Customer service is top tier, everyone is knowledgeable and super helpful. It was first time getting reading glasses . However i feel with insurance i spent way too much. It's pretty pricey here. So people do your research before selecting an eyewear company. I got suckered into paying way over $600 for some basic reading glasses and that's with really good insurance. I only had my glasses FOR four months however I did not get the warranty, that was a grave mistake. The coating on my lenses' started peel and hair line cracks appeared and there is no factory warranty in place, DO NOT BUY HERE RUN! RUN! TO A BETTER PLACE or just get the warranty. read more

Worst worst worst experience! I did not feel comfortable getting permanent glasses when I know the prescription is incorrect so I called to cancel the order after I got home and found my old prescription. They weren't supposed to close for about 15 or so minutes, but no one ever answered. When I called back the next day, the woman who answered the phone gave me an attitude the entire time. She finally said she "refunded" the transaction after interrogating me for 10 minutes why I wanted to cancel the order. Two hours later, I received a text from the store saying my order was received and they were making the glasses. I immediately call back and asked her why she didn't cancel the order. She said she did, but couldn't explain why I received a text saying she sent it in after it was canceled (I find out later why she was acting shady about it). Almost a week later, the money for the frames and lenses (I have never had to pay over my benefit amount... just insane that they charge so much more- glasses and lenses came out to almost $600) was refunded back to my credit card. Three weeks later, I go online to order contacts. I thought that would give the system ample time for the use of the insurance benefits to return from not buying the glasses. The system still said I used all of my benefits for the year. So the person who "refunded the frames" ended up pushing the order through when we got off the phone to keep my insurance benefits. Super shady business practices. That is on top of the sad selection of frames they had. Very limited color selection and it seemed like all of the rejected frame shapes end up there. You find much better selections online- colors, shapes styles... If you want to feel comfortable using your insurance benefits without getting ripped off, don't go into a store- call the customer service number. You live and you learn. read more

Don't bother coming without your prescription on you. I walked in at 5:40 pm today wanting to browse the frame selection. A blonde female employee immediately called out from afar and asked if I had a prescription with me. I said no. She said if you don't have the prescription you can't shop. I asked, could I just look around? She said yes as long as I don't touch anything because then she'd have to sanitize. I recognize I came in close to closing but was shocked how unwelcoming the staff was. I had only intended to do a quick walkthrough to see if they had what I was looking for which would take at most 2 minutes. As I was leaving, she asked if I saw anything. I said no. Even if I had seen something, I would not even consider buying it here and supporting this kind of business. Thinking through this, she didn't want to have to exert any effort into someone who she deemed was not going to buy same day. In response, I think the employee or store policies (if this was a store policy) should consider that: 1. Just because I don't have a prescription on me doesn't mean I'm not going to buy. A pair of glasses is a very personal item and the store I would buy from would be gracious in letting me figure out my own style especially for my first pair. It becomes part of your identity as the first thing people see on your face. It may take a few visits for me to commit. 2. There are people who buy fashion frames with no prescription. 3. I was buying a pair for the blue light filter, and do not require a prescription. This is why I didn't carry it on me. 4. Being dismissed and banned from touching any glasses guarantees that I will not patronize the store again and will discourage my friends and family from going. read more

Very surprised by VisionWorks today. Not helpful at all! If I could give them No Stars, I would. My Husband broke his frames and they stated they could not do anything without a new prescription because his prescription was over 2 years old. I wanted to buy new frames and they would have to make new glass to put in them until we could get into his ophthalmologist for a new Prescription. They then tell me about a law that says you cannot have new glasses made with a prescription that is over 2 years old. What??? \? We were there in 2022 so the prescription must be just over 2 years old. Yes, he does need to have his eyes checked, but we needed something temporary and we are willing to pay for it, realizing this is more expensive and we may be paying double if his prescription has changed. No help at all from VisionWorks. In this instance a law like this shouldn't apply. My husband is on a rollator and no longer drives. He uses his glasses to watch TV only. The girl at the front desk refused to help in any way. I talked to the manager and he did not even offer to try and glue the glass in the frames as a temporary fix. We have dealt with the VisionWorks on Yale in Houston for a number of years. We will not be back. Maybe this is a ploy by VisionWorks to make you see the optometrist next door because that is the only one you can get into on short notice. We go to ophthalmologists, not optometrists. On another note, what do people do that do not have $700 to spend on new glasses, even when they are on sale? It will now take at least 4 weeks to see my husband's ophthalmologist for a new prescription, and maybe his prescription will not have changed much at all in the last 2 years. Couldn't VisionWorks have helped with a temporary measure? No offer of help at all. :-( How about offering to glue the glass in the frames, just as a temporary measure? Time to find a company that cares about customers and their problems. The Yale location does not care. And I suspect their other locations will be the same. read more

