I showed up for my 1pm appointment and all I've done so far is be ushered around like cattle to view the limited selection of frames, then wait to be called for random tests, then be told to wait some more. I'm writing this review at 2:43 when I finally pushed back on the staff for me to leave but had I not been borderline rude then I have no doubt I'd still be in the store! That kind of wait is INSANE for any initial medical appointment, especially an eye exam! I get that Saturday appointments are popular but the staff should be preparing clients for this kind of wait, especially when they have the parking lot full of patients! I had to park at the facility next door and walk over which is fine in theory but seriously, you can't warn people that are new clients? This is quantity not quality and it's not the fault of the employees at the desks, they're just doing their job the best they can. I won't return to a Visionworks ever again. I've had more prompt and personalized care at a Costco Eye center than here! No thanks, I won't be back. read more

I usually hate the process of getting new glasses but going to Visionworks in Hendersonville made it super easy. Scheduling a timely appt with an Optometrist via their website was a piece of cake. I arrived early as requested, filled out my paperwork, and had a chance to look at frames while I waited. Was called pretty quickly and seeing the doctor was a breeze. I only had to wait a few minutes, which allowed more frame shopping before I was called upon for the hard part IMO - choosing frames and lenses in my budget. Michael P made the process so smooth and easy!! I picked the frames and he quickly pulled up my insurance info and talked me through the types and cost would be after insurance. I think we had the whole process done in 10 minutes. Michael P was able to find the lenses, setup the order, gave me the cost, I paid and was told they'd be ready in an hour very quickly. Even though it was quick, I never felt pressure or hurried. I got a text AND an email about 30 minutes later letting me know they were ready. Michael P greeted me, grabbed my new glasses, and we put them on. He was very particular in getting the frames to fit on my face and behind my ears perfectly. I was in and out in 10 minutes. It was an absolutely stress-free transaction as the Customer Service from the Front Desk, the Optometrist, to Michael P was excellent. I just returned Home after spending the most productive hour and a half I will spend this week. I realized upon my visit I was in the midst of a professional retail establishment. It sometimes can be easy to determine the value of merchandise but the value of knowledge can be hard to identify and measure. Jaimie and Susan could not have been more knowledgeable, personable and communicative. To adroitly explain technical information to a laymen figuratively requires 2020 insight! Not the best experience. I walked in and was not greeted immediately but eventually was acknowledged after I stood around waiting. The optometrist had terrible bedside manner. He walked in the room, but didn't even look me in the eye. He hardly acknowledged me as he flipped the light off and proceeded to ask me questions with this back turned. I paid for 2 glasses worth almost $200 for my daughter and that's already with insurance and 50% promo from Vw. To me that's not too bad, I paid more for my own glasses previously. My issue with Vw is, we pay lots of money for these expensive glasses, the least you can do is to provide free cleaning cloths just like any other store like LensCrafters or even Walmart. You mean to say we have to pay for a cleaning kit? But I only need a cloth to go with the case to clean her glasses. Bc of this tiny detail I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. FYI we didn't go there for her eye exam. We just brought the prescription from a great doctor who's clinic is in Mount Juliet. Too bad his clinic was demolished by the tornado. I went to this place I believe 4 times and have spoken to both of the optometrists there regarding my eye. Was told that my eye is really dry and that I need to purchase certain eye drops from the store and put it in until it heals... well it didn't do anything. So instead of wasting more time going to this place, I went to another optometrist for a second opinion and didn't tell them about my experience here at visionworks. The second she saw my eye, she explained (in detail) what was wrong with my eye and immediately prescribed me antibiotics and referred me over to an eye surgeon for additional treatment. I informed her that I've been putting in these certain eye drops the past few weeks and she said that those eye drops will not fix the problem and that I needed something stronger. And because my eye is not healing properly (it's scarring and it's on top of my pupil) , I need to go to a surgeon otherwise the scar will permanently blur my vision . Basically, DO NOT go to this store for any medical reasons! They clearly did not care! They just wanted me to keep going back to them so that a claim can be submitted to my insurance and they can get paid. On top of all of this, it's not only costing me time but it's also costing me more money to finally get this issue resolved. People's eyes are not a joke and they should NOT be treated the way these 2 optometrists did. read more

