I recently discovered Viva Guacamole with my partner on Cinco de Mayo. We had lunch here for the first time. We are fans, and I foresee this local eatery becoming a regular spot for us. Here's what we ordered (all good!): - Viva Guacamole Chips - Tacos Dorados - Vegetarian Enchiladas - with green sauce - Steak Lomo Saltado a la Mexicana You know it's a good spot when they bring you three squeezy bottles of sauces. That's usually an indicator for me :) Friendly service and a cute atmosphere for dining in. Definitely recommended!

My desire to write this review is NOT to hurt this business, but to help improve it. I will not get into all the nitty gritty details, but let's just say this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had dealing with anyone in the restaurant business. I will more than likely NEVER EVER frequent or patronize this business ever again in my life!! Whoever manages and owns this restaurant should really read these reviews because I've seen more than one review(s) mentioning how unfriendly the staff was. It was beyond unfriendly, I honestly don't know what it was. I've never felt more unwelcome, practically ignored & stupefied in a restaurant in my life. I'm literally sitting here shaking my head. I have simply no words to describe my experience today at this restaurant. Simply too unbelievable & pathetic for words. To the owner perhaps it's time to retrain your staff and teach them about etiquette, manners, and how to treat customers. The one staff member that I came into contact today was absolutely appalling and their actions beyond incomprehensible. Maybe he was high! I don't know!?! And I've worked in retail and customer service for decades. If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. Very very sad. :( and calling it disappointing is putting it mildly. Eye roll. If I could give them 0 stars, I would!

Stopped here to eat prior to going to an event. The quesadillas and guacamole was good. The service was friendly and attentive. I'd try them again for their tacos. Nice job with the authentic decor!

My son wanted Mexican food for his birthday, I googled around and came across this spot. I'm from California so I am a bit picky about good Mexican food. Well, I was not disappointed in this place. The ambiance was fun. Had a nice feel of Mexican vibes haha. Service was attentive which I like. We ordered some horchata, the horchata was fresh and you can tell was made authentic and not powdered. Now, I did read in other reviews about how good the guacamole is so I had to order it. We loved it. I had to stop myself because I didn't want to get full. They did leave the big avocado seed in it though which was a bit annoying when it comes to scooping but no biggie. We wanted to share good so we ordered some tacos, flautas, and a torta. Al pastor tacos are delicious, the flavor was popping. The flautas were so good too but I am a fan of juiciness, haha, and I felt it was missing either more crema or some kind of sauce. The torta was yummy. BIG NOTE: I did read in previous comments on how long it took for food, I felt we had a bit of a wait but all our food was fresh... ALSO, I forgot I wanted to order the ceviche and the guy warned us it would take 20 minutes due to marinating. We were almost done so we passed but we will be going back for sure! I am from Texas, i fly a jet on United & the redacted... that said this food is legit. The zucchini is bizarre in the fajitas and just fills space for less protein and onions. Quesadilla with chicken was amazing. The red sauce was awesome. I got beef & chicken fajitas and a pastor quesadilla. All seasoning on point; just odd to put non traditional veggies in fajitas. I will return. - Douglas MacArthur

The ambiance of the restaurant really makes you feel like you've have traveled to Mexico and not Livingston, NJ. We went to VG on a Saturday night for dinner and we're able to get a table without a reservation. However, we waited over an hour for our food. For clarification we ordered a kids quesadilla, chicken tacos, a burrito and steak and chicken fajitas. The staff came to check on us and apologize for the wait, which we appreciated. Having talked to other people who have been to VG, it's apparently quiet common to wait for 45 min to an hour for your food. My advice. Do take out. The foods itself was good and had authentic Mexican flavor.

This was actually the third time that I stopped by this new restaurant in Livingston. The first two times they seemed fairly disorganized so I waited a few minutes, left and decided to return at a later date. That date came several weeks later and boy was I happy. It's not often that a new restaurant opens in our town. It seems like so many have come and gone that I can barely remember their names. I've been thinking for quite a while that Livingston could use a bit more variety in the restaurant scene. There are several Mexican restaurants I. The area but none of them in town. When I saw that they were getting ready to open I had the highest of hopes and thankfully, I wasn't disappointed. The service was attentive without being over bearing and the food was excellent. Portions were great as well. When I got the check I was a bit taken back by how inexpensive it was. It's so great to add another restaurant into my normal rotation. I will definitely be returning here again sooner rather than later. Kudos.

