If I could get a negative star review I would. They were absolutely awful!! I had an extremely disappointing experience at this nail salon. I paid $70 for a full set with gel and requested short, round nails, yet the technician insisted they were "long coffin," which was completely inaccurate. Within 2 days, the nails started lifting, and by day 3-4 they were popping off entirely. This is unacceptable for a fresh full set, especially at that price. When I returned to the salon to address the issue, the technician was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. He flat-out said we could "report him all we want," that he'd "be there until 6," and refused to give a refund or fix the nails unless I paid 50% more--for a problem that was clearly due to poor workmanship. I expected accountability and basic customer service, but instead was met with arrogance and disrespect. the color of the nails is the only thing I liked. my nail tech was Kelly. she sliced my middle finger open and made me bleed , my pointer finger on my right hand is so sore and has crusty blood under the nail tip. she stabbed me on my thumb under my nail. I know I have a curved nail on my right hand and it's a lil difficult to get right but she made me bleed and wasn't very friendly kept jerking my hands around. and when it came time to pay I didn't have a whole lot left after being charged 65$ for clumpy bleeding nails I left 5$ and she said "WOW ONLY 5$" in a store full of other customers. it's was so humiliating and I've never been so outraged by a nail tech in my life. read more

This review is about my first experience to Vivid Nails & Spa. The finished result of my nails was really great, but that's not why I'm leaving a 2-star review. First impression of Kevin was very sweet, kind, and positive... My friend was sitting next to me, and he offered her to go sit and enjoy a back massage in the pedi chairs as she waited! So kind! As soon as she walked away, Kevin took a different direction of conversation and asked about my personal life. I told him I'm recently single, no kids, not looking too hard to find a life partner quite yet. He told me to stay positive, yadda yadda yadda. Then he said I should add him on Snapchat and send him pictures of my body, put myself out there, experiment with a single man like him! He made several other inappropriate comments along those lines, but I can't remember all of them. He invited me to go fishing with him and his 10-year old SON down on the licking river, and we can pack a nice lunch and have a good time! Hmm.. okay, NO. As a first time customer, he does not know me at all to be saying this shit. BUT ALSO, I'm a paying customer! To be very clear, I was not giving him any indication I was interested in him IN THE SLIGHTEST sense. So the fact he felt he could say all those things to me says he took it upon himself to say this and thought it was okay! He even said "please don't file harassment on me!" I tried to laugh it off, but it was a very uncomfortable laugh... like, READ THE ROOM!! This is not okay, and you can't make up for it by saying "oh I'm just joking!" Regardless if this is his sense of humor or not, it was completely inappropriate... I didn't leave him a tip. Use this review as a fair warning to NOT get too friendly with Kevin, THE OWNER of this salon. Keep your personal life to yourself and tell him you're happily married! I don't normally take time to review a business. I was angry when I left and let myself cool off for a few days before writing this. I was a walk in. I was greeted with rudeness while being asked what I wanted which I said a gel pedi and powder mani, also writing it down on the sign in sheet. The lady in front was nice and helpful. The lady at middle station continued to be rude. While doing my mani, she was digging her sharp nails in the side of my fingers, she insisted on redoing a few of my nails. The pedi was underwhelming. During the pedi, she kept looking at my left hand. She insisted on fixing 2 nails. She was rushed and rough...using the drill bit to grind down existed mani. Due to being rushed, she cut my skin twice with the drill. Now I have an infection. Today, only 3 days into new mani, my polish is already chipped. Do not recommend. read more

I don't recommend this place I've gotten my nails done twice here. I usually go somewhere else to get my nails done but in a rush both times I came here. The first time I got my nails done left for vacation the next day one of my nails just popped off so I just left it only. Got my nails done 10/8/2018 and it's now 10/15/2018, 2 nails already fell off, color is chipping, and the acrylic is all over. This was a cute little salon. I went in to have old acrylics taken off, and to get a manicure. They left me to work on another client while my nails soaked off, and then they hurriedly cut and polished my nails and sent me on my way without working on my cuticles, buffing/shaping my nails, etc. They seemed short staffed, and had to jump back and forth between clients- often keeping clients waiting over an hour. Ultimately, they removed the nails I had, which was my goal...So, overall it was an ok experience. read more

Wonderful wonderful wonderful service. I've been here many times (just as a walk in) and have only had to wait once, ten minutes tops. The employees are so nice, so inviting and always recognize their loyal customers. Their attentiveness is off the charts. Thirsty? They have free soda and water. Tense? They'll massage deeper. Tired? They'll keep the volume down so you can rest. I typically come for their reasonably priced pedis. Sometimes I ask for their *$45* "deluxe pedi" (deep exfoliation, calf and feet massage, mud mask and a hot towel wrap- pretty much 45 minutes of amazeballs) when I'm feeling extra blah. My feet receive a lot of abuse from 12 hour shifts at the hospital, and I walk out of here feeling complete rejuvenated. I definitely recommend. read more

