I recently moved to the area and was in need of a new eye doctor. After reading reviews online and making sure they contracted with my insurance, I made an appointment with Vista Eye Care. I was very impressed with their offices--it was clean, nicely decorated, and had plenty of room in the waiting area (in fact, the whole place is huge). Vista uses better technology than my previous eye doctor. Instead of dilating my pupils, which I hate and it just seems like an outdated practice, I paid something like $40 to use their special machine to photograph my eye. It was actually pretty cool to see pictures of my eye and I got to skip the dilation. The eye doctor I saw was probably only a few years older than me, but she was very knowledgeable and put me at ease. She let me try on different contacts so I could see which one I liked better since I was in between correction sizes. I wasn't intending to purchase contacts through Vista since I normally go through Walmart, but the price was right and they were offering a rebate. Score! read more

Made an appointment for an exam with the goal of getting a prescription for hard contact lenses so I could then shop around for the best price. This was explained up front. An exam costs $363. I was then told that I could not have a prescription unless I purchased from them--$600 plus a "fitting fee." Spoke with a manager who said, that is their policy. I had cataract surgery with Dr. Najera and she is extremely knowledgeable and excellent at what she does. She also seems very kind and compassionate. Loved the eye doctor and staff. I think it's the best eye exam I've ever experienced. The eyeglass purchase side... not so much. When did a pair of glasses become so expensive? My last prescription was filled at Costco and that's where my next one will be. Two pair of progressive glasses (one was sunglasses) with total out of pocket less than $200. Vista wanted $489 out of pocket for one pair. WTH? Plus my Costco frames were Jill Stewart and are still as good as new so I only bought replacement lenses for my main pair. read more

Vista Eye Care and Sunburst Optical by Vista Eye Care are awesome! They have up to date equipment, and wonderful helpful staff. They take the necessary time to do what is needed and explain everything they are doing as they go along. They take the time to answer questions and not leave patients feeling rushed. $980 for glasses that I can't use. I went to Vista eye care because it was the nearest to us that used our insurance. In December of 2022 I went for the initial eye exam, received my first first set of progressives that tinted and blue light protection, all the bells and whistles for $980. I took them home and tried to adjust to them for a couple of weeks, but they made me nauseous wearing them for very long, and distance was blurry. I took them back and they sent them back and had the progressive lens removed. I get them back and they no longer tint, and they are basically the same minus the progressive lens. then they give me another eye test and up my prescription. Ok cool just as long as they work. I go and pick up my new set and they have an after image effect to them. They send then back and change the material. At this point its getting very old as its about a month+ in between each time they "fix" them. This brings me to Friday July 14th 2023 I pick them up and they are worse than before its like a Instagram filter where the middle is kinda clear and the edge all the way around is blurry. I tell the guy that and he tells me try and wear them till Monday(today July 17 2023) and "I'll give you a call at 8am and see how you are doing and go from there because I don't like to just be done with my customers I want to make sure their happy" its 10am, no call and the glasses still don't work. I will not be returning to this Vista Eye Care. Nationwide Vision in front of Walmarts on Nogales highway in Sahuarita got me my glasses in one try. and I didn't have to wast time and wait 7 months for nothing. read more

I went to an appointment today because I have been wanting to have the option for a while to wear contacts. My contacts came in and so I went today for the "lesson" on how to put them in and take them out. I remember (years ago) it seemed a lot easier! Alexis was awesome!!! I would avoid this place like the plague. The first thing the woman who showed me in said "will you be buying glasses today". My exam was perfunctory at best. I now have to go to another provider because I don't believe the scrip is correct. I refused to pay a portion of the bill which was beyond absurd. When they billed me, THEY PUT MY WIFE'S NAME on the bill. She has no connection with this provider. A transparent ploy to get me to pay so as to not compromise my wife's credit. read more

Vista Eye Care is very good. The appointments are organized, on-time, and the staff is efficient. I liked my doctor, the exams were thorough and I decided to go ahead with their surgeon for cataract surgery. I'm pleased and the surgery went well. They also have a large selection of glasses and staff to assist with the selection. I did not buy my glasses there, I prefer Warby Parker in Tucson, but for all other services related to my eyes, I was very happy with Vista. read more

WORST. CUSTOMER. SERVICE. EVER. It took three times as long - and a LOT of frustration - to get my new pair of glasses because mistakes kept being made. 1. My order could not be completed because 'someone forgot to charge the iPad'. Could I come back tomorrow? 2. The next day I waited for 30 minutes -- because NO appointments at Vista! -- Just sit and wait. (Who thought this was a good idea??) Could you come back tomorrow, I was asked. 3. The next day I was told the person I needed 'Isn't in today'. I was given a person who couldn't figure out how to use the iPad to put in the prescription. She asked for help. That person couldn't do it either. I don't even remember who figured it out but someone did. 4. after nearly a month, when I hadn't heard, I called to see if my glasses were ready. SOMEONE FORGOT TO ORDER THEM. I was told they would put a RUSH on them and they'd be ready the following Wed or Thurs. 5. No one called so on Friday I called and No, they were not done. But they'd have the lenscrafter do them and they'd be ready in 30-40 minutes. 6. I came to pick them up and they were THE WRONG FRAMES. 7. If I hadn't paid for half of them up front I would've walked out the door. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. EVER. read more

