Make sure you look for the cheaper priced candy by the cafe. Some of the regular priced stuff is pricey - like a $7.95 for a relatively small bag of orange flavored assorted beans. Cafe food was good - kids chicken strips and a delicious Asian chicken salad. Prices were not cheap but ok for the quality of food. The short train ride across the parking lot from the factory to the museum is sufficient for the young and young at heart. Museum is more geared to adults covering the history of the companies and candy production equipment.

PRO TIP: We paid way more for jelly beans at the gift store on our way out than we should have. There's a factory store near the cafe which will save you a lot of money if you're not too picky about flavor combinations. The trails are nice medium length distances for our kiddos. We walked alongside the American River, skipped rocks and stopped for a quick snack (we brought). All the staff were welcoming and friendly. I bought a few small items, but the best thing were the wine bottle shippers that came in handy when packing for home. Every bottle survived. It's worth it to stop in if you're visiting the area, especially your first time.

I also learned that Stockton has a whole world that I never knew existed. For instance.... --Being a bike lover, the Amgen Tour goes right through Stockton (Woot-woot) --There are a ton of events happening every month. In fact, the "Beerfest" is just around the corner on August 10, 2019. --Stockton have an amazing Museum as well as a kids museum. --There is the Bob Hope Theater (I still have yet to see so it's on my calendar) --Port of Stockton is nice with some very cool sailboats. The Stockton Arena is also a must see. --The Banner Island Ballpark I think is pretty cool. --The University of the Pacific which I've ridden my bike there and it's like cycling through an Ivy League college. This is also a cool place to walk your dogs especially during the weekend because of tons of plush, green grass. --Stockton also has tons of great parks and I've cycled through Oakgrove which was very nice (minus geese poop) LOL --Stockton also has a few local wineries as well as its neighboring City of Lodi. --My favorite probably Lincoln Center as I like to eat and buy food. There is even a nice outdoor plush seating area with umbrella shade. Very trendy. Did you know Stockton has "Nothin Bundt" too and Peet's coffee is right across the street? Oh before I forget.... I attended their annual "StockMarket" event and had a blast. I met emerging local artists, bought some one of a kind arts, and I got a chance to listen to some cool music from local bands. In fact, I even rode my bike there many thanks to the San Joaquin Bike Coalition volunteers, who provided the "Family Fun Ride Day." We had more than 40 riders that day. Lastly, I bought a cool "VisitStockton" T-shirt and I was told that United Airlines will be flying into Stockton Airport soon. United would provide flights from Stockton direct to LAX and Phoenix. Currently, Allegiant Airlines is the only commercial carrier flying out of Stockton to Las Vegas or San Diego. There are however, private jets and smaller planes you can RSVP. So the next time you drive through Stockton, checkout "VisitStockton.org" first and discover the many cool places to go. Oh did I mention that Stockton has a Mercedes Benz dealer? It's located in the Trinity Plaza right off Eight Mile Road. Cheers!

An older white male employee immediately turned around and began watching the security cameras. We were the only customers in the store, yet he did not ask if we need any help or assistance. As a black customer, the situation felt unsettling. We came in with no bags and were simply browsing, but the atmosphere made us feel unwelcome and watched. When we decided to leave, the employee still did not acknowledge us or say anything. The entire interaction felt odd and uninviting, and we left feeling as though we were not wanted there because of our race. I hope management addresses customer service and ensures that all guests are treated with respect and courtesy.

We also paid $4 each to do the ice cream making at 11:00 a.m. My only real complaint about the whole thing is that the kids weren't able to see what ingredients were in their can before they started the shaking process. The staff led them through all these different shaking exercises, and then they got to open their cans at the end and see some ice cream. But it really didn't mean anything to them because they had no idea what was in there in the beginning! I said something about it to the staff, just asking them why they didn't have the kids look in it at the beginning, and they said it's because they usually do field trips with hundreds of kids..... But our tour was just around 10 people! If I could do it all over, I would have had my kids unscrew the lids to see what was inside. But besides that little pet peeve, I appreciated the staff giving information and a little tour of the exhibits, and the movie is also included at the beginning of the event.

Everything from souvenirs, to snacks, wines, jams, Peet's coffee, they have a small café, and of course, cheese, cheese, and even more cheese. They do offer tours, but they are limited. However, you can ask somebody from the register, to come over and turn on the "Moo-vie." hosted by a cartoon cow, it covers the cheese, making process from farm, forward. Yes, it's a little "cheesy", (pun intended) but it's cute, and it's interesting. There are pictures throughout the visitor center, and they also have a small area upstairs, that also talks about the cheese making process, and you can look down into the factory. As I mentioned, there are lots of cheeses for sale. They also have samples. They have "squeakers" which is what they call their cheese, curds, many different varieties of their cheeses, and other gourmet cheeses from other companies. I bought a small apple, walnut, smoked cheddar, which was very flavorful, and then I also decided to take a gamble, and got a 1 pound block of Hilmar habanero pepper jack cheese. The 1 pound block of cheese cost under seven bucks. Extremely reasonable for such a good quality cheese. Yes, it definitely packs a punch, (hey, it's habanero....) but the creaminess of the cheese helps, mellow out the habanero a bit. You can also cook with it, like a cheeseburger, or scrambled eggs, etc.... And that also helps mellow out the habanero. it is definitely toward the higher end of what I like for in spicy, but it is definitely good. At the café, they actually sell a cheese chowder, which is supposed to be excellent. I don't think my poor system could've handled it, so instead, I got one of their grilled cheese sandwiches, the zesty tomato, which was Monterey Jack, sun-dried, tomato, tomato, basil pesto, on sourdough bread. Yes, still rich, but the tomato help helped cut the richness. The only reason I'm taking off a half star, was because the bread was a bit overdone on the sandwich. Not enough that I had them redo it, but I could definitely taste it a little bit. The amazing taste of the sandwich. Helped take away the overdone taste of the bread. We hiked it so fast and the views were spectacular. I can't wait to hike this in the spring with all the flowers in bloom. There are so many surrounding trails and I want to do them all! Inside is lots of information, a Rangers' Station, and several informative and/or interactive displays. And there is camping in Mt Diablo too! There are Visitor Guides of different towns of California. Go by districts, so as example, Bay Area, Monterey area, San Joaquin County, Southern California. One time two of them telling me stories of the Women Prison at the museum at Historic Court House. It is actually outside the Court House, if one looks, there was small area for the bed, the sink, and the toilet. Very first time I ever visited Auburn, asked of Forgotten Soldier Program Park. Wow, it is walkable of this Auburn Visitor Center. Now this to me strange. There also Placer County Visitor Center. I am fourth person for that. What is strange it is exact address, same directions, same telephone number.
