Good day Yelpies, My recent dining experience, regrettably, fell short of expectations. The Vongole -- clams in a white wine, garlic, and butter sauce -- arrived on a pasta that was neither bucatini nor cooked al dente. The substitution and texture both dulled what could have been a beautifully balanced dish. The Pollo Gorgonzola fared little better. The sauce was timid on the Gorgonzola, robbing it of the bold, creamy punch that defines the classic. The chicken itself tasted overworked -- almost as though it had been left to dry alongside the sun-dried tomatoes rather than complemented by them. For a restaurant commanding premium prices, I had hoped for execution matching the ambition of the menu. Quality ingredients and careful technique deserve equal billing, but unfortunately, both seemed to have missed the mark this afternoon. Brought my dad to dinner twice here now. Both times the food was very good and the service was fantastic. I have to say their salads, especially the beet, and avocado were amazing. Amazing Food !! We went on a Saturday evening, we had about a 30 min wait till our table was ready. So we walked around downtown. When our table was ready, we were seated, it did take about 10 mins for anyone to come to our table. We ordered Shrimp Scampi as an appetizer, I ordered the of their mixed drink, some sort of spritzer. The spritzer was so delicious and so was the scampi, there were only 6 shrimp, for the price, I dont think we would order it again despite it being very good. Our waiter brought us a bread basket but it was the tiniest portion and it was the end piece...I didn't say anything but that was disappointing. For our meal I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and my husband ordered the Brisket Gnocchi. Our food was so good, the pasta was soft and tasted very fresh. We will definitely come back, there was so many things on the menu that I want to try. Only negative were the wait time for food and drinks, and the skimpy portion of bread and shrimp. Total wait time was 30 mins for the table to be ready, an hour from sitting down to leaving, most of that time was just waiting. read more

Enjoyed the lunch specials. I got pasta with squash, spinach and mushrooms in rosemary cream sauce and my husband had the baked meatballs. Nice side salad and soup came with. Nice waitress, sat on sidewalk with our dog. read more

First time at Vito's. Arrived on a drizzly tuesday evening and was welcomed with a friendly greeting and christmas cozy ambiance. Enjoyed dining and ordered 1/2 Parmesan Garlic Bread which was fabulously orepared next time ordering the full. As we waited for our meal we enjoyed the refreshing Ginger Mule & Limoncello Drop martini style. Our meal began with a small Caprese Salad followed by the Agli E Olio (with added diced chicken), and for desert the sumptuous homemade Tiramisu. This is a fine Italian restaurant in downtown Albany. I think the downtown Albany area is pretty cool and it seems like they have some nice bars and restaurants. We had a group at the high top near the front. Nice upstairs downstairs ambiance and good service by our bartender. The food was right down. The middle service was excellent and we had a very nice time. If you're looking for Italian in this area of Oregon, I would suggest Vito's! read more

This has become my go-to spot as a downtown resident. The drinks are stellar - from the never-fail signature limoncello drop to a bartender's creation on a less busy visit as well as a wide selection of wines for those who prefer and a solid selection of beers or cider on tap there is a win for everyone (including Italian sodas, lemonades, more for the non alcoholic options). The food is lovely, I cannot get enough of the mushroom ravioli - and if you are lucky enough to catch happy hour, you can get a few special items there as well. Every item has been a win for me, my family, and the many guests I've dined with. The real reason I can't stay away, though, is the fantastic people making magic here. The owner, the wait staff, the hosts, the bartenders, AND the kitchen crew all make it the place that I'm happy to have made my personal most-visited. Very busy and not enough staff to accommodate the amount of business. But our server was fabulous--she had the best attitude in the midst of being crazy busy. This is the second time I've ordered a pasta dish and not been able to really enjoy it because the food was drowning in cream sauce. I like a good sauce, but why this restaurant seems to overcompensate with sauce just mystifies me. The Caesar salad was good, but again, so heavy with dressing! I brought some of my pasta home but only after making sure it was lifted out of the pool of pesto cream sauce it was drowned in. It literally had enough sauce to look like a pesto cream soup with bits of chicken, tomatoes, and artichoke hearts in it, along with some noodles. I really hope whoever owns this place and/or does the food prep, will lighten up on heavy-handed saucing so that all the ingredients can be appreciated. read more

