to do) and the doors were locked until 10am. The optometrist was running 20 minutes late. When she eventually showed up I was told the computers were down so she wouldn't be able to perform the exam for an hour. Worst experience ever. I scheduled an appointment online and got a confirmation email, text and phone call. On the phone call the girl asked me what kind of insurance I have and I told her. I said I do not have my card yet, but it is coming in the mail and I didn't know if I'd have it in time for the appointment. She said that's fine as long as we can look you up in the system. I ended up getting my card in the mail that night. The NEXT day I went in for my appointment and they said my insurance company's website is down and it's been down the past 3 days and my insurance card means nothing if they can't look up the number. Why wasn't I told this the day before when I was on the phone with them? They give me the option to pay out of pocket and I decide to just reschedule. So it's the next week I go in for my appointment, get my eye exam and there's an extra 60 dollar charge for a contact exam, I've never heard of such a thing. That brings me to 90 dollars just for the exam. Then I pick out glasses I love and am told they are too big and she doesn't 'have a big enough lens' for the frames??? So I have to try on 30 more pairs of glasses I don't like and end up purchasing a pair I don't like because I was consistently told to do so. I wish I just said never mind and went somewhere else for the frames. $350 later I'm extremely pissed off and disappointed. And I have to go back two more times for trial contacts and then for an hour to learn how to put contacts in. I've been wearing contacts half my life. I am in utter disbelief. read more

Since the change to Visionworks, this place has gotten much better. Prior when they were Cambridge Eye, they had a terrible selection of bogus glasses that were covered by insurance. Now the selection is much better. The quality of lenses has also gotten better compared to the old store. I just find some of the sales staff to be a little strange and moody. read more

Very bad. I have an insurance plan that allows me one pair of free eyeglasses per year (for which I pay insurance premiums). Of course you have to wait through the usual paragraphs and paragraphs of why you should "upgrade" to something better than the free pair. But I tough it out and come out with a decent pair or reading spectacles. UNTIL THIS YEAR! I dread eye exams, being that I am terrified of anything or anyone coming anywhere close to touching my eyes. I made an appointment here after years of procrastinating, and I am happy to say that my experience was not nearly as horrific as I anticipated. It was actually pleasant enough that I am considering returning to ask for contacts (still working up to that, though). The doctor was extremely nice, patient and thorough in her exam. And she didn't make fun of me for my eye-phobia. The office workers were very helpful in choosing frames that would suit my face and in fitting the glasses. I've worn glasses most of my life. The one thing I dread every year is picking out new glasses. I was a bit weary to try this location because of other reviews but I thought I'd give this place a try anyway. The staff at this location was very welcoming and helpful. I was greeted upon arrival, and given my paperwork. Once in with the doctor, I felt very comfortable with her. She took the time to answer any questions I had. After the exam it was time for me to look for glasses. They explained my benefit to me and gave me time to look. Visionworks has a large selection and it was a bit overwhelming but the staff was willing to help me. The staff helped me pick out a few pairs and they all have me their honest opinions!! What else could you ask for?! I had a great experience at visionworks. Even though the staff was quite busy at the time, I did not feel like I was rushed or forgotten about. Original post: I have two pairs of glasses I can not use. I have returned the sunglasses times and the Y200 is still blurring the lens so i can not use them. They keep telling me that is the way all sunglasses are but when I showed them to my original eye doctor they laughed and showed me how small on out of the line of vision their make is. Paul does not listen and just keeps telling me the Y200 will wear off in time. How? My regular eyeglasses are so tight they hurt and I honestly believe I got the glasses of the child that was shopping at the same times but I have been told several times they are what I ordered. I've been bringing my daughter to a pediatric eye doctor for her eye appts in Lexington. I live in Peabody. This was very inconvenient so I thought I would like to try someplace closer now that she is a little older. I had a great experience. The ladies at the front counter, the Doctor and the gentleman that helped her choose her new pair of glasses were all very helpful and nice. I had a great experience at VisionWorks Danvers, I went in for my yearly eye exam and Dr. Takrimi, was great, she personable and funny, made my exam easy and entertaining. I got my new script and was planning to leave, but browsed around a bit, didn't have much time, and honestly wasn't planning on buying a new pair, just yet, my plan didn't allow for frame coverage till January.As I looked around, I was a bit disappointed in the selection at first, because my favorite frames brand, has very limited choices for my big noggin, and VisionWorks doesn't carry any either at this point. Since I started wearing glasses a decade ago, it has been the only brand I've owned, and I resist change. Leanne, helped me with some other choices and I did find something suitable and even though I hate change and was resistant, I knew it would be best. I explained to her, that I wasn't going to purchase till January because of my coverage, the look of disappointment on her face was sad to me, I realize she's a salesperson and I felt bad I was wasting her time. Leanne, was understanding, and stated that there might be a special promo I could take advantage of, she checked and was able to offer it to me. It was actually better than what my plan was going to cover anyway, so making the purchase that day was feasible. Leanne was great, helping with my selection, even thought she knew I was having 2nd thoughts about going with the brand I always trusted, even though they didn't actually fit ideally and the new brand that had the extended size for my big noggin. She assured me that the other brand which is also a popular well known brand name was very good quality, and that in the long run, having a proper fitting eye-wear will outweigh my fears of change. After all was said and done, I made a great purchase with their best progressive smart screen lenses at a fantastic price, much better than I expected. Customer service is terrible. Took over an hour to get glasses ordered now trying to pick them up and was told take a seat and we'll be with you shortly. I should have asked define shortly as I'm still waitin 1/2 hour later. They smile at me at tell me they'll be with me shortly. Last time I ever visit this store. Today I accidentally stepped on my glasses and damaged the frames. Thinking I needed a new frame I went to Visionworks in Danvers. The woman who greeted us asked if I would like her to try and fix them. They were bent and in 2 pieces and felt they were hopeless. She was able to straighten the frames and reconnect the arm. They are as good as new. She did not charge me just said she was happy she could help. I can tell you my entire family from now on will buy all our glasses at Visionworks! I've gone to Vision Works (formerly Cambridge Eye Doctors) for YEARS! The staff is great, especially the manager Angela and the Lab Tech Eugenio. Angela is always funny, polite and honest and the Lab Tech always cuts my glasses while I wait. The staff is very nice and as for pricing... I have priced most of the local eye shops as well as the big chains and Vision Works is definitely cheaper!!! I love my glasses every year. They're great!! read more

