We had the same tree guy for years and he moved. Finding a new one who we trusted was a task. We interviewed 4 or so... when Jose came over I knew he was trustworthy. Scheduled for the next business day. Our trees were neglected to say the least. They trimmed 2 king palms, 1 other and cut one down. They worked so hard! This is a follow up to a previous rating posted May 6, 2025. After contact from Vista Del Rey and much consideration, I tried them again. This time the service was much better. Working with the foreman, my wife and I toured the property while he took detailed notes. Today the Vista Del Rey crew arrived on time. The foreman delivered seasoned oak firewood to replace wood that had been missing from prior service. He went back over the work list to be sure everything was accurate. His crew of five men worked from 8am to 5pm, often checking to be sure they were following the work order. In the end they did everything we asked, and at a reasonable price. We ended up tipping the crew for the excellent work. We intend to work with Vista Del Rey again. read more

Joe and his team are awesome! This is the second time I have had them here at the house to trim palms. They also removed a sick tree and trimmed another. The palms look amazing as pictured. Our neighbors recently had theirs trimmed as well by another company and ours look soon much better. The trees they trimmed ended up looking like huge bonsai trees the way they decided which branches to trim. They crew was incredibly kind, and did an amazing job cleaning up all debris! Overall their pricing is incredible compared to other local companies and I have already referred them to several neighbors who have been ghosted by other tree care companies. Great experience with Vista Del Rey Tree Service. They came out and gave us a quote, they told us they were able to come out pretty quickly, we got a quote on the spot and then the trees that were going to be cut were sprayed orange. When they came to cut the trees, it was loud (so of course we knew they were there), but once they were done, things were done so quickly that you didn't even know they were done. They swept everything up, properly disposed of the leaves and branches, and cleaned up after themselves. Overall, very professional group of people. Everyone was very friendly and these guys love their jobs. We came out to give them some bottled water and they were smiling and grateful for it. Joe came out and provided a clear estimate for work to be done. They provided a copy of the written estimate and proof of license and insurance in advance. The team came out as scheduled about a week later and were right on time, organized, efficient, and professional. The crew were obviously very experienced and worked well together in getting the job done much quicker than expected. They removed 10 fan palms and disposed of everything with their chipper. I made a terrible mistake hiring this company. I don't want to write a novel but in light of the number of 5 star reviews it feels important to provide context. Let's start with - they were 45 minutes late. And when they arrived the person who showed up was not the person I originally dealt with and he asked me what they were supposed to do, even though everything had been documented. I got 3 quotes for this project and they were the only people who provided a written quote which I liked. It made me very nervous that he didn't seem to have been briefed. Once we cleared that up they began work. Like a hurricane and woe to anything in their wake. They demolished plants underneath the trees. They broke our dog gate by tossing it aside and we found a patio table in the ivy two days later. My trees look terrible. I've had them trimmed 3 times since I've lived here and they have never looked so bad. I'm sick about it and there is literally nothing I can do but wait for them to grow back and hope they aren't permanently damaged. I had a large bush in the back yard I wanted to be trimmed to look like a bush. The work order said "trim down to fence level and trim sides back." They trimmed it to fence level. No shaping at all. So I told the guy it looked awful and when I next saw it, it was branches and a couple of oddly place leaves. I don't understand people who are in the business of trees to be so seemingly unconcerned about what they look like. The Chinese elms were to be laced and lower branches trimmed. Maybe they were done properly but it's hard to imagine. This company is licensed but as I realized later that doesn't mean they are arborists- it means they can operate a business. EDITED: When they saw my review they texted me and wanted to speak. Scolded me for not giving them "grace" - I'd love to know where the grace was when they were demolishing my plants, and my things. She said "they can't make everybody happy" - so if you want a business who may or may not make you happy - you've come to the right place. read more

Had ten pepper trees trimmed. My husband and I cannot be happier with the business conducted with this company prior to the job, during the service, and after completing the work. First of all, what I like is the fact that they didn't ask me to take pics of the trees so they wouldn't have to come to the site. The estimator, Jose, was prompt in coming to the house. The quote was prompt and reasonable, as well. Scheduling was very flexible. The crew came in their red shirts and they were punctual and professional. The three or four trimmers performed the work rapidly as their method of trimming was effective amongst themselves. Clara, at the office, was extremely responsive and professional. You keep saying I'm just a tenant. Newsflash, Clara: I don't need to be a property owner to be a member of a community, or to care about my neighbors and neighborhood. You damaged public and private property and caused danger because your lack of proper permitting for the sloppy work you did. Stop trying to deflect from your negligence! In addition, why don't you offer services to put fresh soil where you leave sawdust stumps, so that grass can be regrown? You could charge extra so that you leave the landscape in a condition for new growth! I researched it, and it's not that complicated. Here's another piece of advice you would need to be a part of a community to understand... The recent trend in Oceanside is to turn dead palm trees into Tiki Totem Poles. It is my fault for not researching sooner, but for under $1500 that I would have gladly paid... We could have turned the Palm Tree you massacred and damaged the public property with.. into a piece of Art that I would have donated to the neighborhood and it would have increased the property values! Here's another idea for you... call the number on the bottom of these tiki totems... your son already has chainsaw skills, why don't you have him apprentice for the artist, and then you can charge $3000 for tiki totems instead of just a pile of sawdust for $800! read more
