I have had my new glasses for aprox 3 months now. a little back story here. i have been a long standing customer for a few years now. when I went in to pick up my glasses I was being helped by a kind young lady. no complaints there. but another employee who I discovered is the manager. was so incredibly rude to me when I attempted to speak with her about somthing as simple as the weather! three times I spoke to her she turned her back to me and pretended not to hear me. I was a little shocked that a manager could be so rude. I asked the person who was helping me is she was always like that. she reluctantly told me she was very hard to work for and and apologized for her managers blatant behavio. I couldn't help feeling sorry the person helping me. well, my glasses have been pooping out a lens and there is either a chip or they the glass is separating. so I decided to pop in. the manager was so incredibly rude to me. she has no business helping customers, let alone managing other people. i will never step foot in that store again until she is removed. I have filed a complaint and waiting to hear back. this woman is pure evil. I recommend taking your business elsewhere! read more

Was sold frames that are too big given my strong prescription. Lady talked me into them. They are super thick and heavy. I've gone back complaining about them and they adjust them and tell me to try them one more time. I've bought glasses dozens of times and have never had a problem read more

I can only talk about my visit to this place. Maybe others have had a better experience. My sister and I made a point to come here on the recommendation of a neighbor. The one person working (one was eating lunch in the back), was helping someone else when we arrived. I had my prescription; we quickly found the glasses I wanted and waited for some help. She slowly, finally acknowledged us, but it seemed as though we were bothering her, and she spent an inordinate amount of time on the computer as we sat there in front of her. She finally got up and went to another part of the store and began either having a phone or computer conversation and totally, thoroughly ignored us, after having spoken only a few words to begin with. After a full half hour+of sitting with no help, we got up and walked out. There was NO ONE ELSE in the store. She clearly did not feel like helping us; never cracked smile, said hello, or asked how she could help us. Terrible attitude; it occurred to me why there were no customers in the store. Whoever is manning the front desk at 10:15am, 7/26/2024 has some sort of personality disorder or other psychological problem. What will happen is if you try to clarify what you are calling about, which she is only superficially prepared to respond to, is she will start arguing her case for giving you the answer on the topic SHE wants to discuss, not the topic you want to discuss. It's very odd. Clearly management has an extremely low bar when it comes to hiring, training, and surveying the competence of staff and customer service in general. Also there is no doctor on staff (the doc quit - probably for excellent reasons) yet visionworks still has the doc listed on their website. Bait and switch. Run. Don't go franchises for you eye healthcare, or any healthcare for that matter. read more

You'd be better off going to Walmart to get cheap glasses than pay $200 for crap and have to keep taking them back. Very expensive, more than double than Costco for a comparable pair of glasses. Definitely price check around before buying from here! I wish I would have done that first. They broke two different pairs trying to adjust them for a better fit. Finally decided to just return them and get a refund. I was told it could take up to three weeks for a check. More than five weeks later and still no check, and no answers as to what happened to my refund. read more

I began with a nearby discount competitor where I had been mis-prescribed corrective lenses. Suspecting this to be the case, I went into Visionworks in Valley River Mall for a second opinion late one Sunday afternoon. The difference in professionalism, selection, competence and honesty was amazing. Not only did the store manager advise me well re having a local optometrist check me (b/c prescription was complex), but she spent extra time with me to be certain I chose the right frames for me. When my first pair of glasses arrived, they made an ENORMOUS difference in my vision--remarkably improved. Unfortunately the second pair of was incorrectly transmitted to the manufacturer (a new employee) resulting in wrong lenses. When I came in to pick them up and noted the apparent problem in the second pair, she (store manager) rechecked the lenses, and immediately took responsibility for the mistake, and set about ordering a corrected pair. The way this was handled was spot-on. Stepping forward, taking ownership and immediate action was most encouraging. I'm currently awaiting my second pair (for reading) and anticipate they will be great as well. So glad I stopped in. I'll use Visionworks (specially this one) for all of my future optical needs. LIARS!! Went to this store, told them I got glasses a few months ago an could I get another an to look for me. Of course they said yes with their sales pitch, threw some numbers at me an gave me an amount that I need to pay. Here it is October, I get a bill for $60 more than the $130 I already paid. Called them an was told I need to call my insurance even though my insurance said they will pay zero! So why should I call them??!! Idiots! Dont go here, they lie, an charge you more than agreed upon!!! read more