Very disapointed... I wont wear these glasses. The first pair I ordered was too large for my face. They neglected to place the order ....I finally called after waiting three weeks and they re ordered. When I got home with the glasses, I just didn't like them, They told me to come in and I ordered a 2nd pair. I have Insurance that pays most of the cost but upgraded to transitions costing me an additional $150. When I returned the first pair,,,and found a pair that I liked....was told it would be an additional $150 ! I quickly decided on another pair and these are extremely uncomfortable on my nose. In short, I think their glasses are WAY OVER PRICED. Next time I will go back to Wal Mart! read more

In September 2021, I had cataract surgery and opted to have my astigmatism corrected for an additional $3,000. This was the beginning of a chronic eye problem. I understood the cataract surgery would improve my vision. After my first follow-up appt., the doctor/optometrist determined I had inflammation behind both eyes. I had to continue appointments 3-4 x a week and the doctor kept telling me the sight was getting better. I ended up having to use the eyedrops for 5 months. The optometrist told me that the vision in my right eye was 20/20, but the left still had inflammation. I complained that it felt there was something in my eye, and it was ignored. My husband found something on my eyeball and the doctor said it was a cyst and would go away. Fast forward to December 2021. We were moving to Texas and I was scheduled once again for another appointment. I cancelled because we were moving. When we settled in Texas, I applied for my driver's license, but was unable to pass the vision test. I went to an optometrist and found my right eye that Vista doctor claimed was 20/20 was not! Additionally, my left eye was worse. I bought glasses and finally passed the driver's license vision test. Now I have floaters in my left eye that is going to require additional doctor appointments. I am STILL paying off the $3K they charged to correct my astigmatism, which I still have. read more

They closed for COVID precautions, then they billed me for lenses that I was unable to pick up .. .PLUS LATE FEE .. and as of this date I never got the lenses. .. because it takes months to get an appointment. . .so every month I will get a late fee for lenses I have not received I telephoned for assistance and was met with rude customer service. . .They wont budge. The optometrist seems to be relatively knowledgeable. However the wait for appointment took 30 days, they then somehow incorrectly entered my date of birth and primary phone number. So after 3 weeks I called and asked if my lenses were in. They said they left a message 10 days ago..must have been on the wrong number. An email and/ or text would have been a better option. Then when I picked up they said it would just be a few minutes I said I would be back in 30 mins, I returned in 45 mins and they said they weren't ready...here I am an hour later.Needless to say I will be driving to Tucson next time. I've been a patient at Vista Eye care for several years now and every time i call to schedule, I'm given a date that is months away. If they cannot meet patient demands than maybe they shouldn't take new patients. I will be finding a new optometrist. Which is unfortunate because it has nothing to do with the service the actual doctor provides. read more

I was able to get an appointment within a reasonable time so that's always a plus. I waited until the last minute to get my contacts and it was already time to renew my prescription. I was seen by Tayla Meade, O.D. and she was amazing. They give you a full disclosure about the fees a couple of times to avoid any confusion of fees. She changed my prescription and she recommended another pair of contacts that would suit me better since I was experiencing dryness. Contacts were also less expensive getting them from this location than getting them from 1-800-contacts which I've done many times, I saved more than half of the cost getting the contacts from them than online. read more

Just had my 2nd annual visit at this clinic. Had to change doctors due to my health insurance and was alerted by the staff this was needed. Otherwise, I would have had no coverage. The staff are on top of these nuances that are nearly impossible for me to keep track of. Was seen very quickly. Staff very friendly and professional. Professional, Smart, and Wonderful Customer Service! Word of mouth is amazing. I'll admit that I've never been to an eye care place before, having been blessed with good eyesight all my life. But I decided it was time to get with the program and make sure my eyeballs were staying happy. As soon as I made the decision to go, the universe--and strangers in Safeway and Walmart line--started throwing casual comments about this place in my direction. I kid you not! So I went. I'm a big fan of good customer service and these guys are as good as it gets. I can really tell a good business when everyone in the office is happy about being there, and they show it in the way they treat you. Now I don't know much about eye care but I will tell you that Vista Eye Care does and they are not afraid to share their education about eye health, and particularly and how to care for your eyes for the long haul. Not once did I feel pressured to buy "extras" of anything. These guys I felt were honest, forthright, and had my best interest at heart. So the "eyes" have it for this wonderful business. I had my annual eye exam at 1 pm on 01/13/18. The staff are friendly and nice and so are the doctors, but they only had one dr on site. They had some emergency walkins and I waited 1.5 hrs to see the dr. This exact experience has happened 2 other previous annual eye exams. My sons also go there and again, they always have significant delays even though you have an appt. I can forgive all that because if someone has an eye emergency, of course that takes priority. Here's the one thing I cannot forgive. I only ever have an eye exam that is covered by my insurance. My insurance does not cover having my eyes photographed, which costs an extra $35. Even though I declined, the eye tech said "she had to" photograph my eyes. It was a very uncomfortable exam because the lights are very bright. read more

