A few weeks ago I went to the Vitamin Shoppe to buy vitamins. At the counter, a man addressed me as "Miss" even though I'm 61. I told him that I haven't been a "Miss" in a very long time. Possibly the worst customer service I've had since Babies R Us, and they've been out of business for a few years. I needed children's calcium vitamins, the woman at the desk pointed me in the direction. I had trouble finding what I needed and asked her if she had any recommendations of a multi-vitamin instead. She had none and reminded me to stay 6 feet away from her...I was masked and 20 feet away. Another customer I the store also had a question, and she walked over to show him and yelled at him, 6 FEET apart, he politely said, we are 6 feet apart. There were 3 of us in the store, and that store is huge. They didn't have what I wanted so I asked if they would be getting a shipment soon. She said...who knows with Covid...maybe...I don't know. Then the other gentleman went to pay and she was a total bitch saying that people don't respect the 6 feet rule, and he was VERY polite, but she kept on. Rude, and unhelpful. Hard pass. read more

My visit to the vitamin shoppe started off horrible but was saved in the end. That is why I can't give a 5 star review only 4. When I arrived the store was busy and there was three employees working. The too gentlemen already were helping customers and a lady was behind the counter staining at the computer. I asked her if she could help me and she looked up, looked at the dark haired male and said "Brian can you help this man" and went back to her computer. Mind you this Brian already was helping someone, and so he had to leave that customer to show me where the Turmeric was. After I found what I wanted I came to the register and the lady was still looking at the computer. I kindly said I was ready to check out and she didn't even look at me this time, and said John can you come ring this guy up? A blond man had to leave the customer he was helping and help me, but he was very kind and knowledgeable he apologized (I'm guessing for her rudeness) and I left happy. Ok, here we go. I know I wrote a review for this in the past but I need to do a better one. The people who work there are a great group of people (I should know because I work there currently, but not for much longer) they are helpfull and know their stuff. The store manager is wonderful and understanding to your needs and professional. The Three assistant managers come from a long line of being in the health industry. One was a store manager of another Vitamin store (Vitamin Adventure) who has a lot of back ground information and is extremely intellegent. Another used to manage a 24 hour fitness and has comeone in her inner group of associates who is a rep for USB labs. The third has been with the company for a few years and who know's the needs of all the repeat costomers who enter the store. One of their associates currently works out like a freak and who has gained a lot of background info on bulking up based on his own expeirence. Me myself, I know a lot about weight loss produts and how to get rid of the pounds that diet and exercise can not do alone. The prices are good, the products do work in some ways and they will match any prices. The only downfall to this place is that the companies policys are a little corrupt and the only way you can make a good living by working there is if you yourself are a manager of some sort. I will shop here after I am gone. They do not let customers use the restroom because of security issues and company policy issues. I know it's bunk but thats life. read more