Nicole and Mercedes were wonderful to work with! I've worn glasses for over 40 years and I know what works for me with regards to frames and lenses, cutting down a lot of time and frustration others seem to have spent at this store. I went in on Saturday afternoon and was out the door in about 90 minutes which included the eye exam, picking out (6) pairs of frames (with my prescription, ya gotta love a good sale!) and all the lens options, etc. Will definitely be back in a year or two. So my daughter had been needing glasses from the beginning of the year but due to the pandemic we have been put on hold. So now I start receiving Vision Works emails again so I call to see if in fact their store is open. I was told on the phone that, yes, they are open for business and to come on in! So after we drive 2.5 hours (we live in Coquille and Eugene is the closest store) we are stopped at their door and asked if we have an appointment. I said 'no, we already have her prescription and just need frames'. The young man proceeds to tell me that I must have an appointment just to enter the store. NO WHERE on their website does it state that nor was it mentioned when I called. He kept saying how sorry he was but it was store policy...I told him if he were truly sorry he would find a way to help us so our 5 hour drive was for not. I get the whole Covid thing but he could have figured a way to get us in. HE DID NOTHING!!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! We ended up getting an amazing pair of glasses at Lens Crafters, also in the mall. The woman there stated we were the 4th customer that day to come in with the same complaint about Vision Works!!!! Mercedes at Visionworks is always so helpful for me, when it comes to my eye glass needs. I have bought glasses from her over the years. And she has never disappointed me in any way. Always on point with her customer service, I would never go any where else. She is fast, and reliable, and I know personally , if she can save you any money, she will. They recently moved their location in the mall, so you do need to look, but they are still doi5 a great job! read more

I had wonderful service from the front part but when I needed help from the receptionist in the back part where the eye doctor is... the receptionist was extremely extremely rude. I recommend ordering glasses from the front but never again from the receptionist area of the doctor office. read more

The two receptionists/assistants for the Doctor of Optometry located within this VisionWorks location were abysmal: extremely rude and unwilling to make any effort to assist us in making an appointment for an eye exam (we were told we could come back at 4 today for the first appointment and then suddenly told 5 minutes later that that slot had now been taken...!!!). As a result, none of the three of us will do our eye exam here, nor will we subsequently buy our prescription lenses and frames here (as we have done in the past, when the staff there were more professional and friendly). Recommendation based on our personal experience? Avoid at all costs! read more

Like most mall-based healthcare, the 'health' is secondary to their profit-margin. You will be continuously pressured to spend more money than you need to. Upsell on glasses, frames, eye scans...you name it...they are shameless. My eyes are near-perfect but that didn't stop them from offering services that I didn't need in case any of my 'friends' may be interested. When I called to get the eye scan results 2 weeks later, the snarky admin told me in a mocking tone that it was a test that the Doctor reads. I told her I was well aware of that but I would like the results. Apparently the Dr. tells you the day of the test if there's an issue. Otherwise...no issue. News to me. This place is awful and the experience was made way more awkward than it needed to be. Will not be going back or telling my 'friends'. read more

Receptionist by the name of Karen treated me as if I was her child on the phone. She was contradictory to everything I asked or said. Would not let me ever finish a sentence, she kept interrupting me and cutting me off as soon as she thought she knew what I was going to say or ask. Then when I asked to schedule a eye exam for only contact lenses (so I could just get off the phone with that horrendous female) she said "no we can not do that, you have to get the exam for eye glass lenses and prescription contacts", I explained nicely to her I could not afford it and only wanted to pay out of pocket for a contact lens exam. She then proceeded to say verbatim "I don't think you understand, you have to get both because it's been a whole year since your last eye exam." No other optometrist in town would force me to have to get both exams if I did not want it. I can not believe the lack of professionalism by her. Safe to say I will be taking my business else where. I have used Visionworks for a couple years and have been very happy with my experience. However, this year I will not be using the Eugene Visionworks and I will recommend that you take your business elsewhere in Eugene. There was a very simple and easily remedied miscommunication between my insurance, Visionworks and me. A single phone call or email would have straightened the situation out, however, after a year of silence an, (assuming new) receptionist Karen called with a very rude and patronizing demeanor letting me know that she is reporting me for a missed payment and insurance fraud. There are innumerable ways a company could respond to a missed payment but Karen seemed to take pleasure in wielding her power of ultimatums. I have great credit if I owe money I'm happy to pay it. It's four days before Christmas, to get a threatening, accusatory phone call at work demanding payment this second or she will report me today is a really unfortunate customer service strategy. I called my insurance, and paid the amount owed. I don't know if this behavior is endorsed by Visionworks, but just bypass the trouble of going here. It seems, from the other reviews that this is consistent to this particular receptionists' treatment of customers. Enjoy your holidays by not going here. read more

Vision works allowed me to walk in, get my eyes checked ($140), pick out frames ($70-130), and order what I needed all in about an hour. Even though they seemed pretty busy, I was taken care of immediately by their super friendly staff and never felt like I was a bother. Alex helped me decide what was best for my budget and never tried to up-sell me, which I really appreciated. The best part? Frames were buy one get one free. I ended up spending about $470 on everything including the eye exam. read more
