This is a fun Mexican restaurant off of State Line. Our friends asked us to join them at Mexico Lindo after a play at KC Rep. We had some great chips and dip and asked for the hot sauce from the back. Delish! The cheese dip was epic! Fantastic!! The large is no joke. It fed 5 of us and we didn't even finish it because the food came out so fast. My order was wrong. I asked for no chicken enchilada and 2 cheese and a beef instead. I got a chicken enchilada and 2 cheese. I don't like chicken enchiladas. Luckily my wife had a beef chimichanga and she shared that with me and took my unwanted fowl. This time I ventured out to Mexico Lindo KC Restaurant & Bar, and I'm so glad I did! They're serving up an authentic Mexican dining experience with traditional recipes and a modern twist. The menu is fantastic -- so many great options to choose from. We went all out and tried the spinach enchiladas, the Mexico Lindo special, sizzling fajitas, a burrito, and of course some tacos. Everything was absolutely delicious. We also started with some appetizers -- fresh guacamole, their new birria Mexican pizza (a must-try!), and some creamy queso dip. To wash it all down, we tried a few of their amazing cocktails, including a super cool black margarita. On top of the great food and drinks, the service was fantastic and the staff was super friendly. They even have a fun burrito challenge if you're feeling brave! Stopped by for lunch on Christmas Eve. We were seated quickly and had great service. I had Elia's chimichanga which is a seafood chimi filled with real crab and shrimp and topped with spinach dip. It was amazing and they don't skimp on the seafood. I also loved that it was lightly fried. My husband had the Carne asada. He said it had good flavor and was good. The rice had a small amount of peas and corn in it showing attention to detail. Salsa came in a small carafe which is perfect for me bc it's all about the salsa. We had heard about Mexico Lindo through the Yelp app because of the good reviews others had given. We were very disappointed that it didn't meet our expectations at all. We were going to go for a buy one get one for half off margarita special that we saw advertised on the Yelp app only to be told that they were not doing that anymore and only had half price margaritas for happy hour every day from 3pm - 6pm. The picture on the app was misleading and outdated from a few months back. I requested the Tacos Mexicanos with grilled chicken and received carne asada which was OK because I actually liked that better. The chips were fine but the salsa was very watery and resembled tomato soup. It was not very chunky and not very flavorful at all. My fiancée ordered the small combo with beef enchiladas. The plate was hot, the beef was not tasty at all and the cheese was cold and not melted at all. Beans and rice were mediocre at best. We really wanted to like our meal but it was a very disappointing experience and we really wanted to go for the drink special but there wasn't one at the time we arrived. They just recently went under new management and changed the recipe entirely for the queso and it is quite literally repulsive. This review focuses on the overall experience at Mexico Lindo, rather than just the food and drinks. My wife and I met another couple for dinner before heading to a nearby event. While the food was fine, the experience left a bad taste in our mouths. On the bright side, the food was well-prepared. Both my friend and I ordered carne asada and were pleased with how it was cooked. Everyone at our table ordered entrées priced around $20, which seemed reasonable. We all ordered margaritas as well. Then the checks arrived, and that's when things went downhill. Our total was about $70, which was fine for two entrees and three margs. The couple with us had a slightly smaller bill having only ordered two margs. We gave the server our cards, but when the server returned with the cards and the tickets for us to tip and sign, I noticed the amount charged to the card was nearly $90. There was still an open tip line, but just above that there was a small message right above it stating that a nearly $20 gratuity had been added (25%). Herein lies the issue: who tacks on a gratuity like that for a two person check? Even for a party of four, this would be unexpected. Worse, there was no warning or notice that this gratuity was being added, and they still left room for additional tips on the receipt. I usually tip generously, but the audacity of including a 25% gratuity without consent is what prompted this review. My friends were even more frustrated than I was. While the food was decent, the shady billing practices ensure we won't be returning. We'll also be warning others. If they're doing this to us, they're likely doing it to others. It's only a matter of time before this catches up with them. read more

Great service!!! The food was tv dinner quality I guess. I had lunch chicken enchilada with bean tostada. Came with very generous serving of rice and beans. Beans were best part of meal. I used about half the carafe of salsa to try to add some flavor or heat with no luck. My son ordered the queso dip which got hard rather quickly so then it was a big bowl of thickened cheese sauce (no spices in it). If you're heat sensitive and flavor averse this is the right restaurant for you. The service was great! read more
