Bookguy ordered the power pesto chicken bowl with Super Greens Blend, Chicken, Grains, Grape Tomatoes, Cucumber, Pickled Red Onion, Basil Pesto, Dijon White Balsamic Vinaigrette, Goat Cheese, and Sunflower Seeds. It was cut in half with two generous pieces and normally I would have eaten half and taken the rest home. With the runny dressing, I thought it would be rather mushy by tomorrow so I also ate part of the other half. It was big and could be a good sandwich to share! Vitality Bowls is a beverage and food cafe serving up juice related goods and some bites. Out of all the neighborhoods in town, it paradoxically makes the most and least sense for there to be another (new) fresh pressed juice shop in Aksarben. Let me explain. It makes sense because of the corporate centers around it and UNO's campus- and hey- who doesn't want smoothie bowls and pressed juices, with an area to study, work, or catch up with friends and family. Aksarben continues to expand to cater to their community and it's awesome. BUT- it does not make a whole lot of sense because there is already juice/smoothie bowls available at lotus yoga (sometimes), and freshii around the corner. Why didn't they open in other neighborhoods? Anyhow, this little shop has a variety of things. Pressed juices, kombucha, smoothies, smoothie bowls like acai bowls, snacks, and a small menu of coffee and tea. They also have food options, which is great! It's a healthy food spot so you can expect the prices to be a little bit higher, but the ingredients are going to be top notch. They have a really good deal with their panini's (adding a panini to anything else you buy for $4) which is fantastic. These Açaí bowls are real. The smoothie blend is great and the fruit is fresh. I've had some really good Açaí bowls in Cali and this place gets it right! The panini's are hit and miss for me. I think I like the turkey the best, but I feel that I like them sometimes and then other times.. I do not. Even if I order the same one. I don't know if there are different amounts of ingredients used, but the first time I had a steak panini, it was phenomenal. After that, it just doesn't seem to be up to par. The juices are delicious. The kombucha and coffee feel overpriced. Quantity of food is important to me. If I'm spending $14-18 on food, which is what happens when I order an açaí bowl and a panini, I want to feel full at the end. Maybe I just have a larger stomach than most of the other guests but I do feel that the prices could be a little bit cheaper. All in all, I like the place. I'll probably stop in every once in a while, but it's not my favorite spot in Aksarben. I would like to see prices come down a bit before I try would become a regular. read more

I'm becoming hooked on this place. Those who know me know I'm not a "health food" guy. Actually really far from it. "Good food" guy gets closer, "if it's bad for you it's probably amazing" gets closer still, and "shameless hedonist" might be the most accurate of them all. But this stuff is quite good. What I love, in addition to the taste, is that it's just the basic ingredients. No filler junk. You're basically getting bowls and smoothies of fruits, plants, seeds, etc., that somehow manage to taste like meals and desserts all in one. Really hard to describe, really easy to enjoy. Word of caution though: the meal in the bowls is colder than you might expect. It's not the cool, crispness of a fresh salad (though they offer those too) but rather a coldness more like ice cream, though much smoother in texture. It's surprisingly nice.
