Our daughter was originally approved for shift nursing 12 years ago, the two previous agencies we had worked with were very difficult to deal with. I spent countless hours calling the recruiter and management to check on progress and I never got any answers, occasionally the manager would get on the phone to tell me how difficult it was to find a nurse or LVN to hire... The last agency we worked with actually discharged us after 8 months of my persisting calling, claiming they just couldn't find any candidates. That the reason why I was TRULY AMAZED when we switched to Avery! In a matter of a week, Drew came to meet our family, nurse supervisor Stephanie did the assessment and a week later we had an evening nurse who was wonderful and is now a personal friend. Drew has been very proactive and caring in the past two years, successfully finding potential LVN's to help my daughter and being responsive and professional handling all my messages. What a difference! Being a parent of a severely disabled teenager doesn't really leave a lot of time to spend chasing people down for an answer and babysitting the process. That is why I really appreciate working with Avery and how they really support our family. In fact, I just found out that my good friend is also working with Avery and she is also quite pleased. We had always complained endlessly about the previous agencies and now we find ourselves sharing good reports. Stephanie, the nurse supervisor who we see monthly, is very professional and caring. I've only done a few shifts with this company but can tell you they are one of the best agencies in Orange County. The administration especially Drew who runs this office in Orange is the nicest hardest working guy I know. I highly recommend working here they are for the nurses and patients. They care about staff and their patients it makes a difference at an agency when they care about the employees it makes the job better to go to. we started with avery after having consistency and competency issues with other agencies (brightstar and chelsea). we've found their staff to be caring, proficient, and reliable, and the communication all around to be excellent. it really seems that they try to find a good match for the families and caregivers, and the nurses seem happier in their placements, which is good all around. we know as well as anyone how difficult it is to find and keep consistent nursing. i have had very positive experiences with avery, and my daughter, who is extremely high care needs (ventilator, trach, g-tube, vp shunt, full assist, wheelchair, nonverbal, deaf-blind, lissencephaly, hydrocephalus, seizure disorder, medical diet, infantile spasms, muscular dystrophy, neurodegenerative disease) has been with them since she was about 20 months old. she is thriving and will be four years old in a couple months. i find drew and the rest of the admin staff to be very caring, professional, and compassionate, and find the nurses to be of the same caliber. it really helps take the pressure off the nursing element of my daughter's care so that i can focus on the other elements of being a special-needs mom; doing the regular parenting stuff plus learning educational and medical techniques, navigating the insurance element, advocating regional center and school district services and IEPs, specialty financial planning, keeping our sanity, and fostering my daughter's growth and development as best we can. being a mom is immensely stressful and having the additional pressures of medical fragility, chronic illness, and special-needs is a lot emotionally for any parent, but they have helped our family immensely and we are very grateful for them, and would highly recommend them to anyone needing compassionate home care. read more