My partner and I went out for our last date before we headed back home for Winter break. What used to be Gamberettis, Vito's Trattorrita, is our go to spot. Since the change of ownership, it has only changed for the better. Through the service, food, and overall ambiance, we forgot about our finals, work, and other stressors. Celebrated here with friends and we had amazing food. Appetizers were shrimp scampi and calamari (sauce was so good with this). We ate chicken parm, pollo Gorgonzola (great flavor) and the chicken carbonara (excellent sauce). We tried the bread pudding, tiramisu and crème brule. The bread pudding was great and not soggy. We got right in which is so hard in Albany! Loved the food and our waiter was amazing and hooked us up. read more

So I took a date here for our first date ever. It was on a Saturday night and they were pretty busy inside but the weather was spectacular and they did have two tables set up outside so we asked if we could use one of them. I'm recovering from surgery and use a walker and they were so helpful in getting us seated . We were greeted quickly by our server Aspen who we learned was also the bartender . She provided some incredible service. The appetizer and pre-dinner Cocktails were delicious we had the antipasto platter . My date was a little apprehensive at some of the peppers but I loved everything on there. Then later on Aspen brought out our entries and they were spectacular. I had gnocchi with a pork steak on it with some Rosemary and a cream sauce and the gnocchi was so and fluffy it was delicious ​. My date had the fettuccine alfredo which was creamy and delicious as well . But I have to say our favorite part was the desserts . Unfortunately they were out of creme brulee which was my date's favorite dessert . But her bread pudding did not disappoint . I had the tiramisu and it was easily one of the best I've had. For those unfamiliar this is the same location as the old Gamberetti's restaurant under new ownership and now a new name. However you will also find that this is now owned by one of the former employees so a lot of the old menu has been refreshed with some new dishes. The service was spot on, our server Will D, was very knowledgeable and provided some great recommendations. Most of the menu you will notice has chicken as the main protein, however you can easily substitute and change that up with something else. For me the Soprano meal was the ticket and I tried it as it stated on the menu. When I come back and I will, I will substitute the chicken with the Italian sausage. My wife had the pork brisket with a rosemary cream sauce and gnocchi. One of the most delicious meals I have ever tasted. The pork was perfect, juicy and well seasoned but not over cooked. A well stocked bar with various libations await your pallet. If you ever find yourself in Albany, don't pass up on Vito's! read more

First visit, the steak sandwich had great flavor, but the steak was really tough and full of gristle. Second visit was a pasta dish that was so blah, I can't even remember what was in it. Third visit I made the mistake of ordering the Manhattan clam chowder - worst chowder I've ever had. Three canned clams, way too many carrots and salt. Worst of all, I only ate half of my pasta and saved the rest for my dinner. As soon as I got to my car, I realized I had forgotten the box; went straight back and it had already been thrown out. You couldn't have held it for 10 minutes to see if your customer might return? Not giving Vito's a fourth chance. read more

I have eaten at Vito's several times since they recently changed ownership and the food is just as delicious as it was before. The caprese salad is one of the best I've ever had, and the butternut squash ravioli had incredible flavor; the perfect balance of salty, sweet, and creamy. The service is consistently good and you can tell they prioritize the customer's experience. I wish to see this place succeed and get the recognition they deserve! read more

Loved Gamberetti's but Vito's is just not it. The food is halfway down my intestine and im still searching for the flavor! Soda was flat, calamari was extremely chewy, both mine and my boyfriends pastas were bland and even the tiramisu was a miss. Not planning on coming back. Servers were nice though. read more
