His stay was short because he was over medicated which expedited his death. The only good thing was the aides. Kim was defensive during the first interaction I had with her. She could have covered the rent with the first year discount and her ss, pension and annuity but she would not have had a cent left at the end of the month. One last thing to know. The high cost does not include a meal plan... so she would not have had money for groceries each month. The units all have full kitchens which is nice if you want to maintain that part of your independence however although she lives very independently at 87, she doesn't enjoy cooking anymore. They do give $400 credit each month toward meals in the lovely dining area. I do have friends whose parents and relatives live here. They are very happy and satisfied. The employees do a TON of fun activities for the residents!! I was extremely impressed with everything but the business office. **I might still be waiting for my $2500 deposit to be returned... who knows. I had to call/text/email over and over and over... for weeks at the two month point. I was told it would happen on a certain day and it did not several times. Finally I was told they would overnight it to me. They did not but eventually it was returned via snail mail...

Working for Columbia Cottage was quite an experience. While I am thankful that through them I…read morelearned some of the basic skills I apply today, I don't consider my time there to have been very fufilling. Misinformed, misguided, and unprofessional come to mind when I think back on that facility. Firstly, yes they do pay higher than most entry level PCA positions, but that is because they have no dining staff nor housekeeping, meaning that the "Homemakers" are responsible for fufilling those duties on top of taking care of 45-50 residents, a lot of which truly belong in skilled nursing. Which brings me to my next point - The levels of care are very varied, mostly one extreme to the other. No gait belts, little to no training on the plenty of non-ambulatory lifts and enablers. Medication administration was a mess, as they still use paper MARs and allow anyone to learn to med tech, even though they may not be qualified. Med tech training is very brief and all over the place. Management had their favorites and took measures and used careful wording to ensure any claims of favoritism towards them were dismissed or not able to be proven. Management enabled and supported mistreatment of staff by several coordinators, despite the large amount of times staff expressed their feelings about the mistreatment. They do not provide an open, welcoming, rewarding environment. It's hostile, tense, and anxiety inducing. Lots of bullying and drama as well, but that's almost to be expected at a mostly female employed facility with terrible management who tells staff they're easily replaceable and unimportant. I would not recommend anyone start their career path at a place that is not a true assisted living, but a glorified, polished skilled facility with little to no skills applied or taught. They really do a disservice to the residents by having people unprepared and miserable. There are some staff there who truly love and care for their residents, which is one of their very very few saving graces.

We found the Highlands to be the best choice - and it has been a very successful move. The Memory Care area is beautiful and bright with an outside courtyard and provides appropriate activities and food service for the residents. The management and staff have been excellent in their care and concern as well as supportive for the resident and the family. Any questions or concerns are responded to quickly. I have moved into a Highlands independent living apartment and can walk to Memory Care for visits at anytime.

However I was shocked and angry about what happened to my friend, who lived there eleven years and donated big bucks to their charity fund. They would not let him stay in his own apartment and hire the help he needed. He was forced to move all his things out at a time when his wife had just passed away. Then he was forced to move again to a small room. He was in rehab and told he could not go back to the small room. They made him sit in the dining room when he wanted to go back to his room. This was ASPIRE care. No one would speak to me about his care until I paid for a Power of Attorney, which he allowed me to do. All in all it was a painful disheartening procedure for a grieving man who was also having his own medical issues. I am a paid-up future resident, but neither my husband or I would put ourselves in their care in the future. To quote my husband, "They treated him like a sack of potatoes." His father was treated much better at Fredericks.

To be a part of Paramount is to watch the residents admit and excel in their daily living. A non medical look and feel, it is te most affordable community in the area and beyond and our residents are able to age in place. So as their needs increase we move forward with them, skilled nursing care isn't a move that your loved one will have to make. I am thrilled to be a part of a great work family and enjoy watching our community grow every day! This is a must see community if you're searching for your loved one

But when we toured Paramount Senior Living and met with Starla Press, Director of Admissions and Marketing, we were immediately impressed. Starla spent an enormous amount of time patiently answering our questions and asked many, many questions about our sister and her specific needs. Then she went to the hospital the very next day to meet with our sister and talk with her directly. It was so very clear that Starla was interested in making this work for us and our sister - more than any other community that we met with!! So what makes Paramount Assisted Living so special and superior over other similar communities? It's the people. From Starla - to Olivia Perry, LPN, Resident Care Manager - to Shiryl Stanley in accounting... everyone who works there puts the patient and their family first. When I call to ask a question or discuss my sister's care, they go above and beyond to help. They also know who I am and more importantly, who my sister is and how she is doing. This is a beautiful community and my sister raves about the food!!! She looks forward to all of her meals in the dining room and rates then 5-star. My sister went from a picky, non-eater to actually starting to gain a pound! Thank you, Paramount Senior Living, for taking such good care of my sister and caring about your patients and lovely community.

He was also impressed with his experience with the Board of Realtors. Throughout the years Jerry earned our business when helped us LOWER OUR TAXES on our current home at the time. We weren't selling or even thinking of selling, I met Jerry when we started this process and I was the main contact. This agent is communicative, gave me fast responses, and had a lot of patience! Every time we needed to schedule a showing at a specific time due to work, he accommodated by getting the showings and being available himself...always. We looked at so many homes over 5 months and just couldn't find the right home. My hope and excitement was turning into frustration and doubt. He was always encouraging and confident that the right home would come along. IT DID and we needed to act fast. We had to make an offer the day it hit the market. Jerry got it done, took it off the market, and closed the deal the next day. He helped us navigate the stress and emotions and stress that are part of this process. Having built that home in 1999, it was hard to leave. Jerry's sale price recommendation was right on. That was reinforced by the feedback forms from our Open House the first weekend. I had some ideas about how and when to list. Jerry incorporated them all, paying close attention to our input. Our home sold in 4 days! Just over ask! There are close to 2000 realtors in this county. Jerry is inside THE TOP 2% of agents! He has 20 years experience and we TRUSTED Jerry. We weren't disappointed. He managed the whole process with us, not just the transaction. He always made us feel like we were a priority, as if we were his only clients! I've referred Jerry Buffa already and there is NO QUESTION WHO WILL ALWAYS HAVE OUR BUSINESS. Great service and attentiveness is very hard to come by these days. We had high expectations.... Our experience was nothing less than outstanding!
