My wife and I have a catering company in Napa CA & we used Vivial to host our website. We provided the copy & photos & artwork for the site and Vivial set us up with a fairly attractive site. We made improvements by making suggestions & comments and additional photos to improve the look and after a number of calls with our first CSR we were ok with the look and performance of the site. The problems began when we started having delays on returned phone calls and revisions that were either ignored or misinterpreted. As Vivial is based in Ohio & we are in CA the windows of time to discuss changes were small & this became frustrating when we needed updates completed (unreachable after 2pm est). We also had issues with multiple CSRs assigned to our account as we wanted consistency rather than get a new CSR up to speed. We finally were assigned a new CSR that seemed responsive but not capable of making even minor changes to our site - communication was difficult as the phone system was terrible - lags & poor quality transmission made understanding each other challenging and impractical. Responses for changes became slower there was no art director or Mac artist to make revisions as simple as cropping or even the most minor photoshop moves - lightening a photo. We decided we needed to move the account to someone in our time zone with the capability to maintain the account and make changes & updates in a timely affordable manner & told our CSR we wanted to transfer our file to a new service. We were told we could do this. After several frustrating calls with a number of people at Vivial (also a problem) We were told that the site was actually a proprietary property of Vivial and the file could not be transferred only individual artwork. Our CSR did not tell us this initially & said he would begin the process with another department. Our site was shut down entirely without any notification the CSR refused to return calls or emails & we were basically ghosted with an "error 404" message in place of what was an active site. We finally reached an account manager who agreed the site should not have been shut down as it was and reiterated that we did not have access to our own site. Our only recourse was to have our new web host (an actual art director who is responsive & capable) recreate the site on her end with only some of our original artwork sent by Vivial. All at our expense of course. We were never told that the site could not be transferred until we tried to move to another host. The communication with Vivial as a whole was about as bad as we've ever encountered. No one took responsibility for keeping our site active or advised us we had no rights to our own site. We were left in the dark and Vivial acted unprofessionally throughout the process. They are not suited to do the kind of work required for a professional web hosting company - they don't have the right talent in the proper places to carry out the mission. For a communication company their own communication skills are sorely lacking. Shutting down a site without alerting a client who had paid for the service should be example enough. I'd recommend you take your business to a place that takes your business seriously! read more

Donald Mercer has been so patient in working with us on our account. To be honest, I was not a fan of advertising in the Yellow Pages again, but when the sales rep spoke about this option, I was very interested. We realize this is the trend in business, even if it is something new to us. Because we are new to this side of advertising, I have so appreciated Donald's approach and patience. I ain't exactly an old dog who can't learn a new trick, but I'm not always the sharpest tool in the shed either!! She has helped me stay on top of things silly things like when I could not remember how to shut off the snow flakes Becky fixed it so the web site would stay current or when I could not remember how to make the vendor links so our customer could click on them and not have to copy and paste (the way I had done them) Becky fixed it. The investment is small compared to the return you get. Really surprised by the negative reviews. We've only had Vivial for 4 months now and have already seen a significant increase in web traffic and online web form submissions.