These were out of warranty and I was 10 days out from getting new glasses from another visionworks so did not want to spend alot. Glasses weren't ready when they said they would be. They said do NOT call, we will call you if they are late. No one called but there 3 were associates sitting around with nothing to do when I arrived. I finally go to get them and get back to work to discover they are crooked. Nice. I have worn progressives for 8 years and everytime I turn my head, I get dizzy. Quality of the lens? I have 3 children and limited time so decided to book 2 of my children for appointments at this location. We arrived and I was a bit overwhelmed at the number of staff members. 6 staff working in store and not one of them could smile the entire time we were there. The "doctor" was not nice to my children and actually yelled at my 11 year old daughter. My daughters were both quiet and well behaved and timid during the visit. There was no reason for her to yell. After the appointment the doctor then was reprimanding one of the many staff members there as we were looking at glasses. Ultimately decided to just take the prescription to another provider because of the poor customer service. Looked at the paperwork from the doctor which I can barely read and half of the information was left blank. Thank you for wasting my time! read more

Let me start out by saying I have gotten my glasses many times at Costco and each time PERFECT!. Since Visionworks is accepted as part of my vision insurance coverage I decided to go to their Danvers location to fill my prescription from my opthamologist. I found Visionworks has a very good selection of frames and I was happy with the frames I chose. One week later went in to pick up my new glasses and as soon as I put them on I new there was a problem. I could not see anything clearly. Voiced my concerns to technician who took time to make adjustments but to no avail. I still could not see. To make a long story short tech blamed doctor for wrong script. Return to doctor for second exam. Doctor blamed Visionworks. Vision works found that they made mistake on measurement but when corrected pair of glasses arrived I still could not see clearly. I am now out $350. A waste of time and money. I would not recommend Visionworks to anyone.! ! ! read more

Initially was referred to by someone, I was told under my health insurance coverage that the eye exam would be free and that their would be a significant discount on my contacts. Made an appointment and was seen by the optician where at every single opportunity she felt it was necessary to undermine me about my lack of knowledge in the ocular field (last i checked that wasn't my job). Was told didn't need to bring in any previous records upon my first visit and the fact that i didn't have them with me or anything for the optician to reference was just another thing that was used to belittle me. After an uneasy first visit i was given a set of trial lenses (which are awful and scratch the living hell out of my eyes) I was told to get information from my previous optician concerning my previous power ratings for my contact and brands. Upon calling in and telling this information to someone in an attempt to finally order some new contact lenses (my last set are in my eyes right now) I was told i would yet need even further information concerning the surface area measurement of my previous contacts. Not only could the girl on the line not decipher what i was talking about the pricing was absolutely ridiculous. Honestly my eye sight is absolute shit and without a way to see i'm pretty much handicapped, the whole lack luster manner in which this whole ordeal was handled has definitely left me with a sour and bitter taste in my mouth. I'm all set.... this company and its staff can kick rocks....i'll shell out the money to someone who actually knows what they're doing..... read more