So I called visionworks, and after I explained what I had done, they said I should come I immediately.... There is bad customer service. There is horrific customer service. And then there is Visionworks customer service - a level so low that it deserves its own special name. I went to the location in Hendersonville in mid December as it had been too long since I had gotten new glasses (I figure the longer I put off getting bifocals the longer I can pretend I still dont need them. Unfortunately at some point sliding my glasses down my nose to read didnt work as I was running out of nose.) I met with the doctor and he was very nice. He gave me my new prescription for glasses and tried me out for contacts as well. I discussed my glasses options with the salesperson (when one is very blind frames have to be big enough to fit the lenses.) I paid a small fortune for two pair of glasses plus the 50 each for my lens and contact prescriptions and was told my glasses would be done in two weeks - but that it is usually quicker. My family went on vacation a week later so I figured when we got back - almost three weeks after I had ordered, my glasses would be done. I went by the store and was told they were not in yet, but they expected them soon. 5 more days passed and I received a phone call telling me my glasses would be delayed a bit (by this point it was mid January). I went by the store that Sunday to ask what the hold up was as it had been a long time. After waiting a while to be seen, one of the salespeople went searching in the back rooms for a while. Then when he returned, the salesperson came out and told the manager that he needed her to find out what was happening with my my glasses. She went into the back room and after spending more of my time, she came out and told me that my lenses were on backorder and my glasses would not be ready until the End of February. I immediately asked for my money back only to be told that she could not refund the exam charge as I had received the exam. I was less than happy about that as I certainly had no plans to purchase anything from Visionworks again. As she was processing my refund I asked for my prescriptions. She gave me the glasses prescription but told me I would have to see the doctor again before she could give me my contact prescription. I then waited another 30 minutes to see the doctor, but by then it was 5:00. I had already spent an hour and a half in the store and had to leave. I stated that I wanted the refund for my contact prescription since they wouldnt give it to me, but she claimed 'corporate policy' and refused. Rarely have I had the displeasure of meeting a confluence of ineptitude, poor corporate policy and terrible customer service as I did as Visionworks. read more

Before you go here don't , also you should Google them and find out about this co. as a whole. They will overcharge you and offer you fake discount card. Apparently they charge you and then subtract that amount and call it a discount, then if you try to use again they then tell you it's a one time discount. Then they tell you they have to order and tell you they will call when comes in but guess what they don't. If there was a 1/2 a star option that is what I would choose. However, I do have to start by saying that the doctor was the only good part about the visit and he had a good sense of humor. After the exam, everything went downhill fast. The staff is anything but professional and were petty, plus rude to each other in front of a customer (me). The one employee assisting me was snappy in tone of voice and showed that being as work was the last place they wanted to be. The other employee that entered in the charges on the glasses automatically added in extra charges without asking if I wanted them and then got a major attitude when I told to take them off after I demanded to see itemization of the bill. The glasses were promised in a few days and it has been weeks. When I called for status, I was on hold for over 5 minutes with no hold music/or any noise and I had to keep checking my phone to make sure I hadn't been disconnected. Then I was transferred again and placed on hold another 3 minutes only to be told by a very disgruntled sounding employee that my order was STILL not ready. This will be the one and ONLY time I ever use their service again! read more

This place pretty much only has bad reviews but actually had a very positive experience here. I have a pretty complicated prescription/eye history and was fitted with RPGs a couple of years ago but have never very successful at wearing them. Dr. Jenkins was very knowledgable and recognized the problems I had stemmed from them being ill-fitting. He patiently worked with me till we got it right. I had multiple follow up appointments and they were great about working me in. Staff was kind and courteous. Can't speak for the other docs, but the guy I went to was great. He works Sunday, Monday, and Thursday. read more

I went in with monovision contacts and came out with bifocal contacts! I did not even know they made such a thing! Great experience every year. My entire family goes here. 2 year old- 78 year old mother. The staff is always nice and work diligently to get us in and out in a timely manner. Those that complain about wait time in a doctors office always amaze me. This is a practice that takes appointments and walk ins. It's a optometric practice, not McDonalds. My husband just dropped off our son's glasses for repair and upon walking into your location after his temperature was checked, he stated that no greeted or even acknowledged his presence! Another customer entered and cut right in front of my husband and went straight to the counter and was helped right away! When my husband looked at the 2 ladies at the counter with a shocked face, that is when a young lady came from behind and asked if he was being helped. When my husband explained what happened to our son's glass and that he would need these repaired as soon as possible, the young lady made an unprofessional comment stating that if my husband had slapped our son and if that's why his glasses broke....REALLY!!!! This is unacceptable and I hope that your employees are better trained on professional communication with their customers. I have been trying for a few years to make Visionworks in Hendersonville work, simply because of the fact that I started seeing Dr. Proffitt almost twenty years ago at another branch. However, the customer service is horrible. It recently took over 30 minutes just to pay for contacts at the front desk. There was also a time when my contact order was lost because they put someone else's name on the boxes. I kept being told that they hadn't arrived, even though they were sitting in a drawer. To take the cake, they charged my card twice ($250) recently and were supposed to refund the accidental charge. It has been twelve days and the money hasn't shown up. No one there knows why, so I'm waiting on a phone call from a supervisor. I shouldn't have to work this hard to give them my business. read more

