I was specifically looking for a women-only gym, a place where I could feel completely comfortable and safe. For a while, it was okay, but unfortunately, that feeling didn't last. The biggest issue was that the owner's husband started being around... a lot. In a space that's supposed to be exclusively for women, it was just really uncomfortable and frankly, defeated the whole purpose of why I joined. It stopped feeling like the safe sanctuary I had signed up for. On top of that, things got really awkward when the owner started pressuring me to find new clients for her. It wasn't just a friendly "tell your friends!" kind of thing. It felt like a real expectation, even on my days off. It completely changed the dynamic and made me dread going in. I tried so hard to resolve this. I texted, sent a formal certified letter, and dealt with their corporate office. Their response was incredibly frustrating. They basically brushed off my concerns, made excuses, and in the end, told me it was my choice to leave, but they were keeping my money. I'm just really disappointed. I wanted to support a local, women-focused business, but the reality didn't live up to the promise. If you're looking for a true women-only space where you can just focus on your health without the extra weirdness, I'd sadly have to say you should look elsewhere.
