The Junior League of Las Vegas maintains it and has tours. I had no idea who Antonio Morelli was. He was the music director at the Sands. The Junior League of Las Vegas uses this house as its headquarters but it was also their mission to preserve the house as one of their projects. The house is a great example of mid-century modern architecture. Originally, it was located on the golf course of the Desert Inn Country Club Estates on the Sands/Twain side. When Steve Wynn bought the Desert Inn, the houses from the Estates were leveled except for the Morelli house which was able to be moved. It was the only home with a crawl space and thus could be lifted up to be moved. The house was donated to the Junior League. Part of the tour is a video of moving the house on September 30, 2001, and it's quite interesting to see its move to Eastern, down to Fremont, and up 9th to Bridger. The interior contains many things we don't see in houses today. The tile work of the sinks in the bathroom are amazing, and the step down shower in the master bath is amazing. The Junior League women do the tour and it's quite interesting. Thanks to them, this house has survived and with it part of Las Vegas history. For those who don't know, Antonio Morelli was the musical director for the Sands Hotel.

I cannot recommend this highly enough. Our guide, Kelly, had old pictures and knew so much of this history of Old Las Vegas. It was amazing!! He told us where to get affordable water (ABC stores) and why ABC stores (which are Hawaii-based stores) are around, took us through the history of so many hotels and the highlights. We did this in December, so I am sure it is a lot hotter in the summer, but there is a lot of indoor space. I'd still recommend a water bottle. All of us loved learning and he was a great story teller. You go all the way down to Container Park and get some coupons and restaurant tip sheet at the end. You will be on your feet for two hours so wear comfy shoes. But we actually would consider staying down in "old Las Vegas" the next time we come, all because of this tour.

We loved learning the history of Vegas and about the revitalization of downtown since this is where we were staying (and how this happened). We were taken into casinos we otherwise wouldn't have stopped in. Did you know there is an award winning pool in the golden nugget...we didn't. The two hours flew by and our tour guide offered suggestions for local eats. I recommend this tour if you want a bit of a history lesson on how Vegas came to be.

The Arts District History Behind the Murals Bus Tour. On the Scotch 80 tour our tour guide Amanda provided information on each home and history of the neighborhood. The pace for the 1.5 hour tour was appropriate and we completed just before the rain started. A 5 star rating. The tour of the arts district was beautiful. The details and explanation of the murals were well presented by our tour guide Paco. He is well versed on the neighborhood. The only improvement recommended is to describe the tour as a Walking Tour. The bus was basically used as transportatation to and from the arts district. My wife is not able to walk the distance and remained in the bus during the tour. For this reason a 4 star rating.

The…read morecollection is enormous, the atmosphere is genuinely unsettling, and the guides do an excellent job bringing the sinister history behind each artifact to life. It is absolutely worth spending the extra money on the RIP All Access ticket. You receive a free Haunted Museum shirt, a badge and lanyard, and access to areas that are closed to general-admission guests. If you're already making the journey into one of the darkest collections in Las Vegas, you might as well unlock every forbidden door. For those seeking an even more intense paranormal experience, the museum also offers a Late Night Flashlight Ghost Tour. Guests are allowed to explore the darkened museum with flashlights and ghost-hunting equipment. It sounds like the closest you can get to conducting your own investigation--though after what happened to me, I'm not certain returning after midnight would be wise. You see, one of the dolls noticed me. Since leaving the museum, I have heard a woman whispering from the corner of my bedroom every night. At first, she only said my name. Now she tells me to come back. Last night, I woke up holding my RIP badge, even though I had locked it inside my suitcase. Still, this was easily the highlight of our Vegas trip and worth every penny. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Just be careful around the dolls, never look directly into their eyes, and before leaving, make certain nothing has decided to follow you home.

The other thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the insistence on having exactly 13 people in each group. I understand the whole "13" thing fits the theme, but 13 people felt like too many for some of the smaller areas we were in. I'd rather they choose a group size that actually works well for the spaces instead of sticking with 13 just for the novelty. That being said, there is SO much interesting stuff inside this museum. We did the four-hour tour, and I honestly still felt like I didn't have enough time to take everything in. There are so many objects and stories that I wanted to remember. One thing I really wish they offered is a little paper or card where you could jot down notes. They are very adamant about not getting your phone out during the tour, which I understand, but I would have loved to write down the names of some of the objects so I could go home and watch the episodes or documentaries about the stories behind them. Overall, I'm glad I went. There's a lot to see and some genuinely fascinating history behind the objects. Just save yourself the extra money and stick with the regular tour. I'll probably go back again and take a notepad and something to write with so that I can try to look up more detail on some of the objects.

I love how they have outlined the Westside on a grid listing all the familiar streets. Graded pathways that walk you through all of the history of this area of Las Vegas are all around. There are plans to install more sculptures of leaders in the park but for now the first sculpture to be installed is President Obama sitting comfortably next to three of his favorite books. The park itself is a nice size and just a nice place to read or enjoy being outdoors. I hope the park stays nice and is not destroyed.
