Colonial Care is the best home care agency I have ever worked with in my career as a social worker…read more Their staff and administration are extremely responsive and professional. One of my clients is bed ridden with Glioblastoma. Through their careful vetting, Colonial Care found the perfect caregiver (Maria)! She has proven to be an empathetic and sensitive health care provider who anticipates the needs of her patient far in advance. She is not only a caregiver, but shows how much she loves her job and my client every day, as she shows up with a smile and uses humor and love to help in the most difficult circumstances.. She respects my client and treats her as a person, not just a patient. I highly recommend Coloniial Care to anyone who is searching for an exceptional agency to assist with caring for their loved ones, and would go to them first when the need arises for future clients!

Comfort care was all that was required. Although Joyce was under hospice care, we needed help bathing her until the hospice staff could send bathing assistance. We called Colonial Home Care. They sent the sweetest angel to our home to help. Daisy bathed, changed clothes and bedding so that Joyce would be as comfortable as possible. I couldn't do it myself. Joyce was beginning to sink into unconciousness and could no longer help me move her. Daisy did the job with expertise that alleviated adding stress to my sister-in-law's discomfort. I'm so grateful. In fact, Daisy was such a welcome assistant I asked her to return the following Monday. Before I could schedule the appointment my sister-in-law quickly sunk into death's grip. Within days she was gone. Many thanks to Daisy for her fine work, for bringing such peace and welcome service into our home, and for comforting my sister-in-law Joyce on her journey. What a fine service you give to your client and their grieving family. Best wishes,

We are very thankful to have found Avery home health. Our…read moredaughter was originally approved for shift nursing 12 years ago, the two previous agencies we had worked with were very difficult to deal with. I spent countless hours calling the recruiter and management to check on progress and I never got any answers, occasionally the manager would get on the phone to tell me how difficult it was to find a nurse or LVN to hire... The last agency we worked with actually discharged us after 8 months of my persisting calling, claiming they just couldn't find any candidates. That the reason why I was TRULY AMAZED when we switched to Avery! In a matter of a week, Drew came to meet our family, nurse supervisor Stephanie did the assessment and a week later we had an evening nurse who was wonderful and is now a personal friend. Drew has been very proactive and caring in the past two years, successfully finding potential LVN's to help my daughter and being responsive and professional handling all my messages. What a difference! Being a parent of a severely disabled teenager doesn't really leave a lot of time to spend chasing people down for an answer and babysitting the process. That is why I really appreciate working with Avery and how they really support our family. In fact, I just found out that my good friend is also working with Avery and she is also quite pleased. We had always complained endlessly about the previous agencies and now we find ourselves sharing good reports. Stephanie, the nurse supervisor who we see monthly, is very professional and caring. She is attentive and very detailed in her assessments. We really enjoy her monthly visits. I highly recommend this agency that has been such a blessing in our lives.

Maria gave me a good overview of the services and options they provide over the phone so we scheduled a home visit with my mom. The visit went great, and my mom felt very comfortable with Maria and her staff. The paperwork was easy to process and we were all set. Caregivers were on time and quickly established a good rapport with my mom. They helped with all her essential needs like bathing and meal prep, but they also did other tasks like light cleaning, driving her to physical therapy appointments, and just visiting with her. As my mom recovered over the following weeks, we were able to scale back the caregiver hours to just what was needed until eventually, mom was independent and on her own again. Maria is easy to communicate and coordinate with and provides an excellent service for people like my mom. In the end, they were really a key part of her recovery.

If you are a nurse looking for a place to work, I'm sure Aveanna/Premier is great since they seem…read moreto care less about the families that need their help than they do about keeping nurses on staff. The nurses seem to have free reign to call in, stop coming in, make demands, etc. We had not had issues until this last year. I'm not sure what changed but we also have a new care coordinator on our case every few months. Further evidence that patient care is not important, if Aveanna/formerly Premier cannot staff all of a patients hours, they do not allow you to split hours with other agencies. Essentially, holding hours that they can't fill hostage. If you have 1 nurse you like filling a portion of the hours but can't get coverage for the rest, you are SOL. Since January (5 and a half months), here is what we have experienced trying to find help for my 8 year old son. LVN #1.) LVN calls in often. We wait until they have a replacement and let her go. LVN #2.) Replacement is unqualified for the job. Additionally, comes in for about a week, calls in for 2 days and we advise not to come back LVN #3.) Another new LVN is with us for about 8-10 weeks. Misses 6 days total. One day calls in because she's stressed out that we had to call an ambulance for my son the day before. Has a bad attitude, rolls eyes when asked for help. We decide to tolerate until a replacement can be found. Without notice they move nurse to another case at her request citing that she was a new grad and decided she didn't want to do feeding tube patients after "trying it out". Management tries to placate us by saying she just wanted to "grow her skills" as a new nurse. I don't know about you but even 2 week notice is customary for quitting a job. Instead of giving us notice, they immediately give her another case, leaving us without help again. We request no newly licensed LVNs without experience from here on out and I advise we are not a training family. It's a lot of work for me to teach and I want someone long term. LVN #4.) We interview a nurse making all requirements for my son's care clear including him spending his days rolling around on a gymnastics mat since he can't walk. She tells the agency and is at the interview that this will not be an issue. I again take time off work losing income to train her. I spend an entire day training here. She then calls the agency and says it's too hard on her back and will not be returning. Aveanna/Premier needs to set patient care to be at least as important as keeping nurses on staff rather than prioritizing keeping LVNs on staff at the expense of the families who are depending of them for help. I believe that they prioritize nurses because they see and interact with the nurses during training, interviews and reviews but no one in management or case care who is responsible for staffing for the patient ever actually sees the families in person. Instead, these relationships can be kept at a distance since the only communication that happens is on the phone. It's easy for them not to care as much when they do not see the patient or family as actual people.