To whoever the lady was that pickup the phone on 08/18/2022 between 4:15 pm and 4:20 pm needs to redo her customer service training. Simply asking for the status on my glasses firs thing she said "have you received a text message" said no then she said they're not. Like this order was place on July 31st its been almost 17 days since this order has been placed so yes my order is delayed so as a customer who was advised on August 10 then changed to august 14 I would want to know where my glasses are at. Yesterday, my mom and I visited this place for the first time and it was the best experience. Melissa was the only person who greeted us with a huge smile explained to us that her system was down, but for us to look around and check in with her to see if the insurance system was back up. As we had identified the frames we needed, she did let us know that the system was backup and she would be able to assist us further. As my mother was providing her eye prescription paperwork, Melissa went off and explained every detail related to the type of lenses needed and shared examples and we left buying a set of glasses and also using my moms old frames to be placed with the appropriate lenses she needs. I give more than 100% best customer service and hope that Melissa is recognized by her upper management as she is a true example of having patience, knows her stuff, and makes you feel successful. Unfriendly. They act put-out if I come in for an adjustment. The only reason they got my business is because VSP forced me to. And you are stuck with whatever tiny selection of frames they have in the store because they won't order any other frames--even a different color of what they have in stock. Glasses are expensive. Immediately upon stepping into the store, Alex leaped up from his desk to assist me. I needed adjustments for my frames because it kept sliding off of my face, and I had visited two other stores who would not adjust them! Liability or some bull shit! Lol, no, but I get it. I think he was a noob, because he had asked his supervisor to help, who was also incredibly friendly, and in less than 2 minutes, my frames were complete! My goodness, I feel like a completely new woman!! I literally saw the world differently... There were terrible reviews, so I was skeptical, but hiccups happen. I had my new prescription and an old pair of Visionworks glasses with me when I went to the Yale Street store. I ordered new lenses (non-glare, progressive, and transitions) for a little over $300. It seemed pricey but I had been pleased with my experience and the quality of the product I purchased at another store two years ago. The new glasses were promised in 10 days or less. A little over a week later I received a call that my glasses would be delayed because someone had cracked a lens when they tried to put it into the frame. Another week and a half passed and I received another call that they were ready. I picked them up and brought them home (I was wearing my contacts at the time) only to notice when I put them on later that both lenses had several horizontal wavy lines across them. I returned the glasses and was told that the machine that makes them had put "too much pressure" on the lenses and they would have to be redone. Fast forward another week and a half and my glasses were ready for the third time, and they were fine. On the plus side, the staff was unfailingly courteous. On the minus side, they were not terribly concerned. I thought they might offer me a price reduction or even a percent/discount coupon for a future purchase to get me to come back, but no. All in all I think I'll take my business elsewhere next year. read more

It's rare that I leave a bad review. The only reason for 2 stars and not 1 is due to the location. However my experience here hasn't been pleasant. I went next door for my annual eye appointment. The doctor was friendly and very accommodating to me and my budget. Even with insurance, most folks know that anything with optometry is going to be pricey. When I went to Visionworks, located next door, I was greeted kindly and immediately by a female sales associate. I gave her my script and she told me they were running a special where you can get two pairs of glasses for half price. What she did not mention is this did not include the cost of lenses, which were full price. Had I known that, I wouldn't have bothered to look. I find a pair of glasses I liked, thinking I'd only spend about $50 to $100 bucks, she tells me it would be $150 and that doesn't include the price of contacts, which she tried to get me to purchase the year plan because of the rebate, which would have made my total price over $500. Maybe some can afford that, but it wasn't within my budget. I took the cheap option, which made the sales associate quite annoyed as she was no longer the friendly welcoming person upon my visit and instead an annoyed one that didn't fall for her sale gimmick. Fast forward to today when I go to pick up my contacts. Only 2 people working, with one assisting 2 customers at once and the other trying to sell another soul the same sales gimmick. I left after 5 minutes after seeing I was going to be waiting awhile. Once I pick up my contacts, I won't be returning here and everyone else should be aware of their sales gimmicks. read more

The employees that I spoke to about the "promotions" gave different prices. When asked to explain the prices, they conferred in the back room, then first pulled out a sheet of prices that had nothing to with the existing promotion (as an example). Then the numbers added up to a new higher price. Then they found the "correct" price sheet where the prices were even higher than the first two quotes. After this fourth iteration of numbers, I was done. It seemed like they just come up with whatever numbers they feel like at the time. Either very shady or incompetent. read more
