Lorelei is the sweetest! She wasn't available the day I wanted my hair cut but I decided to wait a few days so I could go to her specifically because she was so warm and personable over the phone. Vitaliti Salon is a really cute shop with two stylist chairs in an easy to reach and park location in Fairfax. It's now my regular place for cut-n-color. The salon also has happy hours and art openings. Cool people, great skills, cool scene 5 stars for sure! Lorelei the owner - is fantastic. She's highly skilled with the scissors and does great color-work. As I was new in town, I was looking for someone I could feel comfortable with and show photos of how I prefer my hair and she exceeded expectations. She's also very fun and engaging and uses her salon for small art showings, and happy hours with organic treats like her amazing gluten free cookies and mystery elixirs. I needed a color correction after the previous stylist gave me pink stripes. And I wanted a new cut. She took a ton of time to figure out how to get the pink out. DANDELION NO LONGER HAS A STOREFRONT. Lorelei brings the salon to you, what could be better than that? Oh, I know, she could use cruelty-free, environmental-conscious products. Guess what? She does that too! Lorelei came over to my home and touched up my roots while we were outside on the patio under a big redwood tree. No chemical salon smells, no mess, just sitting in nature getting my hair done. While the color sat on my hair, Lorelei hung out in front while I got some work done. Then 25 min later, she shampooed my hair with some great, non-harmful products and I was done. And I never had to leave home, I didn't have to wait in traffic, I didn't inhale tons of chemical smells-what a brilliant idea! She lives in Fairfax too which was convenient when she decided to use a color she did not bring with her, she just ran home, it took less than 10 min. Having Lorelei come to you beats going to the salon any day of the week! She specializes in cutting hair, at home, for entire families. Believe it or not, for the last six years, I have had terrible luck finding a stylist who can consistently cut my curly (and slowly receding) hair. But last week I tried Marcia at the Dandelion in Fairfax. Honestly, I was so nervous going in, because I've had so many negative feelings leaving Bay Area salons. Right away, Marcia and Lorele made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I brought photos of what my Seattle stylist has done, and Marcia took one quick look, and understood exactly what I wanted. She's holds credentials from two stylist schools, including Vidal Sassoon, which she spoke of highly. But credentials aside, Marcia is very skilled, super smart, and so warm and positive that I felt great the whole time. After my wash and cut, I ran to the bank to get some cash (they don't take cards), and someone complimented me on my new short haircut while I was out! I love the pixie cut Lorelei gave me! For a couple of years I've been growing out my short style simply because I haven't been able to find anyone in Southern or Northern California who can get it just right. Lorelei cut my thick, wavy hair dry, using only scissors to trim and thin. She was clearly very technically skilled and she had an idea about what would look good on me. At the same time, she really listened to what I wanted and regularly checked in to make sure I was happy. I had booked another appointment pretty close to my haircut, and when I told her I needed to leave a bit early she knocked $10 off the already very reasonable price just because I wouldn't have time to get my hair washed. When she was done cutting my hair, it looked so cute that I wouldn't have wanted to mess it up with a wash, anyway. Not that I had to worry -- the style looks cute even now that I've messed around with it. I can't say that after every salon visit. A great find. I'm just here for the summer this time around, but when I move back to the Bay Area I will travel as needed to see Lorelei. read more

I only had outstanding haircuts from Lorelei. While she introduces herself to your hair, she asks what you are hoping for. Of course what I wanted was beyond what my aging dry frizzy contrary hair was willing to do; curly where it should be straight and sticking out where it should lay down. On top of that my prior cut had some 'oops' spots. Lorelei pulled off a miracle and not only was I stunned, I have received lots of compliments. Give yourself a treat. What a great experience I had at Dandelion Vitaliti Salon ! I have short hair and I am beyond particular about how it is cut , and Loralei did such an incredible job of not only listening to what I wanted but the cutting it the way I wanted . Such a great experience! Loralie spent a full two hours getting to know me and my hair. She's familiar with curly hair and the straightened version of it. So she understands what happens when you cut hair dry (straight), then wet it later(to wear curly). Those of you with curly hair will understand! She's sweet, caring and conscious. This was my first visit to Lorelei and I can't say enough good things about her! She was so thoughtful, listened to every thing I had to say about my preferences and personal style, and followed through with what I requested. I had been meaning to try this salon for ages but since it is by appoinment only, and does not take walk-ins, it took me a long time to call and make an appointment. First about the Salon. It's a tiny place, but easy to find on the ground floor of the complex. If Loreli is busy her door may be locked, but she'll see you! Just have a seat at the little metal cafe table just outside her door. When I met Loreli, she was very sweet and energetic. She is interesting and fun to talk to. I showed her my photo of what I wanted and she glanced at it and seemed to know just what to do. Well, she is a good hair cutter but I must warn you - if your hair is fine like mine and not easily tamed or styled (you may want a hip, cut like that) let her know ahead. I made the mistake of not telling her the my hair does not do well with razor cuts. I had wanted a choppy a frame bob longer in the front (which she did) but the cut was about 2 inches shorter in front than I wanted and due to how fine my hair is, all the razoring took out a lot of weight (which I am more used to). As I watched her cut I didn't want to stop her mid style and tell her " can you do the same thing but less a bit less choppy and with sissors?". She seemed very adept at her craft though. The shape was nice, and she did what I asked but just a little more enthusiastically than I execpted. Maybe I didn't have as much to work with for what I had asked for and that's why so much came off, but it would been nice to have a longer consultation about that. At any rate, if your hair likes a good razor cut that is fun. original, hip and stylish, call Loreli and she will create something unique with your permission and guidance. I LOVED meeting and spending time with Lorelei! She was fun, very knowledgeable about her products and methods and a delight to spend time with. She is a very good listener and really follows through on what you are saying...In other words, if you are growing out your hair and you agree that you'll wait on a cut, she won't suddenly start cutting your hair half way through the appointment. In addition, she has a great set of products and shows you how to style your hair so that you are part of the process and not just looking good the day you leave the salon. She not only gave me a cut and some color I really like, but also taught me how to most effectively handle my hair and what types of products would work best (without aggressively pushing sales of her own). I chose her since she really seems to be one of the few hairdressers in Marin who are concerned about the effects of certain types of hair dyes (as the European regulators are, unlike the U.S. ones); and is selective about the products she uses. I had one of my worst experiences with hair color there with Loralai. I begged her not to color my roots with a red tone and I ended up very warm and red. My scalp was all redish ,purpleish. You should never apply color directly to the scalp. They used a new green line for color that honestly I don't recommend. After you apply the color and wash it, then they use a locking lotion which starting irritating my scalp and I asked to wash it off immediately. Completely dessapointed with my color results and the attitude of the hairdresser who kind of got upset because I was unhappy. A professional hairdresser should be CONCERNED about not having the client happy. They should not even charge you if you don't get what you want. The blow dry was terrible. I do it much much better. She is the most expensive hair color person I have paid in Marin $120. My scalp was so tinted that I even called my doctor to check if that could be irritated or burned scalp or just lots of color there. Thank God by washing and washing many times my hair, I have been able to get rid of most of the color that apparently was not locked in because I asked them to wash off the locking lotion almost immediately after its application. I hope this comment will help others. I am tired of spending hundreds of $ for nothing. read more

Marcia has been doing my hair for many years. She's the best stylist, and is now using only non-toxic ingredients. The more I educate myself on the chemical toxins in the cosmetic industry, the better I feel about Marcia's philosophy and using safe ingredients. She's gifted when it comes to cutting your hair too!
