Exactly salsa, and the burrito grande is one of the best I've ever had! The staff is amazing with an awesome atmosphere.

The other day we were out and about and looking for a place to stop to get something to eat and saw Viva Tacos and decided to give it a try. The inside is very colorful. The walls and ceiling have some wonderful paintings. It is a very inviting atmosphere. After we sat down, they brought us over some chips and salsa. They did use the most important aspect of chips and salsa, that being to give each person their own bowl of salsa, so you can double dip. On to drinks. They have various flights. We got the flight of 3 margaritas. They have a big selection of flavors. Also, the flight glasses come in 2 sizes. We got the small glasses. The drinks were very good. They had a flight of 4 tacos. The tacos are semi rolled up and put in short glasses. It comes with rice, beams, guac, pico and a few other items. We got 2 steak and 2 pastor. Both of them had a lot of meat. The steak was really flavorful and tender. The pastor was more spicey than we prefer. I really liked this concept. We also got a chicken quesadilla. The picture of it does not give it justice. It was really good with lots of meat and chicken. Overall, a fun place with good food. Give it a try with the various flights of drinks and food. Had an interesting experience here, to say the least. We were a group of 6 that were meeting for happy hour/dinner, arriving as our schedules allowed. There was only one other table when the first 3 of us arrived. We asked about happy hour and told the items were written on the wall... about 20 feet away. The server could not remember what the items were and there was no other way to look at them. She did say that small house margaritas were 2-for1 so two of us ordered those. When another friend joined us, she ordered the 2-for-1 margs at about 5 minutes before the end of happy hour but when her drink was delivered she was told she'd only get one because she wasn't drinking it when happy hour ended. What?? I've never heard of anything like that. The server took the order well before the cut off and went directly to the register to input the order. After that we ordered dinner but orders were mixed up and delayed. Not everyone received their food at or even near the same time though we ordered at the same time. Given the oddity of the HH and the mix up with meals, I won't be going back. There are too many options for good Mexican food around. Try Agave instead! read more

We ordered from this restaurant using DoorDash. Here's what we ordered: 1) Steak fajitas 2) Combo with a taco and a quesadilla 3) Kids meal with a bean burrito and a taco First, no tortillas came with the fajitas. The combo meal did not include beans and rice as described, and the "quesadilla" doesn't look like a quesadilla. The kids meal included a beef burrito rather than a bean burrito, which displeased my kid. The tacos were soggy and couldn't be picked up and eaten. We've never dined in at this place, so I can't speak to the quality in-store. But we'll definitely never have food from this restaurant delivered to us again. read more

We've never been to this place and definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone unfortunately even though the place is nice looking but the food just isn't worth it!! We ordered the ground beef chile relleno and barley tried it since the beef was way undercooked and drowning in grease same for the Quesabirrias very greasy and very dried meat !! Was really disappointed with my Father's Day dinner and hopefully they pay more attention to the way they cook and execute their kitchen!! Beautiful space--right when you walk in, you can tell they've put some care into the atmosphere. It has that perfect mix of lively and relaxed. Great spot for dinner with friends or even a casual date night. Service was good--friendly and attentive without hovering. Drinks were definitely a highlight. Plenty of choices and everything we tried was well done. Food was solid across the board. Nothing totally knocked my socks off, but everything was well-prepared and there's a huge variety, so it's easy to find something for everyone. The fajitas tulum was ham, bacon, and pineapple and it was delicious! A really good pairing and the meats were nice and tender. The enchiladas verdes were also good. Their verde sauce had a hint of spice to it and the chicken was really good as well. Also tried the jalepeno infused margarita; it was good but I don't think it'd be something I'd order again. I stopped by here after work with some friends to try! The location is great with expansive parking and a lot of seating inside. The staff were quick to get us seated and offer us drinks. The menu is very expansive with a lot of offerings for food and drink. I ended up getting the taco flight with chips and queso to share with everyone. The queso was very good and flavorful and a table favorite for a group. The el pastor & steak taco flight was good but missing some flavor. A reliable restaurant with beautiful decor. I usually come here when I have a craving for pozole, there are the only place around that has it consistently. They also have a large selection of margaritas and other cocktails. The service has always been great, there is plenty of seating so we have never had to wait, and the atmosphere isn't too crowded or loud. I can't review much other than the pozole or drinks, but my fiancé orders a variety of foods and he tends to always enjoy his meal. read more

