Food = wonderful! Service = great! Social = total fail. All the hard surfaces makes it VERY VERY LOUD. It's hard to hear yourself think let alone have a conversation with table mates, so it's almost impossible to actually be social. I have been there half a dozen various times and it's always loud -- the disco beat music thumping away overhead is not helping at all. Some sound baffling in the ceiling would be very welcome and may even make me want to stay long enough to order one of their wonderful deserts. Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones hiding in your own neighborhood. I stopped into Third Street Social late one evening with my family for a nightcap and couldn't believe I'd waited so long to visit. I had what may have been the best espresso martini I've ever had--perfectly balanced, smooth, and just the right amount of rich coffee flavor. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it an easy place to relax and unwind after a long day. The biggest surprise? This gem is basically in my backyard, and I had no idea. If the cocktails are any indication of the care they put into everything they serve, I can't wait to come back and experience the food. We tried this place for the first time today for lunch. The food was very good. I had the chicken pot pie (from the $15 section of the lunch menu) and my wife had the creamy chicken sandwich ($17) that came with a side of fries. I was so excited to have this come to Olathe as we don't have a lot of great non-chain restaurants. I have been twice now (once when it first opened and again last night). The first time we sat in the bar and had happy hour. The food was ok (felt like the burnt ends were overly sauced) and the service was really slow. Lots of servers walking by without acknowledging us and we had to ask for a menu. I chalked it up to working out the kinks of just opening. Last night we went with friends and had a better food experience. I ordered the seasonal salmon which was very good and my husband loved the prime rib sandwich. Downsides were that it was very loud (I get it, it's a Friday night and crowded). Again, the hostess and the server were polite but not warm. I want to return to a place where it feels like the staff are welcoming and happy to have us there. I haven't gotten that vibe either time. read more

Tried the newly opened Third Street Social in Olathe and had a great first visit. I've never been to any of their other locations, so this was my first time checking it out. The restaurant is really nice inside. It feels trendy and updated, but not in a stuffy or snooty way. We ordered the sangria (seasonal flavors) and the Soccer Mom cocktail. Both were good, but definitely stronger than expected, so just a heads up on that. I also tried the Diet Coke. Good flavor, but not quite enough carbonation (if you know, you know). We started with the Korean steak tacos and those were probably our favorite thing we ordered. So good. I honestly could've eaten a whole plate of just those. For mains, we tried the Animal Style Burger and the fried chicken sandwich. The burger had a pretty strong mustard flavor, so if you're not into mustard, just know that going in. The chicken sandwich had a huge piece of chicken and was really well seasoned. The only real downside was the service, which was a little slow, but they're newly opened so I'm willing to give them some grace there. Overall, I'd definitely go back and am looking forward to trying more of the menu. read more

Had a great experience at 3rd Street Social in Olathe! The menu takes comfort food to the next level, with elevated dishes that feel both familiar and unique. Everything we tried was flavorful and beautifully presented. The cocktails were a standout and definitely worth ordering more than one. The patio has a great atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for date night, happy hour, or a night out with friends. And don't skip dessert--you'll somehow find room for it. We went on a Friday early evening. I got a green goddess salmon salad. It was delicious! Salmon was seasoned perfect and the salad had very fresh veggies! I don't think this place has been open very long, but it seemed very unorganized. There isn't any place for you to stand or really wait when you're waiting for your table. Then when we got seated, it was hectic the person seating us walked one way and then apparently we were supposed to follow somebody else. Then it took quite a while for someone to come to our table to get our drinks. And then after we got our food, no one really ever came back. I would say service wasn't that great. As far as ambience goes, there is none it echoes so bad and it was so loud in there. I don't think I could come back and eat again and it wasn't because it was busy and people were enjoying themselves. Got an older gal who went MIA during the dinner service. It is pricey and for what you get I would say go Somewhere else. Not bad by any means but not great either. I've been a fan of the 3rd Street Social/Summit Grill for a long time so am so happy to have one right in our neck of the woods. Came here for lunch with a friend and we each ordered one of the $15 lunch options and split them. I got the creamy turkey club with fries and she got the truffle grilled cheese with tomato soup and it was all so good. I will definitely be back! The service was speedy which at lunch is great but unfortunately like with all the new restaurants it is all hard surfaces and high ceilings which makes it pretty loud even though it wasn't super busy. I did see they have a cute patio so hope to sit out there on a nice evening soon! read more

