I'm sad I only learned of this place after living here for two years and now moving away. They were having a sale, BOGO 50% clothing. I found a Patagonia jacket which fit perfectly and was an amazing price without the sale. I also found a vintage camera for my dad for Christmas which I think he'll love. They had so many great things and the employees were nice and helpful. It's in an easy location to get to with free street parking.

What a gem of a store! It's a very curated vintage store. They have a really great collection of jewelry. I was particularly impressed with their ring selection. I have made two separate purchases so far and intend to come back again! Everything is super charming, like the drawer of "little guys" (photos attached!) For in store events they have a DJ playing records, you can shop, listen to music, and purchase a beverage to enjoy while you shop. The staff really care about what they do and it shows in the details. read more

As someone who really tries to buy second hand, even when on Newbury in the face of hot&new clothes, Vivant makes it super easy! A cool little treasure just off the beaten path. Lots of nice and curated vintage and rare t-shirts and clothes packed in here, so there's something for everyone. The prices can be a bit high for some items (the have the original Nirvana T-shirt for $900 which IYKYK is pretty rad) but also tons of very affordable and jackets and dresses. Not a huge space but very well laid out with plenty to explore! Also has a great selection of records too. read more

I'm sad I only learned of this place after living here for two years and now moving away. They were having a sale, BOGO 50% clothing. Girls that work here were incredibly helpful! They didn't have our size leather jacket on the floor. They found one in the back and on a second trip tuned us in to some leather conditioner. I've been here twice, purchased once. I am super picky about denim and 90% of what I own is vintage. As much as I love scouring thrift stores and eBay for the particular pairs I love, it's also exhausting. Anyone who wears vintage denim knows it's part luck, part knowing specific brand+year+ size. Both times I've gone to Vivant, I've been able to tell the staff exactly the type of style I want and they can pull it. And I'm not asking them "I want high rise" ... I'm asking them "I want high rise slim fitting tapered similar to mid 90s Calvin Klein easy fit". They're that knowledgable, and they always show me comparable options so I can lengthen my list of acceptable vintage jean styles. Today I bought a pair of Levi's 912's and they've got the rare white R-only tab. Certainly, it's more expensive than buying off secondhand sellers but $70 is extremely reasonable. also, words cannot express how grateful I am that they actually measure, mark, and categorize the denim wall like it's purchasing new. I will willingly pay more for that service alone. read more

Vivant is a fantastic place to find extremely cool, wearable items for every gender. Their selection is comprised of vintage dresses, fuzzy fleeces, tops, bottoms, and accessories. On my visit, I spied a Ferragamo dress, a FUBU jumpsuit, 90's rave skirts, and plenty of Hawaiian shirts. This store is well-curated, smartly priced and the staff is friendly and helpful. read more

Vivant is like rifling through your cool older brother's closet! They *always* have what I need to finish an outfit. At this point, I go there to look for something specific before I go anywhere else. I love their sterling silver vintage jewelry and silk scarves, and I'm ooobbsessd with their European workwear, vintage Levi's and letterman jackets. Nice people to boot! Shop local. read more

I am a huge fan of this wonderful, weird little shop. It's full of so many interesting things, great accessories and beautiful pieces of clothing. I could spend hours (and soooo much money) in Vivant Vintage. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and they have two dressing rooms so you can make sure stuff actually fits before you commit to it. They have a huge selection of gorgeous rings as well. Vivant Vintage is pricier than your average thrift store, but it's well worth it - you can tell that every piece has been carefully selected for good reason. Can't wait for my next visit! read more

I love this little local shop!! It brings such character to the neighborhood. They always have the coolest stuff too, a wide variety of vintage and unique pieces in great condition. Once they had this awesome working space-themed pinball machine from the 70's in there. I've seen alligator skin bags, magicians kits, shipping trunks, you name it. The owners are also incredibly nice and always happy to help you find what you're looking for - they helped me find the perfect odd-sized bedside table that I needed and I also got this rad vintage spoon ring that's my absolute favorite. And if they don't have what you need, the owners are the ones who go out and shop for the store personally so they've often offered to keep an eye out for specific items I'm after. It's not often you find that kind of service anywhere, let alone in Boston. Can't beat the prices too!! read more

On my first visit here today, the salesperson apologized if their inventory seemed slim because a bunch of it was over at the Boston Tattoo Convention today. I was really surprised--I didn't think it was slim at all! Vintage shops usually have such a small collection, so I am impressed that they usually have even more than they had today (I will DEFINITELY be back to check that out). The store is laid out in a really neat and beautiful way. Everything is super well organized. Things are priced very reasonably, and I fell in love with a $45 embroidered maxi dress from the 70s. The staff are nice and helpful without being overbearing, which is ideal. Check this place out! read more

Our entire inventory is available for rental to Film and Theater companies, as well as working Artists and Photographers. We also feature local handmade designer clothing and jewelry. Our staff of stylists are ready to help you find exactly what you're looking for!

History

Established in 2014.

It all started with an armoire-esque tiny house on wheels loaded with vintage clothes, and pulled by a boy on a tricycle with a head full of dreams. Well ladies and gentlemen- These dreams, they seemed to be coming true. The Traveling Spectacular had actually grown and it needed a homebase. Thus, Vivant was born. Now introducing Vivant's latest Allston Project- The Bargain Basement Warehouse! This will be our biggest location yet, featuring over 3,500 of vintage clothing on 2 floors, with an entire basement of bargains and sale items. This new space will also feature a vintage arcade, as well as more events and programming for the community.

Meet the Business Owner: Justin P.

Justin Pomerleau is the founder of Vivant Vintage, as well as Le Pants King and The Traveling Spectacular. Through his business endeavors, Pomerleau showcases his background in the interdisciplinary arts. Vivant is exhibition of Pomerleau's flair for Fashion, Styling, creative merchandising, handpainted signage, and his overall artistic aesthetic.

Everything is individually marked with prices. I saw that a piece wasn't marked, and I made them aware of it saying that they might want to add a price. I was trying to help them (someone could steal it since it didn't have a tag, they could claim it to be their own). I walk away and hear one guy say to the other "that kid was really obsessed with this not having a price on it." It doesn't sound so bad in writing but his inflection is noteworthy. Their clothing is overall way overpriced. Half of the stock is lame and the prices they write for them are absolutely whack. I don't know where they get these prices. I know it's on Newbury but c'mon my guy, get real. If you like vintage clothing, go to the Garment District in between Central and Kendall Square, or go to Boomerangs/Buffalo Exchange!

I was very pleasantly surprised to see their huge selection of perennials had been laid out alphabetically this year!!!!! No more aimless wandering looking for astilbe in the middle of the hellebores or sedum. The prices are a bit higher than other local shops or big box home improvement stores. This isn't a flea market or thrift store I'm sure there making money off the "I'm from crazy ,freaky Allston for a year, until it's out of my system " this is a guy who knows what he's got and ur going to pay top dollar. Hopefully he's a local and making money off the " im so artistic n different then the rest of the world because my parents are supporting men don't tell them but Allston is very safe " Milk them for what they're worth"and then they can take pics of themselves on walking bridge in front of all the locks on the fence because I'm wacky lol. I liked that spot much better b4 they put the barrier down sidewalk at bottom of foot bridge ( It gave us a true feeling of who was living in our neighborhood) they couldn't cross a street after walking bridge to save there lives lol.