We've been to the Leawood location twice now. Very large menu with lots of variety and the food comes out hot and quick with generous portions. We like the spice and flavor, has an authentic vibe. The patio in Leawood is a good option but the inside has awesome decor and it's a large restaurant so good availability. Service was good both times, too. One mistake on one order but it was fixed quickly and without hesitation. We don't love the margs which made us sad! They just don't have a lot of flavor. The lime didn't taste very limey nor did the passion fruit taste like it either. But the consistency was great so it was just off. They do have great sangria and other beverages to choose from but this is the reason for only 4 stars! read more

We came here around 11am on Sunday and were the only people here. They quickly got us chips and salsa. The chips were warm and crispy, and the salsa was fresh and a great in between of smooth and chunky. My sister got the taquitos flight and it was very delicious. I tried the guacamole one and absolutely loved it. My mom got the birria pizza and really enjoyed it. I got the Quesabirria and the flavor was perfect. I do think there was a lot of cheese inside the shell but that's just a personal preference. The consume was so powerful and enhancing, especially with the fresh lime slices. When we left around noon it had gotten busier for sure. They had very fast service and high quality food. My make-your-own lunch combo ($8) included choice of entrée, rice and beans. I added "supreme" toppings for $2. The meal was served six minutes after I ordered at the table, which gave me time to dig into the complimentary thin, crispy chips and mild salsa. The burrito had a generous amount of tasty ground beef, and the supreme toppings were fresh and tasty, while the rice and beans were just okay. My Husband and and I already love the Leawood location so when we knew they opened in Olathe we knew we had to come. The location is central. The atmosphere and inside of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful with bold bright colors. Extremely attentive staff and absolutely delicious food. The chips and salsa are super good. We went ahead and ordered our go to the Quesabirria. I love their rice and refried beans. The presentation of how they serve it is so beautiful. The wood block they serve it in says mi casa tu casa. Our server did have a hard time understanding all of our English, and did neglect to explain extra charges for certain items, but any concern we had was competently and professionally addressed. They have a ton of fun frozen drink options, including a six drink $30 flight of frozen margaritas, or an option for just three ($16) or four ($20) flavors in your flight as well. I tried the classic house margarita - small quantity, but fresh and delicious! Tons of menu variety! It has a ton of your classic Mexican fair, but includes fun choices such as street elote corn, ceviche, a flight of taquitos, interesting soups, and lots of pineapple and chorizo sprinkled throughout the menu. I was hesitant to try this place because of some poor ratings.... Alas, it is right by my house... and we have a limitation of quality restaurants. A New Mexican restaurant in the old Wahlberg restaurant. Nice bright lights and very inviting. Once inside they give you that let's have some fun atmosphere. The waitress was on point with waters and explaining the menu. We tried the taco flight which comes with 4 tacos of chicken, carnitas, steak or pastor. Lots of flavor and enjoyed each one. The salsa was good and one suggestion is to get the fresh guacamole instead of the kitchen guacamole. I also took home the trio enchiladas. Viva tacos is a New Mexican spot that opened up in Olathe. My first thoughts walking into the building they really went above and beyond with the interior and decor. They spent a lot of money and I hope this place is around the long haul. The staff were great and super friendly. They have a wide range of margaritas you can a try and they also have margarita flights. I got the quesabirras tacos. You don't see a lot of birria options in Kansas. We recently received coupons in the mail for Viva and figured I'd give them a try. The coupon was for buy one get one free lunch item with a purchase of two drinks so we figured this would be a good time to try them that will cost us at least. We started off with a taquito flight, which gives you two beef and two chicken taquitos each in its own separate sauce from pico de gallo ,tomatillo, guacamole and sour cream. The chicken was nice and juicy. The beef was fresh and well seasoned. The guacamole was extremely tasty and fresh as well. We tried a chicken Cantina bowl which is you can see in the photo is quite large. It was filled with black beans, grilled corn, pico de gallo pickled onions, avocado slices and chicken and was very tasty. The grande burrito had both chicken and ground beef, beans andand rice. It was covered in a Rancho sauce and cheese, which was excellent and had a slight kick to it.. both of these portions are very large for lunch and wealthy price at $11.50 for the bowl and $10.50 for the burrito. with us now trying them out for the first time and seeing what they have to offer this now gives us a new Mexican restaurant to put our rotation as I will be back. read more

