I feel compelled to share my experience to warn others. I purchased two pairs of Ray-Ban sunglasses from this location on April 16 -- one regular pair and one pair of Meta sunglasses. When I returned just two days later to return one pair, the store manager, Suzanne, flat-out refused. First she said they don't accept returns on "floor samples," then changed her reasoning to "non-prescription glasses." When I asked to see the return policy, she wouldn't show it to me and simply said she was the associate in charge and wouldn't allow it. Even more disturbing, when the associate who sold me the sunglasses (Jameel) appeared confused by her response, she publicly scolded him and accused us of some kind of collusion -- right in front of me. It was awkward, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate. Despite the receipt and ForEyes' website clearly stating a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee and allowing returns within 30 days, Suzanne refused to honor it. I had to make multiple calls to customer service over several weeks before I was finally able to speak with a regional manager, who had to personally step in and get the store to issue my refund -- over a month after the original purchase. I did eventually get my money back, but it should not have taken that level of persistence. This store's manager was dismissive, rude, and out of line. I will not be returning, and I recommend others shop elsewhere or online to avoid similar treatment. read more

Great experience here! The whole staff was very friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to help me confirm policy information and make sure I got the best deal possible. My eye exam was swift but thorough. I felt like it was the perfect combination of efficiency and quality care. The purchase of my glasses and contacts was so smooth. There was no pressure to up sell frames or lenses, the staff actually told me I looked better in the cheaper frames. I've been meaning to write this for a while. I want to give a shout out to Suzanne Dasilva, the store manager at For Eyes in Saugus. I have been going to For Eyes for a few years. Every time I go, Suzanne has either helped me personally, or has somehow been involved in my purchase...from offering additional advice as to which glasses look best, making sure I get the best price/deal, or helping a sales associate provide me with the best and quickest service, so I do not have to wait. Suzanne definitely knows her stuff and is very involved with making sure each client gets the highest level of service. Let's go back to 1998 for a moment here because that's when this girl got glasses. Yup! So what, it's been 13 years since I've been a For Eyes customer. Do I get an award for that? I think I get an award. Wow.. really. I can't believe it. So, what can I say wrong about the place that I've continued to do business with even after being of age to change doctors if I wanted to? Nothing. The staff is fantastic, I see the same ladies all the time as I have growing up and that is comforting. Dr D'Angelo is and awesome guy; quick and efficient. I rarely spend more than 10-15 minutes from start to finish in there unless I go early or stay after to browse the glasses selection. I've had personal eye troubles and I can no longer wear contacts (I used to!), which stinks but he's helped me try all sorts of brands to try and wear but unfortunately it hasn't worked. I'll actually be trying a punctual plug thing soon, hopefully I can do contacts! Located on route one south more on the north side like if you passed Christmas Tree Shop and before the Salvation Army; that little plaza there with the 9s. I TOTALLY recommend For Eyes to anyone in the market for an eye doctor. The glasses prices are some-what reasonable. I've done my fair share of glasses shopping and always try and compare their stock to others; For Eyes has both the cheap selection and the pricey selection and all in-between. They offer anything that any other eye glasses place would have; final prices always depend on your insurance though so just know what your plan offers. read more

She is honestly the only person I would trust when picking out glasses and having them adjusted. Went in for a eye exam. Total professionals with very kind pleasent adittudes. I had no idea that my health insurance covered eye exams until they told me. Saved me a ton of money. Not only that my new glasses were cheaper than any other place i have gone to. This was the first time I had been in this For Eyes store and it will be my last. The manager was very abrupt and rude to both a trainee and to an older gentleman who was explaining that he had never received a call that his glasses were ready and that every time he called, he got a message saying that "We're sorry we missed your call" and then it would disconnect. The manager pointed around the store, which was rather crowded at the time and said in a sarcastic tone, "Do you see how busy we are?? Do you think we have the time to pick up the phone??" In her defense, the store was busy with every associate waiting on people and customers waiting, but if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. She was also rather short with the trainee who was waiting on us. I was also dismayed that every station was being used; we were asked to sit at a vacant station while we waited but that put us very close to the couple being waiting on at the next station. I am only sorry that my husband will have to go back there to pick up the glasses he ordered. I'm going somewhere else to order mine. read more

A fellow teacher had a student who had been without glasses for a few weeks because his glasses were broken. My friend was looking for an eyeglass store nearby. I recommended For Eyes. I've been going to this particular For Eyes for a few years now and really enjoy my doctor, Dr. D'Angelo. I'm writing specifically today to praise Claire for her help over the weekend. I stopped in to purchase a pair of the theatrical contacts for my Halloween costume and Claire was extremely helpful. Even though she couldn't find the exact custom contacts I wanted, she continued to search. She even called the lab, and 2 or 3 other locations to ask for assistance on how to find these contacts. There was another clerk, and I can't remember her name right now, but she was the exact opposite of Claire. Claire suggested calling the lab and the clerk said, "Good luck getting in touch with them". Then Claire told me she would call them again first thing Monday morning, the same clerk repeated, "Good luck". I believe she said it a third time in response to something similar when I finally told her that it wasn't a very positive attitude and she laughed and told me she was only saying it because Monday is a holdiay. I was not laughing. Claire didn't seem to pay her any mind. I don't think she understood the concept of customer service and for someone like me who works in customer service, I know that customers don't appreciate that negativity. I'm glad I was originally working with Claire from the beginning and she continued to go the extra mile for me, taking both my personal and work numbers down and clearly determined to do whatever it took to get me exactly what I wanted. read more

