She helped me navigate questions about insurance and clearly had my best interest at heart. Veenu Gill O.D. provided my care with the same warmth and efficiency. She answered my questions, explained what she was doing, and was incredibly thoughtful with her recommendations. Because of these two women (and Jessica, who was taking notes), my visit was easy, comfortable, and somehow enjoyable. Do yourself a favor and go to this location if you need care (or just a pair of glasses!). You'll be glad you did it from the moment you schedule the visit (great scheduling system) to when you walk out the door.

They were loved by the community and their customer care was impeccable. Tommy could deal with anyone... even a few crabby dissatisfied customers but he was ALWAYS able to work with EVERYONE and he always took the high road. These reviews were well earned by HIM. The establishment was bought out by Christina and Enrico Palmerino several years ago now. They also own several other local Optical shops.. one is in Brooklyn New York. Since they took over in Newburyport the new business has received only 4 yelp reviews... 2 (5) star reviews and 2 (1) star reviews. Where I am from this is a significant red flag showing that this business needs improvement. It is also sad that Chrisina and Enrico did not wipe out Tommy's reviews because he and Dianne and several other employees worked very hard for those reviews! They should not be inherited they should be earned! My experience with the new owners has been rocky and unpleasant. The acting manager Clark Goodwin is a big part of the problem here at this business. Clark is moody, dismissive and he talks down to good customers. I returned 2 pairs of high end glasses three years ago and he was livid with me and he behaved unprofessionally towards me. Clark Goodwin sadly is the antithesis of what Tommy Collins was! I want to warn ALL of my disabled veteran friends , my healthcare friends ( retired RN here) and all the wonderful seniors in the area to take your business somewhere else. This company has no heart... they are a family of millionaires who could care less about customers and providing quality services to the residents of Newburyport. I really miss Tom Collins and his staff ... I just wish that Tom had screened the new owners more carefully. Buyer beware... this establishment is a greedy wolf in sheep's clothing. Do NOT trust Clark Goodwin with your money or your time. He should get out of the eye wear profession and maybe consider a new career in the Dept of Corrections. The prisons need employees with lousy dispositions like Clark. Good Riddance Market Unfair Optical! I cannot wait until the day that I drive by that shop and a new shop is there -one that actually cares about eye care and about HELPING customers in downtown Newburyport !

It will be 10 weeks this Monday since I had my eye exam and was fitted for my glasses . At the 4 week mark I called left a message and received no reply . I then called 6 more times . Sometimes they said they were closed and would get back to me (they didn't) sometimes these were times that were posted as open online. Other times it said they were with a patient and would get back to me they didn't There hours seem to be whatever they feel like . This week they were closed Monday open Tueday 2 to 6 closed Wed and Thursday Friday 2 to 6 and today Saturday they opened at 3:30 and now it's 4:46 and online says closing soon open Tuesday at 2 pm . Finally I've had to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission , the consumer division of the Mass Attorney General's office , and the customer service of my insurance company . I'm not exaggerating when I say this is my worst experience with a business

We had to wait for 45 MINUTES for them to place his order. Then we were told it would take 10 days for the order to be completed. NO one had called to let me know if they were in so I called back 10 days later and the voicemail message said they were CLOSED FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS. Why couldn't they have told me that when I placed my order! WE ARE NEVER GOING BACK

Dave and Kristen are truly passionate about eyeglasses. Dealing with a local business versus a…read morechain store makes for a better experience. When they were able to cut a new lens for me in house turned a big problem into no problem.

STAY AWAY! READ REVIEWS BELOW "RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL STAFF"…read moreI am now going to go into detail about the dispute that occurred today at the Eye Appeal Office. There was no space for it on the online form: 1) I left a message over the phone for the Eye Appeal office that I would prefer different nose pads on my glasses so that they would be prepared when I came to see Dr. Chung about my contact lenses. My complaint is not against the doctor; it is against David Thompson, the optician. 2) I was waiting for the doctor, and David Thompson asked for my glasses to change the nose pads. When he had my glasses in his hands he said loudly, "No one has ever asked to have these nose pads changed." I said simply, "Well, that's what I want." I did not yell, swear, or say anything more. 3) David Thompson then raised his voice again and told me not to speak rudely to him. Then, the whole office staff ( which is comprised of his daughter and girlfriend) started yelling at me! I was actually afraid. His girlfriend then chimed in that I had been rude to her also. See whether the reader thinks this is rude: My communication with her involved my being fitted with contact lenses. After Dr. Chung told me to put my contact lenses in, Thompson's girlfriend had me come to her station and told me to look in the mirror with my new glasses on to "see" if they looked okay. With both the contact lenses and glasses in, I couldn't see anything properly! I simply told her that I could not see, but she just wanted to continue, not answering me. I then simply said, "You don't understand what I mean." Again, I did not yell or swear. Apparently, she thought it was rude of me to express my frustration at not being able to see my new glasses with my contact lenses on. Apparently, she, like her boyfriend, David Thompson, has a very low threshold for anyone's opinion or slight criticism. I must add here that the three of them would have continued to be hostile and yell at me if I hadn't diffused the situation. I simply said, "You've made up your mind" and then started to chuckle. They were fortunately totally thrown off by this because, as I've said, they love to fight. I was grateful that my tactic worked. 4) Even before the whole staff starting yelling at me, David Thompson said to me, "I don't want to ever speak to you again." So, what recourse do I have but to file this complaint for my warranty services? If he won't speak to me, how can I receive services? Furthermore, with the temper he (and his girlfriend and daughter) exhibited, I am actually afraid of him and do not want any more dealings with him. Even if he consented to talk with me and supply the warranty promised, if need be, it would be a very uncomfortable and fear-inducing interaction. 5) Furthermore, it must be noted that his whole staff (again, his staff being his girlfriend and daughter) will obviously DENY what I am saying. It is them against me. These people are chomping at the bit to have a fight. 6) I have worn glasses since age 16 and had to visit doctors of optometry, optometrists, and opticians' offices on numerous occasions and never had any experience like this. Their behavior is totally unprofessional and defensive. 7) I have documented the receipt, which includes the $40 warranty on two pairs of glasses (total $80) and also included reviews on Healthgrades that include descriptions by other customers who describe David Thompson's angry and unprofessional behavior: He is "an atrocity and a hot headed loose canon." On more than one occasion, he swore at the customers and called them liars and was "very aggressive and unreasonable." 8) In addition to all this, either his daughter or girlfriend marked the place I look through in my glasses (I wear progressives for near and far vision) so that my ability to see properly is off, and I am looking through the wrong part of the lenses to see. Response to my original review (above) David Thompson responded to my extremely accurate review written in July of 2021. He is trying to make himself look good and reasonable. I have never had such a scary experience in my life. I should have called the police, but if I did, they would deny that they were yelling at me because they are all in cahoots because they are personally related to one another ( David T.; his girlfriend; and his daughter). David T. says he would honor my warranty, but he intimidates and yells at people so that the people he has treated this way would never dare to even enter his workplace. The opthalmologist was very good. If the optical shop was ever affiliated with Davis Vision, they no longer are. The person who wrote that David T. is a "loose canon" is absolutely correct. AI Overview: Learn more "Reviews for Eye Appeal products and optical centers are generally positive, though some reviewers have had less favorable experiences". I am one of the people who had a "less than favorable experience," and that's a supreme understatement in my case.
