Shhhhhhh I don't want people to really know about this place because it might change or we won't be able to get a table. Location right off Navona is major touristy but they've managed to have a place with great fresh food. Decent prices. Caprese was perfect with lots of cheese ripe tomatoes too. Gazpacho was perfect. Bright. Yummy. Amazing croutons. Had the soup before. Couple different salads. Always fresh and delicious. How can you give a place one star when you didn't like the coffee service? They're busy and do their best. The food is perfect. Period.

Very lovely cafe on the piazza Navona! If you're lucky, the window table has the best view of the beautiful piazza. In the afternoon, with a hot chocolate and I can do people watching for hours!!! more details on my blog: https://www.gustobeats.com/best-places-to-eat-in-rome-for-a-3-day-rome-itinerary/

My husband had to use the restroom badly and the museo di Roma suggested we try this place. They were super friendly even though we only asked for the restroom. Since I was waiting I ordered a latte macchiato. At the bar, it's only 1.70 euros. Pretty good as well.

The food looks good but the service is honestly a bit rude and not quick at all.

I've traveled enough to know that service in Rome operates differently than back home, and I…read moregenuinely make allowances for that. This was something else entirely. We had a reservation at 8pm and were seated promptly -- a good start. Then nothing. Twenty-five minutes passed without a single staff member approaching our table. We had to flag someone down, who initially brushed us off before eventually returning. Wine came quickly once ordered, but food didn't arrive until 9:45 -- over an hour after ordering. In that time, we watched two other couples leave without ever being spoken to, and a third ordered drinks, waited, and walked out. When our drinks ran dry, staff walked by multiple times without a glance. When we finally caught someone's attention, the response was a dismissive "yeah yeah, one second." That kind of attitude wears thin fast. The food was fine -- not bad, not memorable. Bruschetta, eggplant parmigiana, and white lasagna were all acceptable, but nothing came close to justifying the wait or compensating for the experience. The wine list is impressively extensive, though navigating hundreds of options via QR code in dim lighting is its own challenge -- a printed list would go a long way. Maybe we caught them on a bad night. Maybe they cater primarily to locals and tourists aren't a priority. Either way, Trastevere is full of excellent options where you'll feel welcome. I'd walk down the street before returning here.

Their breakfast selection is incredible -- a wide variety of fresh, beautifully crafted pastries that taste just as good as they look. The cappuccinos are perfectly made, rich and balanced, exactly what you'd expect in Italy. What makes this place even more special is that it's not just for mornings. In the afternoon, it transforms into the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxed aperitivo in a lovely, cozy setting. The service truly stands out -- the staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and always smiling, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. I was disappointed with the bread and cookies we purchased. It's difficult to do everything well. Perhaps narrowing on one specialty is best, but I'm old school. I miss the days of the fruit store, the formaggi shop, the wine merchant, etc. Everyone was lovely at Il Gianfornaio, and reminded me of how my American education was lacking. I can only speak English and a smattering of French. The merchants at Il Gianfornaio spoke English better than me. That was embarrassing.