This is not so much a complaint about the Indian Lake Visionworks and Rivergate Mall offices,but more of a complaint about the company Visionworks in general. The staff at the Indian Lake office were helpful,unlike the Rivrrgatr Mall staff,but I think they ( Indian Lake ) were being jerked around by the company,as much as I was. My warning to others,is to steer clear of Visionworks at all cost. Over a year ago,I purchased glasses from the Rivergate Mall store. They " convinced " me to have the more expensive Polycarbonate lens. From day one,I couldn't wear them. Way to Too technical to explain here. After trying them off and on for several months,I finally gave up during a illness,and put them aside. 5-6 weeks ago,I stopped in at the Indian Lake store,and after a few minutes,the male staff member,discovered what I was complaining about. After a meeting with his manager,she agreed at no cost to me,to remake the glasses in another type of lens. That was 5-6 weeks ago. I have driven from Gallatin 5 times,to try and get the promised glasses. 5-6 times I have been told they " Aren't here yet " 5-6 weeks of feeble excuses !! I told them Saturday,to cancel the order,as I am convinced the glasses will never be made. The end result is...... I am out around $150 - I have a pair of useless glasses - I have been jerked around,especially in the last 5-6 weeks. So, I'm off to Walmart in Gallatin. Where I know I can get professionally trained staff,to make the glasses for me,in less than a week. I have no idea where the " Screwup " is with Visionworks - Now known as " Vision-Jerks " by me. Either it's the basement 3rd world garage where the glasses are made,or total lack of management and team work at all levels within the company here in the USA. I'm a Senior,and $150 is a chunk of cash to me. I'm screwed,but I will get over it. I hope the company goes broke.as they are a disgrace,and totally unprofessional. I took my FOUR year old daughter to get her first pair of glasses. For those of you with small children, you know the attention span clock starts ticking before you exit the car. We had Rx in hand from Vanderbilt and for 20 minutes no one said anything to us. I had the worst experience yesterday! Customer service is not a priority at the Hendersonville, TN store! The Dr. was great. The other staff was terrible. First the lady who did the first tests did not listen at all. She marked down a bunch of medical issues I don't have! I told her at least 3 times I did not have diabetes but when the Dr. came in the first thing he said was "You are here for your diabetes check up?" OMG! So we had to go over the entire sheet again. Then when trying to buy glasses the girl that was helping me was new, I am assuming,because she was totally lost and the other lady that was there working just yelled over to her what to do, instead of GETTING UP and coming to help! I actually had to ask her to please come over and help. Finally I told them to just give me my prescription and I will go somewhere else. After an hour and 45 mins I left there with no glasses and a headache! What an unorganized office. I actually don't trust my exam. I really don't know if it was done correctly. But my insurance won't cover another one until next year. I will never recommend that place to anyone! read more

I agree with the positive reviews of Dr. Jenkins, who works Sunday, Monday, and Thursday. Plan accordingly! The other male doctor, who is usually there but was on vacation, is also excellent, I'm told. It took two visits to get my new contacts (for astigmatism) right because that sort of thing can be complicated, but in total, the whole process took less than an hour. I didn't have the problem with wait times others mentioned--there were two others ahead of me and they still got me in within 15 minutes. And their prices are MUCH better than other locations. You can usually find a coupon on their website for glasses. I will be visiting this location from now on...and sending my friends and family members there. One tip? Try not to visit on busy weekends. If you can, squeeze in there on a weekday, as you would any traditional eye doctor's office, and you'll likely find you don't have the problems others have mentioned when they chose the convenience of being able to visit during the times other offices would be closed. read more