I've read both good and bad reviews about Viva, so I thought I'll check it out myself. When I turned into the parking lot, a gentleman who was exiting, flagged me down and gave me a firsthand, unsolicited, review of his experience. Not good. He said service was poor and food overpriced and tasteless. I thanked him for his input, parked and we went inside. We were greated and seated promptly. Chips and salsa came next. Our server arrived within 5 minutes of the chips, and took our drink orders. Our drinks arrived in 7 minutes and the food 8 minutes after that. So service wasn't bad. Now for the food. The vibe of this place seems Aztec to me, and the menu has many tasty sounding dishes. However, the taste I would expect was not there. I ordered the Shrimp enchiladas. To call them enchiladas is a stretch. They weren't baked, just shrimp (several over cooked), rolled in flour tortillas and covered in cheese sauce. "Enchilada" means seasoned with chili's. I didn't get that as the cheese sauce tasted like regular queso. My wife ordered chicken mini chimichangas which were also not well seasoned. Nor were the pureed refried beans and the Spanish rice. The drinks on the other hand were great. The drinks and service added one star to my initial rating. With Mexican restaurants being plentiful in the Greater KC area, Viva needs to up their game. The only reason I would return would be to try one of the other items on the menu to compare, but I'm afraid that the seasoning issue is not limited to one or two dishes. Try it for yourself if you're in the area, but I cannot recommend this place to anyone driving out of their way. read more

Had another absolutely terrible experience!!! I know I said I wouldn't give this place a single penny EVER again, but I believe in second chances, and this second chance, was the biggest mistake of my LIFE!!! And it all ties back to the horrible manager Emanuel who was on shift that day, that did not care what me or any of my friends had to say about the service. The most disrespectful unprofessional manager I have met in my life. And I have a management background for years, and was thoroughly disgusted with his behavior and how he spoke to a patron acquiring about their service they received. It started with absolutely terrible terrible service!!! I arrived at 11:30 AM. Despite ordering our drinks immediately, they were only served at 12:00 PM. During this time, we observed two parties arriving after us, having their orders taken and food served before we were even asked if we were ready to order. These parties arrived approximately 20 minutes after us. At 12:04 PM, our orders were finally taken. We received our food at 12:22 PM. We finished our meal at 12:35 PM and waited for our checks until 12:50 PM. Our entire party agreed that the food was absolute TRASH and they don't do a thing to make you feel comfortable or check up on you to see how your food was. I paid for two people, and noticed a 20% base gratuity tip was automatically added. This policy does not allow patrons to tip based on service performance, as a 20% tip is charged regardless, which I find unacceptable and highly illegal. So I did make sure to add 0% additional gratuity to my tip, and submit this to the evidence I already have against this establishment, to finally create a lawful lawsuit against them. Due to this experience, I will not be returning to this establishment and once again I will advise, do NOT give these people ANY of your money!! [Mine: lots of tomatoes, lots of onion, a little cilantro, enough lime juice that it won't brown in the fridge, no jalapeños.] They will go out of their way to make it just the way you'd like it. They've always been so friendly, with good service, and it's just a fun place to be, with good decor.
