We hired First Light after mother-in-law had neck surgery. There were several issues with the staff provided: 1) One worker was sleeping and mom had to crawl down the hallway to wake the worker 2) A check was stolen from mom's check book and a person attempted to cash it for $400 at a check cashing business in Fullerton. Luckily the check cashing business called mom to verify the check. I reported the theft to Anaheim and Fullerton police. One person charged but don't know how case was settled. 3) Another worker put mom's neck brace on backwards causing pain. 4) One worker was explaining to mom her criminal record. 5) One of the workers was rude when mom ask for help. 6) Over billed for hours not worked (twice) I reported all of these issues to Martha as they occurred but there was no improvements. When you end the "service" you will need to make a few reminder phone calls to get your deposit refunded. If you hire First Light you will need to be present to supervise the workers. Keep all financial documents secured. read more

I was referred by a friend as I was looking for a caregiver for a family member. I needed someone fast and I wasn't sure how to go about doing all of this as it was my first time .I was so stressed and of course all of this happening during the holidays. I work alot and I am not able to take as much time off from work.My friend told me to look Into this place as she had a great experience here.I called and had someone come out that same day around my work schedule. We were able to set up a caregiver to come out and stay at the home which was convenient. My 85 year old mother had a fall. I needed someone there ASAP. I called FirstLight Home Care. I live in Arizona and my girlfriend recommended First Light. I called and talked to Martha. She said they could have someone there THAT DAY at 2:30. They have cared for my mother for the past month 24 hours per day. The ladies that have covered EACH AND EVERY SHIFT ARE WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD!! With Covid-19 in the middle of all of this we were completely at the mercy of their care. My mother not only healed physically but her clarity in her mind is remarkable. I 100% credit the positive, compassionate, kind and LOVING care of the care providers assigned to my mother. Jessica, Maribel and Lilia were the 3 that shared the 8 hour shifts Monday through Friday. HONESTLY, there are no words adequate enough to thank you. Our family is forever humbled by all you have done. The kind ladies that covered the weekend shifts were equally as competent and we thank them too. Dementia is robbing my mother, but the peace in my mother's mind during this time is priceless. The peace in our mind knowing she is happy is even more priceless. I am updating my review from 2015. My senior parents have been receiving care through FirstLight since 2015. We all have to face reality - aging parents. My parents who needed custodial care only are progressively needing more help , especially my father who now has severe dementia. If it wasn't for FirstLight and their caregivers, I don't know what I would've done. They are first and foremost DEPENDABLE, CARING and PROACTIVE with my parents needs. My family and I are extremely grateful for FirstLight HomeCare and the quality care they provide for my grandmother. It's never an easy decision having to decide who will take care of your elderly grandmother, and who to trust. However, the staff met with my family in person to understand our concerns and the needs of my grandmother. Since then FirstLight has continuously provided the most genuine and professional care for her. Every time I visit, I can see that the caregivers take personal interest in my grandmother and how they've actually developed an endearing relationship- which means a lot. This review is for First Light in Orange, CA. My Mom had dementia and it was slowly getting worse. She required in home care starting at about four hours per day and over the last two years we increased hours until in her final few weeks it was 24/7. The staff at the home office was a dream to work with, responsive and available at all hours by phone/text. Several times we called late at night or early in the morning and needed help for a few hours, they always came through. Carla and Monique were incredible providing care to my Mom. Thoughtful, concerned, caring with a soft touch. Incredible how they never got upset when Mom through a tempertatrum or refused to do something, they just figured out a way to to get Mom to do it. In her last few weeks, they were amazing, making sure she was comfortable, getting the right meds, changing her position in bed and addressing all her needs. I am so grateful for everything FirstLight Homecare has provided for me and my grandfather. About 3 months ago my grandfather had a fall in which he was then hospitalized and his doctor recommended he go home with assistance. Me and my family were unfortunately unable to assist due to work obligations so we started searching for homecare agencies. Finding a homecare company that has compassionate and reliable care providers is difficult, thankfully during my search I knew after meeting with Ray that FirstLight was the right fit. Ray made sure to answer any and all of my questions and put a plan of care into place for my grandfather. When my grandfather arrived home Sofia, his caregiver, was there to greet him and made the entire transition smooth. Sofia is amazing, she is always on time and makes sure that grandpa is well fed and looking clean. I can rest easy knowing that my family is in good hands and well taken care of. It helps that Ray and Charles check in periodically to ensure my family's needs are being met and that we are happy with the care. I use first light home care, the employers are required to clock in and out in your home,.. I ve had one home care provider that time after time has not and will not clock in and out at my home. I complain because I am always charged for 1/2 hour overtime. They just tell me they go on the time the employee calls them....I keep telling them she is NOT clocking in at my house. I ve been complaining for a month ..thus last time she had clocked in before coming in but did clock out at my home. I did not appreciate first light response from the beginning. They should of immediately contacted that employee and made sure she was clocking in and out properly.. Now that first light knows this employee was charging me for overtime they still sent me another invoice for 1/2 overtime. Really..... read more

