After previously defending Dr. Nguyen's behavior and framing my experience as a "misunderstanding" or personality mismatch, the owner recently contacted me privately through Yelp to let me know that "Dr. Nguyen is no longer with our practice." That message alone speaks volumes to me, especially after the way my concerns were originally dismissed. My original complaint was that I felt laughed at, mocked, dismissed, and disrespected throughout my medical exam while repeatedly expressing discomfort. Instead of addressing those concerns professionally at the time, the response I received focused more on defending the doctor and implying I overreacted. The fact that the office recently reached out to inform me he is no longer there only reinforces that what I experienced was real and not simply imagined or exaggerated. Since then, I found an amazing new eye doctor, My New Eye Doctor with Dr. Christine Snow, O.D. The difference has been night and day. The office is professional, clean, kind, patient, understanding, and respectful. Come to find out, my eyesight is still very good. I wear simple reading glasses that can even be purchased at a regular store. Yet during my appointment at Vista Point, I was made to feel as though my vision was terrible or abnormal for my age. People deserve to feel respected, safe, and taken seriously during a medical appointment. read more

I've only been to one other eye center in my life so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but here's my take. Pros: 1. They're nice. 2. The office is clean. 3. Their bathrooms have purse hooks in the stalls. 4. They take my weird insurance. Cons: 1. They don't give you all the info you need on the prescription form so you have to call back and ask for it and it makes buying cute glasses a pain. 2. They're never ready on time. This is my third time coming here and my third time waiting ages after my appointment time. They never apologize or give me a heads up when I check in that they're running behind schedule. I would say if this is the only place that takes your insurance, come here. But if you value your time and have other options, maybe choose a different spot. read more

I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a doctor at this office. Dr. Vu was dismissive, belittling, and openly disrespectful throughout the appointment. Rather than listening to concerns or answering questions professionally, he laughed at me and made me feel completely unheard. I've worn glasses for the past 15 years, yet according to him, I apparently never needed them. The entire interaction felt more like gaslighting than medical care. I can tolerate a doctor with minimal bedside manner if they are competent and respectful, but this went far beyond that. No patient should be treated this way. Vu Nguyen was extremely rude, disrespectful, uncommunicative, unprofessional, and dismissive. He tried to pressure me into an out of pocket cost after I had already said no twice. He didn't explain anything before he did it and switched pictures so quickly I could barely focus and it gave me a headache. I have worn glasses for six years. He told me I don't have a prescription and don't need glasses and that my previous optometrist was lying and didn't make my glasses gradient. I have never had such a terrible experience, go ANYWHERE else if you can, you will get way better service. He literally laughed when I told him my glasses were gradient and used for daily life, along with driving and reading. He said I'm "confusing the hell out of him" because my vision is perfect. When I asked again about him saying I don't have a prescription, he laughed again in a very dismissive way and said that he doesn't know why my glasses are so strong because I have perfect vision, after me not struggling to read half the stuff on the pictures. Truly the worst doctor I have ever dealt with in any capacity and not a kind person either. If you have to go here, I hope you get any other doctor so you don't have to deal with Vu Nguyen. After reading the other reviews, it is very clear that Vu Nguyen has a history of this kind of abuse of his patients (I don't even want to call him a doctor because no doctor would treat their patients with so much contempt and disrespect), and I will definitely be filing a complaint with the board of optometry as it is shown through other reviews that this is not his first offense or complaint. I have never left an appointment feeling so belittled, dismissed, disrespected, and made to feel so stupid. It makes me sad to write this because I have been seeing Dr. Barber since we moved here in 2020. I am very impressed with the advanced equipment that is in the office. Unfortunately, I took my daughter in for a check up on Thursday, and she was given a prescription for glasses for the first time. I was on a call for work outside and came in and just requested that I get the prescription so that I could take it to Costco. I was then berated by the optician, that everyone complains about, who proceeded to say that only "dumb customers that like to waste money go to Costco because they don't actually have in network VSP". ...Which I know, for a fact is not the case because I have always taken my glasses and contacts prescriptions there and had them fully covered. Not only that, she said "I put that on God and six white women." I don't even know what in the confederate flag that means, but I looked at my half black daughter very uncomfortably and got the hell out of there as soon as possible. I have a hard time understanding why this can be a common and consistent complaint yet never addressed. regardless, my family and I will be seeking care from another provider going forward. read more