My wife and I had dinner Saturday night here with some friends and this place is highly recommended. When you first walk in the place has a nice positive energy vibe. Our server was outstanding. My wife had their burger and I had the chicken pot pie and they were both amazing! Our friends had the filet and the fried catfish and they both loved their meal! One of their sides was the cheesy grits and I was able to sample it. It was delicious. Olathe has long needed a nice scale restaurant like this. I usually do not like these "upscale" places, but based on our experience on Father's Day, I'd go back! Zero complaints about the food - it was hard to choose an entree because they all sounded good. The menu was primarily comfort food. Our server said it was his first week but he did a fine job. YMMV. Honestly a good ah time. Very nice restaurant however don't eat here if you are a vegetarian as they have zero vegetarian options. Also, I agree with the reviewer who said it is super loud. Lunchtime Upon entry, they started to seat us at a table less than a couple of feet from 2 noisy tables. I asked if we could be seated in a booth and told emphatically "no". Then I asked about a couple of seats along the wall away from the crowd. "No". I finally told her it was my birthday (and it is) and wanted to be able to hear my husband --the bar was quieter could we sit there? She said "oh, of course-- are you having a good day? Is a high top okay?" Sure Our cocktails were served well after we had consumed our appetizer. I had the same cocktail I ordered 2 weeks ago but today it came out warm and halfway filled to the rim of the glass. Our server knew our drinks were late, doesn't apologize but says, "You both have been incredibly patient". We were. We didn't complain when we probably should have. I don't need a place to treat me with a dessert for my birthday but the service should match the lunch and drink prices. Today it didn't. I want to say they make up the perfect restaurant and they're so close to my home so I wanted to love this place. However, the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. I felt like I was eating in a mall food court based on the mood, the open kitchen atmosphere, and concrete floors. The catfish was requested blackened and enhanced the flavor beyond what it already was. That is honestly the only positive. The service was extremely slow. Bar drinks were slow to come out. The second round was requested. Half of it didn't come out. The other half was the wrong order. Appetizers that were requested were not actually ordered. We were told that they would not be charged due to server error. They were. Due to party size the tip was already included which would not have been what would have been given. The environment was extremely loud. Couldn't hear the person across the table. Felt like was yelling to have conversation. If there was ever an intention on coming again. Let me start by saying the food was excellent--if that's all you care about, then by all means, run, don't walk. However, if service matters to you, I'd recommend pumping the brakes for now. The service left a lot to be desired, especially considering they automatically add a 20% gratuity. This was just our experience, and I hope others have a better one. I made a reservation for five at 4:00 PM on a Wednesday or a Birthday celebration. We arrived at 3:55 and were seated right away (no mention of the birthday we were celebrating) --but that was the highlight of the service. Our server, didn't come to the table until 4:10 to bring water and take drink orders. She entered the drinks at the bar, where one bartender had been chatting nonstop with the same patron since we arrived, while the other was cleaning and organizing. After another five minutes, he began making our drinks, repeatedly referencing cheat sheets and wandering around the bar searching for ingredients, while the other bartender continued chatting. When the drinks were finally ready, Our server brought them out two at a time, with another server delivering one separately--apparently trays aren't used here. By the time we ordered (around 4:25), things didn't improve. Our food came out via six different servers, none of whom seemed to know who ordered what, leading us to sort it out ourselves. We were even missing two dishes initially, which Cassody later brought--again unsure who they belonged to. Near the end of the meal, she checked in, and one of us asked for another glass of wine. She walked away before the rest of us could request drinks, we flagged her down and said we wanted another roung. Unfortunatley, the same bar issues repeated: one bartender still socializing, the other again relying on cheat sheets and searching for ingredients. Drinks came out two at a time, requiring multiple trips. This inefficient service pattern seemed consistent across the restaurant--servers carrying just one or two items at a time, multiple people handling a single table, and a general lack of coordination. Even getting boxes at the end of the meal became another ordeal. What should have been about an hour-long happy hour, lasted nearly 1 hour and 45 minutes. That wouldn't have mattered if the service had been good, but unfortunately, this wasn't my first experience with similar bar issues at one of their other locations. I have eaten at the Lee's Summit location several times but was excited that Third Street opened in Olathe. We went the other night for happy hour. We sat in the bar area and had Hunter as our server. She was very attentive and helpful. One person in our party has some strict dietary issues and Hunter said she would communicate the restrictions with the kitchen. You always wonder if that really happens. A few minutes later a person, who I assume is a manger, came out to discuss further about the dietary needs. WOW! Not only did Hunter communicate but the kitchen staff was on top of it and made sure. Hunter was back at our table apologizing that our food would be delayed - no worries from us since they were getting it right - however it was only a few more minutes and our food arrived. Best part was it was very good. Look forward to making the Olathe location a regular place. And again a gold star to Hunter for great and attentive service! read more

It pains me to give this relatively new restaurant a 3 star review , I do this in the spirit of constructive criticism to help a new restaurant get better. We have enjoyed your Plaza location in the past. My comments is about the service. Our server was training a new person , however the service was rushed and insensitive. Showing her you hand drinks and plates to diners instead of putting them on the table. Making excuses for drinks that were ten min late even though the place was 30% occupied. Showing the desert tray when people were 1/2 way through their entrees and telling the server we weren't ready to look but she proceeded any way. Picking up plates after your last bite and asking multiple times if others were finished when clearly they weren't The food was good and I do hope that Third St is a success a bit of coaching for Adelyne would be very helpful. I don't think she is a bad person just does not read the cues and should not be training a new person in poor technique read more

Went for lunch. The service was fantastic! Shout out to Brittany! Beautiful space. My daughter had the sweet potato fries with pork and said it was good, but the sauce was too spicy for her. I am vegetarian and unfortunately the only entree that had for me is a grilled cheese and tomato soup. If you are vegan, this place is NOT for you. Please put a few vegetarian/ vegan entrees on your menu! The grilled cheese was very good, but heavy on the butter, (my fingers were greasy after eating.) The tomato soup was just okay. Too thick for my liking and the taste was just okay. Now let's talk desserts. I love that they bring a dessert tray to the table! This practice went away for most restaurants, and I am so happy they do this. My daughter and I split the s'mores pie and it was phenomenal! Plenty for us to split. Plan on spending some $ here as the food is pricey. I will go back as my husband really wants to go, but I will not be a regular for dining since there are no vegetarian entrees. The 3 stars is only because they have no vegetarian entree options except grilled cheese. I give the dessert, atmosphere, and service 5 stars! I will go back just to try all the desserts and their cocktails. The bar is beautiful and large, so I definitely could become a regular for cocktails.