This place is the best supplement shop in the area. The staff are super-nice, very helpful and competent. The selection is great -- as far as I can see they have just about everything one could need in vitamins, supplements, energy drinks, healthy snacks.... The only downside is that since Trader Joe's moved into the center (good news/bad news kinda deal), the parking lot is full of in-a-big-damn-hurry distracted and harried moms in mini-vans. I went in looking for a specific product and not only did Linn introduce me to the best version, but he also introduced me to 2 other products that have been life changing for me. He was a wealth of knowledge and his help has seriously impacted my life in the most positive way. He really knows his stuff. First I want to say that I have spent a lot of money here consistently. But as of today, I will never shop here again. I have 3 small older rescue dogs. In trying to be a responsible pet owner, I bought a stroller so I wouldn't have to leave them in the car or at home when I run errands. This is a couple covered stroller, with no way for them to get out. I went in the store to get exactly what I needed and get out. I was the only customer in the store. The employee made a bee line for me asking if they were service dogs and what was their function as such. As it turns out 2 out of 3 are service dogs, but she was so extremely rude and unfriendly, we had a very negative interaction. She could have been nicer about the whole thing. Said, "next time we'd rather..", or "leave them right outside I can help watch." No. She was out for blood. We have many options these days for shopping, easier, more pleasant opportunities. Staff is top notch I have been lifting for 3 years and always just have been getting into supplements the past year or so. At first I tried to buy stuff online but I would always order the wrong flavor or something I did not like. They just lost my business. Returned a supplement because of bad outcome. The managers response was deplorable. Also I had 2 containers of omegas to purchase or exchange for the return and they charged me 14.99 ea when there was a large sign stating they were on sale for 9.99. Manager grudgingly responded that the posted sale sign was incorrect but he would let me pay 9.99. I think they use bait N switch. Buyer beware! Will purchase all future supplements at Whole Foods and Pharmaca in Mill Valley. This store needs to learn Customer Service skills if they want people to return or refer others. If You are elderly or have a disability or wish to support elderly or disabled don't shop here. Today I was with my dear elderly friend and when we walked into the store there was nobody there.She made a little joke about how all the vitamins were free because nobody was there. This comment so upset the manager that she went out of her way to make sure my friend felt she was unwelcome. She refused to answer her questions or if she did she did them coldly with one dismissive word. My sweet elderly friend kept trying over and over again to win her over mentioning to her that she would never steal her vitamins and that she was only joking. She asked her for vitamins that would support dementia and was met with a cold dismissive answer. She asked her what vitamin she would recommend for general health and was still given no answer. My heart was broken for her because she kept asking why doesn't she like me ? What did I do to her? She bought a bunch of vitamins because she said I don't think she wants me back here I better get all I can now. ( heart breaking ) Another customer came in and she made a point to be warm and fuzzy towards the other individual further confusing and hurting my dear elderly friend. After we parted ways I took the time to call the manager to let her know how hurtful her behavior had been to my friend. She just screamed at me about how hard she works and she is not trained to deal with people with different abilities. I said I'm just trying to give you some feedback it is up to you how you want to respond to people in the future. She aggressively went on a angry tangent about how hard she works and how people come in bothering her all the time and how hard it is to deal with the public. I said I will not deal with any more abuse from you I'll just do a yelp review ,never mind. I have never had such poor customer service. The woman working there had such a nasty attitude. She was so argumentative with me when I asked a simple question. I simply inquired about a product that I didn't see on the shelf but knew I had purchased there years ago. Fine, I get it, it's only sold online now. I then proceeded to ask about the quality of a similar product they do have in-store. Again, she's arrogantly argumentative and seemingly irritated that I'm asking her to do her job. She actually went on to make generalized assumptions about said product instead of looking up the answer on the computer next to her, or walk the 15-20 paces to the product to help. There was literally only one other customer in the store. Not like she was slammed. Her attitude was so offensively poor that I put back all $100+ worth of product I was intending on buying and left. She has apparently worked there for 10 or so years, I know this because she haughtily informed me of such. I truly do not understand why she is still employed there. Just so everyone knows, I'm generally really against writing bad reviews & prefer to not badmouth anyone or anything, but I feel that because certain aspects of this business concerns the public's health & well-being, it is a necessary action. Over the years, I've shopped at a variety of supplement stores, including Vitamin Shoppe, especially in college, so I'd like to think I have a pretty good perception of each place & what it has to offer. As far as the simple stuff goes, it kind of reminds me of Wal Mart when I go in here...lotta stuff but I've made purchases here before on items that don't work and/or were incorrectly suggested to me for my goals. I don't like that I feel more knowledgeable than the staff about the products. The prices seem low, but so does the quality of most of the supplements. You can find some good stuff, but you really have to know what you're looking for. It also concerns me that almost none of it is regulated...& that Vitamin Shoppe's house brand all mention that the items are made by a different company on the label. What's up with that? Shouldn't a company make it's own stuff so it can stand behind it's own quality? The windows all have warning signs from prop 65 saying some of the products are known to cause harm....that kinda weirded me out of I'm being honest. At least GNC has more authenticity going for it, & has a staff that generally speaking leads the lifestyle. I feel more comfortable asking for advice there, even if they do have some flaws as well. read more

This is now such an awful store. They employ lazy, know-it-all young men all of whom have a chip on their shoulders. Just the worst customer service possible. The store never has what I am looking for. When in there yesterday looking for Now peppermint oil, which they didn't have but were supposed to have in the store according to their website. The guy working there directed me to eucalyptus oil. When I told him that eucalyptus oil had nothing to do with peppermint oil and told him that I noticed that this store never had much inventory, he rudely said, "we can't stock all of the thousands of items we carry so you should go online." I asked him why the chain even bothered paying for storefronts anymore since the customer service is nonexistent. He said, "Now is an awful brand (totally untrue, immature thing to say)." My advice, don't patronize either this store or the company's website. They don't deserve to be in business, and there are far better options both locally and online. As a rule, I avoid establishments that try to coin themselves as a 'shoppe', such as in 'days of old'. I'm pretty sure only witches practiced the art of making vitamins in King Arthur's time. The overall selection was small considering how large the floor space was. They didn't carry the brand of supplement I was looking for, and the only alternatives were to take more in a capsule form or fewer in the horse pill size. No one in my family is a horse. The prices are reasonable, at least for what I came in for. I would come back for that reason. Now I am going to make an example of the women who worked the counter. They were great, but after the sale closed, I couldn't help but notice them turning into a very unfriendly demeanor once I'd turned my back. Like I said, they are just being made an example of. I've experienced this a lot in my shopping trips over the years but not for some time. I was disappointed. And looking at the ingredients with my wife just now, the quality in this vitamin is not quite as good but will do for now.
