The factory workers would wave up us as we watched the make jelly belly's and assorted candies. They had lots of activities along the way to keep little ones involved. On the day we went the plant was partially running. But we plan to go back when the are fully running. The gift shop is amazing. They also pizza, hamburgers and such. Along with custom chocolates. The factory is not operational on weekends, so…read moreeverything is covered up and your main source of guidance would be the videos they play at tour checkpoints. Adults are $8, children are $4, and everyone gets a paper factory hat you wear, and a small package of jelly beans for after the tour. There weren't many people present around the 2PM timeframe, I saw more people coming in at 3PM when I was heading out. I won't go into too much detail on the tour, but it's pretty fun and should be much more exciting on a weekday. It's filled with fun facts and there are some interactive activities and photo-ops, topped off with fun facts and trivia. There is also a museum you can visit by a 5 min walk or a tram ride. It's filled with old factory parts and the history of the company. I also enjoyed the jelly bean art present both at the factory tour and the museum. All in all, we spent about 1.5hours here, and is easily extendable to 2+ hours with kids or if you're into history. The jelly bean factory shop has some items on deep discounts and are a lot cheaper than in-store ones at 3rd parties. I would definitely stock up here until your next visit. There are also gift boxes to bring to family and friends both in country and to countries where jelly beans aren't sold or are more expensive. Either way, if you're a fan of jelly beans, then you best believe this is your best bet for the best deals and arguably best selection...it is the factory after all!

Just like the Visitor Center they have in Old Town Sacramento, this Visitor Center very helpful! Now with Mister Corona Virus, open eleven am to four pm, most companies usually open nine am but she say they as now have to reduce the hours! Very helpful! They will ask the Guest where they visiting from! If California, they not put the town, just mark as California! If from different state, they will write down name of the state! All kinds brochures, maps, pamphlets here, even brochures of different down town hotels! The people at this of Visitor Center always so very knowledgeable! One time they even answer where nearest Starbucks! Wow, that quite knowledgeable! I see that no one follow me in these comments, how they plan what to see if they not coming to a Visitor Center? Maybe they just ask Guest Services at their hotels! I have did that but many times if I find a Visitor Center, I go in to the Visitor Center that town, that state!

They also have pamphlets and maps, as well as knowledgeable local guides to help you plan your visit. They also had nice restrooms, which were appreciated on a driving trip. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. I bought a few small items, but the best thing were the wine bottle shippers that came in handy when packing for home. Every bottle survived. It's worth it to stop in if you're visiting the area, especially your first time.

The employees at this Auburn Visitor Center and the volunteers at this Visitor Center are very knowledgable not only of Auburn, but also other towns of Placer County. There are Visitor Guides of different towns of California. Go by districts, so as example, Bay Area, Monterey area, San Joaquin County, Southern California. One time two of them telling me stories of the Women Prison at the museum at Historic Court House. It is actually outside the Court House, if one looks, there was small area for the bed, the sink, and the toilet. Very first time I ever visited Auburn, asked of Forgotten Soldier Program Park. Wow, it is walkable of this Auburn Visitor Center. Now this to me strange. There also Placer County Visitor Center. I am fourth person for that. What is strange it is exact address, same directions, same telephone number.

The mine shaft was obviously the highlight, which we were able to go down into without paying for a tour. Very cool with just the right element of spooky as you imagine being a miner at the turn of the century, traveling thousands of feet underground, by candlelight! We also checked out the surrounding buildings which have buttons you press that give you a synopsis of what you're looking at. We popped into the blacksmiths building where a couple blacksmiths were putting on demonstrations of skills required to work this job for the miners. There was also a quaint gift shop in the museum section where we got our kiddo a vile of gold as a fun little souvenir.