The older lady was talking to her colleague about how dumb some customers are! That's so unprofessional! Neither of them offer help after we repeatedly asking for it. I have been a patient of Dr. Barber's for many years. Although she is thorough and super friendly, she has been late to every appointment of mine. Her own staff show frustration due to her delays. Additionally, the staff turnover is outrageous. The only constant is Kerri, who is very unfriendly, unwelcoming and harsh, when she speaks with patients and other staff. I have been with Dr. Heidi Schauffele, OD, for many years. She recently moved to Vista Eye Care. I am getting to know the staff who all seem really welcoming and nice. I love Bre. She was with Dr. Schauffele from her prior office and is a gem. Hard to find that caliber of intellect, compassion and warmth. Another person I met that is very caring and friendly is Monica. As always, Dr. Schauffele is amazing! I have quite a few diagnoses: myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. It is very difficult to get gas permeable hard lenses (with those 3 diagnoses) to fit correctly and have wonderful vision. Dr. Schauffele has always had patience with me over multiple visits. She always comes up with new ways to get my lenses to fit perfectly and have excellent vision, though my eyes are changing and aging. Her staff have always worked diligently to get my insurance to cover whatever is possible. The office ambience is calm and serene here and I like the bathroom which is out the back hallway instead of in the middle of the lobby. I love this place and would highly recommend it. read more

Edited: Dec 16, 2024- I initially scheduled an appointment with Dr Nguyen for my appointment. (I was not there today.) I even received a text confirmed my appointment with Dr. Nguyen. When I arrived and checked in, I confirmed if I was seeing Dr Nguyen and was told I was seeing Dr Barber. I did see Dr Barber and we discussed her Air Force Certificate on the wall. She told me the Dr Nguyen was out the day of my appointment. While I did find Dr Barber a nice doctor, I did not schedule with her and would have appreciated a heads-up on changing my doctor before my actual appointment. Then, to top it off, all the documents I left with were signed by Dr Nguyen, which that doctor wasn't even in the office on the day of my appointment, AND my insurance company was billed for Dr Nguyen NOT Dr Barber. Nothing about my review is confusing. I am being very direct and transparent with my review. That's all I will say. Do better. Original Review: Dec 16, 2025- I had a really disappointing experience at this optometrist's office. I was supposed to see a specific provider, but when I got there, they switched me to someone else without giving me any heads-up. The staff member who helped me with glasses was rude and unprofessional, offering little help and speaking to me in a dismissive tone. I'm really disappointed to have to write this because I've been seeing Dr. Barber at Vista Point Eye Care for over 10 years, and I've always had a great experience--usually a solid 5 stars. But recently, I've run into some frustrating issues with the staff. I went in to pick up my new glasses on Friday, September 20th, around 3:30-4 PM. When I arrived, there were no other patients waiting, so I talked to the receptionist who got my glasses and set them at the desk for the new glasses lady. She didn't tell me to sit anywhere else, so I went to wait at the desk. The glasses lady was finishing up with a patient getting contacts, so I waited patiently. As I sat there, more people came in, and soon the place was packed. When it was finally my turn, the glasses lady gave me a glaring look and loudly accused me of cutting the line, saying there was someone ahead of me. I was shocked and said, "No, I was here first!" She pointed to a woman by the door I had never seen before and continued to raise her voice at me. I felt confused and embarrassed. I just wanted to leave with my glasses, and when I asked if I could do that, she rudely said yes. I couldn't believe how that interaction went down, especially since the front staff has always felt friendly and welcoming in the past. On top of that, Dr. Barber prescribed Restasis during my last visit, but after a month, I still haven't received the prescription. I've left multiple messages with the receptionist but have given up because I'm not sure if they even got through--Dr. Barber is usually so responsive. My glasses took over a month to arrive, and I had to call weekly for updates, with no communication from the staff during that time. I've also noticed that the front office seems chaotic now, with patient files and glasses piled everywhere, which is a big change from previous years. It' was my daughters first time at a eye doctor. She was already nervous and scared that she would need glasses. What kid would want to wear glasses. The doctor I think was doctor Nguyen was horrible. Saying in front of my 8 year old daughter that it was too late to fix her eyes. That she would never have 20/20 that her eyes were horrible and that if she didn't get glasses she would never get her drivers license. He made her cry sitting right there in the seat. I am so upset. He was so rude and wouldn't even let me talk. Unfortunately I have to return to pick up her glasses but other than that I will never return to this office. Doctors like that should not practice. I am so pleased with my glasses. I had the luxury of being assisted by the 2 best opticians I have ever received services from, Caree and Jackie, and I hVe been wearing glasses for 30 years. Caree's knowledge is second to none and is so kind and inviting. Jackie is also extremely knowledgeable and was so direct and helpful. They both explained every detail of my glasses and which ones fit my face the best. I have never had opticians explain things in such detail and with such a warm attitude. My expectations for glasses are not high but this store was the worst I have ever experienced. First of all, they won't contact you. I read the reviews and found out that someone had the same experience as me. I waited for over 3 weeks for my new glasses. I thought this place was a bit slow, and then I finally called to update. In weeks after I got my new glasses, my glasses broke