This is my second time here (here for my wife's appointment), and just like the first time we were greeted cordially and promptly. The office personnel are efficient and quick. We also had just barely sat down when we got called in. The doctors are friendly. I also liked the fact that we never felt rushed as is the norm with any doctor. One star for office staff-the resistance to e-mail my last visit-was insane. Claimed I needed a release. I had a copy of the release that I previously signed. They do have a wonderful eye dr there and 1, yes only 1 good tech. Other than that, the place is horrible. Their techs are rude and unprofessional. They have no idea how to work with children. If you schedule young children together, for some reason they think it is ok for them to take you 4 year old off by herself while you wait with your 2 year old, and then questions how are you going to be with your 2 yr old in the room and 4 year old in the wait room. Ignorant. Then they cancel appts like it is no big deal. I see them do this more often with kids. They will give them the worse appt times, and then start canceling them and push them out as far as they can. Horrible, horrible office. read more

I have been going to Vista eye care for years. I love my eye doctor. The part I don't like is the optical part where you get your glasses and want to warn everyone about. When I started going there I said I just wanted the standard lenses, nothing fancy. I never thought I wasn't getting that until now. I never understand why it was always so expensive, always over $500. It was just as expensive for everyone else around me. They would always tell me, this is the price, this is how much insurance will pay. But that's not intirely true. And I take responsibility for not watching what they were clicking on when on the computer, but I think I should also have been told. They add the best lenses, the more expensive this and that. They never say, this is how much it will be if you say I only want what insurance will pay (when I complained, they said you can say this. But they made it seem like that WAS what I was getting!). And they never say this is how much it will be if I add this and that, they automatically do it without saying it or telling you the extra cost! THIS IS NOT OKAY! They have mostly older patients who just agree to the cost without realizing that it doesn't have to be that much!!! Someone there tried to then tell me well we just put in what the dr "recommends". I'm sure the dr didn't recommend the most expensive lenses or the smudge proof coating I said I didn't want. There's a difference between "recommending" blue light filter lenses (which they added, that I said I did not want) and "needing" them. Sneeky sneeky! There is a difference between "recommending" and "needing". I would NOT recommend getting glasses there and would tell everyone entering if I could!!!! read more

After moving to the area, I was starting to establish myself as a patient with all new doctors. I was referred to Vista Eye Care from a friend. Vista Eye Care is a beautiful, clean office. I was very impressed by the technology. They have the optomap technology, which takes a photo in the back of your eye. I didn't have to be dilated, which is great because I hate being dilated. The doctor, which was Dr. Nogales, was very nice and professional. She even found a freckle in the back of my eye that no one ever told or found before. She said with the use of the optomap, we can monitor my eye yearly and see if there is any change. She answered any question I had. I felt like this was the most thorough eye exam I ever had. The one thing I felt I couldn't give Vista Eye Care five stars was that when I called to make the appointment I gave the receptionist my insurance information. However, when I arrived to my appointment, the receptionist didn't have my insurance info. They were able to look my insurance up and fixed the error. I had to wait a few minutes for the insurance to get sorted out. After that, everything went smoothly. Even picking out my glasses was easy, the optician explained everything and my insurance benefits. I will definitely be returning. read more

Making the appointment was easy and they were able to get me in right away which is very nice when your eye is bothering you. Dr Nogales saw me diagnosed my problem, had new ideas on a couple of chronic issues my eyes have. Both eyes felt better within a day! Vista Eye Care is a great optical practice. I was just there and Dr. Williamson noticed a very small thorn in my left eye. This was my annual exam, I was not going there for a foreign body removal. I knew I had some irritation, he found it in my eyelid scratching my cornea. You will get a very through, not rushed, eye exam at Vista. The opticians selling the lenses/frames are very caring and take the time for you as a customer to fully understand what is going on with your purchase or the lack thereof. You can go back anytime and order glasses or replace lenses which could be under warranty, they will know. The reception there is always welcoming as well. Beautiful place, lots of room. read more

I'm a new patient to Vista Eye Care. Only waited a week for an appointment. Upon arrival I was taken back for my exam within 10 minutes. The staff was very friendly and nice. The Doctor did a great job during my exam and explained everything in detail. I did not get a prescription for contacts because they did inform me there's an extra fee.