I was in the shopping plaza, leaving a store and my favorite and only prescription sunglasses fell off my head and i stepped on them, omg they were so out of whack, they are my favorite sunglasses, I've had them for five years. I could not believe right in front of me was an eyeglass store. I walked in with my juicy glasses in hand, very bent, and missing my lens, and immediately the service man, said, oh boy i can help you fix them, he immediately took them and started to work on them!! He put the lens back in and even gave me new nose pads. I was not a customer nor a patient there. Everyone was so helpful and they wouldn't let me pay. He cleaned them, put a new screw in and adjusted on my face. Andrew is so nice and helpful, its hard to find service like that. This eye store is a great hidden gem. Ive never had service on my glasses like that before., i will be back for glasses soon when i get my eyes checked! Thank you for making my day and fixing my glasses! read more

Some of these negative reviews seems a little nitpicky to me so I did some research on my own. After making a few phone calls to the "let's save some $" places (For Eyes, BJ's, Target, Sears) asking questions about their specials, my specific RX, etc. For Eyes had the edge on the best deal (strong Rx requires different lenses which offsets their (and others) 2 for $99 pricing and other specials) so off to For Eyes. Had a very helpful salesperson and a trainee. I'll update when I get my glasses but for right now I'm pretty satisfied with the customer service and price. Got 2 pair: regular with anti-reflective along with the protection plan (full replacement). Got the protection plan because after 15 years with my old pair, my puppy thought they were a fun chew toy! 2nd pair: Rx sunglasses. Total $298. Definitely more than I had initially anticipated spending but after the phone calls, I feel I got a good deal. Also found out that I can save minimum $20 (up to $80) on my bifocal contacts. Last purchase was 15 years ago -- same thing (at a different place) 1 pair regular / 1 pair sunglasses and that set me back $700... 15 YEARS AGO. Now off to a nice pricey lunch. :-) read more

I went to For Eyes on a Saturday, looking for my first pair of bifocals. There were three other groups in there looking at glasses. One of the first things I noticed was that, aside for the "2 for $99" frames, the majority of the glasses I tried on were filthy. I had four pair in my hand that I wanted to try on, but needed them cleaned in order to really see what they looked like on. I told one of the workers that the lenses were dirty, and she gave me some spray and tissues so I could clean them myself! I finally decided on a pair of frames, and went to the counter. There were two workers there at that time. One was on the computer, and the other was with a family who was waiting while their teenage son looked at the frames. It took almost 15 minutes for the guy on the computer to finish up and help me (the teenage boy was still looking at frames). I knew there was a Groupon for Fir Eyes, so I asked the salesperson to tell me how much the glasses would cost with my insurance discount, as well as with the Groupon. He wrote down both price quotes - and even wrote down "with Groupon" next to the (much) lower price. I went home and purchased a Groupon, and returned on Sunday to buy the glasses. I went to the sa,e salesman, and handed him his price quote (it had the numbers for my frames, etc.) and the Groupon. He then proceeded to tell me that the price would be $200 higher because I would need different lenses, and a warranty package in order to use the Groupon. I reminded him that the price he quoted was for the Groupon, but he didn't get it. I then asked to speak with the manager. The manager had been sitting two desks down the whole time, and had not intervened. When I went over to him, he just said , "Yeah, I heard the whole thing. Just get your money back from Groupon. Goodbye." I left there furious! And, no, you cannot just "get your money back from Groupon." You can get a credit, but not your money back. With the Groupon, For Eyes was the highest priced place of all four of the different optical stores I stopped in. And the service was horrendous! read more

Never EVER going back there again or recommending anyone to do so. The regular optometrist was on vacation so I guess I got a fill in. She (I don't want to leave her name) was unprofessional, in my opinion. I happened to have a eye sty at the time. After she tested my eyes, we discussed what to do about it. Her diagnosis was frightening. She told me it wasn't a sty, but didn't know what it actually was. She insisted I see a doctor who's specialty was plastic surgery. He was a friend of hers located in Brookline. She kept on recommending I see her doctor friend, even when I suggested other alternatives. I left there scared from her persona and lack of knowledge as to what I was dealing with. I was lucky enough to get a walk in with an ophthalmologist that I previously used. He told me it was definitely a sty and what to do when I got home, (bless him). If he hadn't been able to see me, I would have suffered with the sty, not to mention the mental anguish, until I could have seen a professional that could diagnose a sty that should have been apparent to anyone experienced in eye care.