and I had to wait again for new frame. This time it was OVER A MONTH!!. No one working here cared about my glasses. I think even 1 Star is not suitable. I went to this Optometry because I like how the reviews are towards Dr. Barber. My husband brought my son to his appointment and found this glasses. No negative words were said towards the first appointment. According to my husband Dr. Barber is very nice and accommodating. The bad experience came after picking up the eyeglasses. One rule in our family ... we don't buy cheap eyewear. I wear eyeglasses since I was in kindergarten so I know how important comfortability is when it comes to the eyes. I always trust the people who works in optometry to give their professional opinion because they should know better than the buyer. They measure it to your face and make sure it's not gonna be uncomfortable (my experience from a different place I went) if your asking why I decided to go here if I have my own optometrist? It's because I can't wait anymore for the next appointment, my son needs to be seen ASAP) So moving forward to pick up day. I noticed right away that my sons ear seem to fold while wearing the eyeglasses. We were told we can come back any time if there's some issues. I called the next morning and discussed the problem and right away was told there's nothing that can be done. They suggested to buy the holder strap (I have those already and tried) but the problem is not that it's loose or falling, ..... it folds my son's ears. I was told I can come by and they will see if they can do something about. Went that afternoon. My son was seen, she did some bending of the side of the frame. But the problem wasn't solved. My son was asked if he feels ok, of course he'll say yes because he's excited about his new glasses. But try having your ears bent for a long time and tell me if it's gonna be ok after several days. Wasted my insurance on something so important. I called my optometrist and was told my issue could have been addressed. The child is gonna wear the glasses at school and home and he should feel comfortable so his treatment will have a positive result. Holy crap! I love this place and will be recommending it to everyone!!! I've been to different eye doctors and my experience here was truly memorable. The entire process was seamless and the staff made me feel comfortable from the get-go. Dr. Barber was very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable in her craft. It was clear to me that her priority was good eye health. She went above and beyond to educate me on my eyes and I appreciated that because I'd never had a doctor who was so invested in the care that they were providing. Definitely made me feel like I was with family. For the glasses portion of my visit, I was helped by Jaclyn Jones who was also so stinking sweet. She had amazing suggestions and helped me picked out the best pair. I never once felt pressured to pick something I didn't want which is a common practice of other eye doctor. I want to start out by saying that this review is strictly based on my experience with the staff. I had an appointment with Dr. Barber for an eye exam. She is a great doctor, very knowledgeable and personable. The staff, on the other hand, is rude and condescending. With prescription in hand, I walked over to the two ladies near the eyeglasses area. I stood there for a good 10 minutes before they even acknowledged me. They knew I was standing there. Finally one looked up, with an exasperated look on her face, like I was bothering her. I explained that I needed to pick out some new frames. I felt like neither one wanted to take the time to answer any questions I might have. I felt like I was dismissed. Because my experience with Dr. Barber was so positive, I went back a second time, after all everyone can have a bad day. I wanted to give the staff the benefit of the doubt. Dr. Barber guided me through the process. She even gave me a superior lens because the less expensive ones didn't work out for me, without charging me extra! This shop is one-of-a-kind. I followed Dr Barber from her old location to the "new office" as she specializes in contact lenses. I continue to be impressed with her knowledge and professionalism. Dr. Barber had reviewed my chart thoroughly before my visit and so she was extremely well prepared for my routine eye exam. You just don't see this kind of attention to detail in most medical professionals. Then as luck may have it, I was doing yard work and was poked in the eye with a stick. The staff was able to squeeze me in so that I could have my eye looked at. My kids love Dr. Veronica Barber, as do my kids. We followed her over to her new location. We didn't know Dr. Barber previously, but she has always impressed me with her love for her work, and she always remembers details about me (and that I have an obsession with orange). Most importantly she cares about the health of our eyes and is proactive. She has some new tools for eye examination that can see the entire eye, without having to put any drops in your eyes (and she can see even more about your eyes' health - it was amazing, and I shared pics). I picked this office based on location. I had to follow up a few times to reach someone, and when I showed up for my first appt they had the wrong info on file for me and came close to turning me away. Eventually I was able to provide the correct info. The doctor saw me, and babbled a bunch of random info at me, misdiagnosed my Dry Eye as pinkeye, and rushed me out of the office. For a while everyone there very friendly and helpful enough, but when my "pinkeye" wouldn't go away, I went back and forth in email quite a few times looking into options. I let the doctor know I was very concerned about the frequency of infections and I was promptly ghosted. I didn't hear another peep from the office. Fortunately I got a referral through my medical coverage and paid an arm and a leg to get the correct diagnosis and eye drops. Not interested in returning. read more