I started to use FirstLight to have them drive and assist my mother to her eye appointment couple of months ago. Since then, I have continued to use them for numerous other doctor appointments because of the staff, in particular Ebony and Martha. My mother is the type that would refuse such service but after the first time Ebony took her to her appt, she was very happy with the service and said how wonderful and sweet Ebony was. As for me, Martha is very friendly, helpful and accommodating when scheduling or re-schdueling my mother's appts. The rate is reasonable and I'm extremely happy with the level of service that they have provided! read more

Our family had to deal with a very hard situation with my mom, and we found that after her fall while going thru the recovery process with her, we realized that we needed help! Called a few companies out there and they all seemed pretty much the same, price, level of care, etc... But after doing some research, they are not all the same! First light is one of the few companies that insure their caregivers to include workers compensation coverage. Running my own business for many years, I know how important that is! When speaking to the office staff, they are so courteous and so accommodating. My mom is a tough lady who doesn't accept help too much, but she loves her caregivers and allows them to help her. My experience with First Light Home Care has been first class! I would recommend this home care agency to all my friends. When my father needed hourly care, I hired this company per a caregivers recommendation. My father's health had been failing; I was worried about him and exhausted. They sent out a representative to admit him and promised they would start services that night from 10P to 10A. The C/G was 25 minutes late (never good and did not even apologize), she seemed attentive enough as I was orienting her to my father's care. Something wasn't right by the look in her eyes and I asked her if she was OK. At first she said nothing, trying to be professional, then blurted out, "Can I be honest with you"...She told me she was sick, maybe the stomach flu. She said she had even told the staffer this and they told her to go anyway. They wanted to staff this case the same night I had requested as I was a new client and they wanted to make a good impression. I reassured her and thanked her for her honesty and told her to go home and take care of herself....I needed my father to get sick like a hole in the head!!! I called the companies on call service, they called me back 30 minutes later (also never good). The woman on the other end was repeatedly apologetic, ...I just kept listening to hear her, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry , this has never happened before". No consolation or accountability of the company she was representing-nothing. So, as a Registered Nurse who has run health care services in the past, one would deduce this is a revenue driven company over quality and patient safety. When problems arise, they just don't know how to deal with them. read more

I will say this about Firstlight. Ray promised me good caring Caregivers. With a good match. I am into sports. They matched me with a Tinkerbell. Tinkerbell wanted to show me his new ballerina dance moves. Then they matched me with this friend of Martha's(office manager) that had NO desire to be a CAREGIVER, He told me he was just doing this till he could find something better. Than Charles started harassing me and being RUDE. Charles is just an ass. I changed my hours to a split shift. Firstlight wanted more $$ per hour. That's a joke. I have found two different agencies that are great and don't charge extra because you split the shift. Also another thing I didn't care for about Firstlight is that they didn't have someone trained for a back up in case if someone called in sick. Like that happen to me my last day with them. Strange how FirstLight knew it was my last day and the Caregiver calls in sick. So I was stuck in bed all day. I would STAY away from this agency. Ray is a very nice guy. Seems like he really cares. But he is NOT aware of everything that goes on. He really should be more hands on. I requested for my invoice over a month ago. What they billed to my insurance company I still haven't received them. RED FLAG!!. Remember you have other choices! read more
