WOW. Let me just start with that. I ordered for pickup via Yelp on a Saturday at around 2 pm. I will say that parking is tough in that area so if you can go with another person to have them run down and grab the food, that would probably be best. Seating is limited as the place is very small. There's maybe 5-6 tables and they were all taken at the time. I ordered the al pastor tacos (4 per order) and the chorizo quesadillas (3 per order). The tacos were good. They also come with a side of some radishes and cucumbers. But the star was the quesadilla. Even after transit, it was still crispy. These were packed with ingredients - lots of chorizo, cheese, and lettuce (and possibly some crack). Both are served with a side of this hot sauce and green salsa, which I loved and smothered on my food. The quality and price point is amazing. I feel like at a lot of Mexican places I've ordered from, you can only have one or the other but not at Viva Mexico. I think this might be the best Mexican food I've had in the area, and also the cheapest, which is rare. I almost don't want to write that because I want to be selfish and keep that a secret, but at the same time, I feel like everyone should know about this place because it's just that great. This place though doesn't it right. I ordered take out, but they do have a small patio area if you want to eat outside. I ordered two shrimp burritos and it hit the spot. I've had hundreds of burritos but this burrito was packed with flavor! Perfect amount of rice, beans, guacamole and Camerones. Also got a side of guacamole and it was delicious. So fresh. I just found this place a week ago and liked it. So I told my mom, best friend, and boyfriend about it. Combined we have easily spent 200 on this place within this last week. So today I placed 2 separate orders for tacos. I told the waitress (who seemed highly uninterested in getting the info correct), that I wanted all the tacos with no sauce, and I wanted all of the sauces on the side. I further explained that I wanted only the lettuce and cheese on them. I said this about 3 times because she was not looking at me and I felt like she wasn't giving me her attention and I wanted her to get it right. At one point she was confused about the 2 separate orders so she asked another guy employee to help her. I figured maybe she was confused because her English wasn't that good. I am allergic to sour cream so I always stress the point. When I got my orders I realized that there was sour cream on everything. I took my order back to the store and explained that they added sour cream. The guy explained to me that sour cream is not a sauce. He took not accountability for the error and told me I had to pay for a new order. I told him that I had ordered the same thing 3 other times that week and no one else made that mistake. Obviously I refused to pay for another order. Why would I trust them to make it correct another time and not waste my money. So I guess they thought they can just take my money and not make my order correctly. I will be filling a dispute and I also will tell all my friends in the area not to go there. If they will refuse refunds or order corrections they should have someone there who speaks English well and also pays more attention when taking orders. read more

My wife and I needed some comfort food after moving to Jersey (we're from San Diego originally) and found Viva Mexico is only 2 blocks from our house. This place is absolutely delicious. We're big fans of their enchiladas and get them almost weekly when we are too lazy to cook. Their guac is pretty fresh and tasty as well. The staff is very friendly every time I come by for pick up. Horchata is great! Love their beef sopes. Red sauce as side is spicy and the green is very mild, more for flavor than spice so I prefer the red as a Mexican, love that they give both for you to choose. Everything has been good but of course I have very high homecooking standards. Definitely worth any day as the food is not salty, greasy or old. Have tried several dishes and all have been pleasant. Agua de Jamaica is really good too, refreshing. Cook probably did change since they opened but as long as it doesn't change too much I'll continue to go back at least once a month.