Salsa and chips on the house, very normal...chips don't taste homemade and salsa doesn't taste like much

As soon as I heard that there was a new Mexican restaurant opening up next to Shoprite in Livingston, I knew I had to stop by and try it. Dine-in is now open and I stopped in on a rainy Wed night with a friend to try this place out. First off, the interior is very cute and festive which is very welcoming. The heat was on full blast though, but I guess it wasn't too hot. It took a while for them to seat us as the workers seemed overwhelmed with phone orders and there were only 2 people helping out in the front, mostly 1 as the second person kept going into the kitchen or was stuck by the register. There were only 2 other seated tables in the restaurant when I arrived. Our food wait was around 25 to 30 minutes from when we ordered (he told us beforehand and said it was because the kitchen was busy with phone orders). We ordered the Chilaquiles Pastor entree and the Enchiladas with red salsa and steak meat. Both dishes had really good flavor, but I wasn't expecting my enchiladas to be drenched in red salsa. I kind of expected the red sauce to be on the side so my tortillas wouldn't be drenched and soggy. I ended up eating them all with fork and knife and it wasn't bad. The food didn't come out piping hot though, just warm at best. Both entrees came with a side of rice and beans, also nothing special and lukewarm. The side of fries was piping hot and crisp though! Overall, not sure I'd pay $14 for each dish while I can get something piping hot and tasty ad Don Jose or Jose Tejas, but I did enjoy my experience and I understand they're still working out the kinks of operating a restaurant since they're fairly new. I would say to either give it a try now and provide them with advice, or wait until a month or so in so you get the full experience after they get the hang of it. I'm excited to see how they'll improve and get better! P.S. I did talk to the waiter and tell them they should look into starting or claiming a Yelp business but not sure they understood and knew about Yelp, so I decided to start the Yelp business in order to provide my review. Hope more people can come support and help them out!

We all really like the food here, unfortunately the servers are not friendly at all! They almost seemed mad we were there. We arrived Saturday eve at 7:30 and they close at 10pm. When we arrived only 3 tables were dining.

Awesome Mexican food! My husband and I loved our experience here with excellent service and very tasty authentic food. We had to try their guacamole since it's in the name, and it didn't disappoint. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. I loved the enchiladas, which were beautifully topped with avocado, cheese, and sour cream. Their burritos also look amazing! This was definitely my favorite place in the area to eat while I was visiting Seton Hall. Looking forward to coming back next time I'm in the area!

A very cute Mexico joint in town. The decor has a lot of bright and vivid colors, extremely festival feelings. Since there were only two of us, we ordered Mixed Fajitas , half order guacamole and one Tex- Mex Enchilada。 Guacamole is very fresh and delicious. We could not stop eating it with chips. Enchiladas with green source is very tasty and loaded with cheese. Fajita was a bit disappointing, meat is a bit dry. The veggies were good, soft and flavorful. There is not much ethnic food in town. We will definitely come back and try other dishes and enjoy the ambience.

The band walked around to the tables for song requests and would sing next to the table as well, really cute! My mom requested a song for my grandma, which made her tear, it was really sweet. Most of the staff seemed really warm and friendly, unfortunately not the same could be said from the waitress we got. She seemed to be pretty absent, didn't seem knowledgeable when asked about details on dishes. At one point, she accidentally dropped guacamole on a little girl's arm at the table next to us and she apologized once and walked away, leaving the guacamole on the floor and splattered all over her coat as well as mine. All other staff we interacted with were nice and helpful. On to the food! The salsa was really flavorful and the chips were fresh and crispy. I got the cheese enchiladas which were pretty nice. It came with rice and beans which ended up being eaten by my daughter. She got an order of rice and beans and the portions were quite big for just being sides which was really nice. Mom and grandma had soups which they said were quite flavorful. It is BYOB so all their drinks are non alcoholic which is cool for everyone. I got the lime Margarita which was very limey, very delicious. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot for some good Mexican food.