I had lisa do my nails and toes today. I asked for an extra layer on my toes and she had already put three on I said okay can I have another and she ignoring me because she had already started putting on the topcoat. When it came to my nails I like an extra layer because of what I do as my job. She questioned me again and I still said yes. Was give the extra layer this time but she then proceeded to mumble underneath her breath. At the beginning of my nails I showered her a picture of short coffin nails. This is what I asked for and she gave me long. I asked her to make them shorter she said they are not that long and it was fine she filed them for like one second on each nail and didn't make them any shorter. Was not impressed with her work. I had been coming for a while before hand and stoped because when I went to go get one nail fixed it was super rushed and still broke again the next day. I came in today because of the 50% off for my birthday but now I'm stuck with nails that at to long and that do not even match colors. Got a shellac manicure and regular pedicure here last sunday. Nails still look amazing!! Anna did a great job and really made sure I enjoyed myself. I came in as a walk in so I had to wait a bit. However, the owner gave me a bottle of water and set me in the massage chair so I could at least enjoy my wait. The nail polish colors they have here are also amazing. I had such a hard time choosing because I loved them all!!! Will definitely be coming back in the future :) read more

I've been getting my nails done here for the last 2 years on and off and I always have a great experience. I'm always 100% satisfied. The employees definitely care and take their time to make sure you're satisfied even if they super busy! That salon is very clean and so pretty! The bathrooms are also spotless. So I was in a desperate rush to get my nails done (full set) before vacation, and I had gone to 2 places that were SLAMMED. I decided to try this place out since I was in a pinch. The building was beautiful, beautifully decorated and maintained. There was an extensive selection of colors to choose from, and the owner (Kevin, I think?) told me it wouldn't be too long. I soon realized he was the only one doing nails, and there was only one other worker doing toes. I waited patiently for 45 minutes or so, as he saw the person in front of me, and assisted with polish removal for a few other clients. Clearly he was doing the work of about 8 techs, so I wasn't that upset. He offered me a diet coke, and included me in the boisterous conversations they were having. He finally saw me, sat me down, and got started right away. I didn't know how to articulate the shape of nail I wanted (I rarely get them done), and he suggested almond, so I went with it. The shape was PERFECT, he got them exactly like what I wanted. The execution of the rest of the styling, painting, and touch up felt very rushed. I felt like there wasn't adequate time spent on making sure the polish didn't get onto my cuticles, cleaning up excess acrylic on the underside of the nail, and making sure the polish got all the way around the nail. So I may come back, they were definitely friendly and kind, but he is so understaffed I think his mind may be worried about other things while doing nails. Again, it was all about the little details that made this a 3 star experience. read more

Kevin's customer service is excellent. He offers drinks as well, but that is about all I have in terms of good qualities. I've been going here for years simply because of how nice Kevin is as a person, but I'm going to start going somewhere else for better quality. They overcharge for low quality nails. There's never enough staff. On a good day, there's 3 nail techs-including Kevin. Every time I get them done, my acrylics start lifting and bubbling within about a week of having them. This is not my typical nail salon I go to but needed my nails done in a pinch. I got a shellac manicure and thought he did a pretty nice job. 2 days later one nail chipped significantly for no reason. Then by the next day I had at least 8 nails chipped. I went back to have them fixed and he did fix them no charge which I appreciated. Within a day of having them fixed they were chipping again. Definitely not worth the $35 for a shellac manicure. I'm not sure if I will be back! I've been living in Northern Kentucky for almost 3 years, once settled I started looking for a nail place. So between trying new places around the area and bouncing back and forth between salons I ended up at Vivid Nails 3 or 4 times. I had never really had an issue with the salon and would have said they were one of the better in the area that I've tried. However, I went back to the salon today for the first time in over a year and was disappointed. I recognized some of the technicians and it seemed the salon had been recently renovated. In fact the salon looked very nice inside! I asked for a regular pedicure and regular polish manicure but the pedicure was horrible! My technician dug so much at the sides of my by toes that they are now sore. She even cut my left big toe and painted it before the bleeding stopped! As far as the leg and feet massage it was painful as well. The pressure was hard and not directed to the right places. I was uncomfortable and should have spoke up. The manicure wasn't much better with a quick unsatisfying massage and hardly any polish applied to my finger nails! I would have expected a thicker, smoother result even with regular polish! The technician did apologize several times for my toe, it didn't hurt so much but looks horrible! She also forgot to ask me to pay before she put my fingernail polish on so she asked if she could get into my purse and into my wallet to get my card. Of corse she did this right in front of me but I felt wired about it. She even forgot my flip flops by the pedicure chair and when I reminded her she didn't go get them. I had to go get my flip flops before I left while someone else was getting a pedicure. Of corse this isn't that big of deal but after everything else I just felt she should have got them when I first reminded her. My whole service felt rushed and unprofessional. I felt like she was trying to rush me out the door just to get to the next customer the whole time. If I choose to go back it will be a long time, and if the service is as bad as it was today it will definitely by my last visit. read more

I was sat down and the lady rushed on my nails and was being so rough and I had to ask her to replace two of them because they were crooked, she was also putting some liquid on my fingers and she dropped the brush tip on the floor and continued to use it on my nails without wiping it off or washing it. and then when she was painting them you can see where the fake nail stops and it shows through the nail polish and it just doesn't look good at all. read more

I was in town for my daughter's wedding. I let Kevin know about the important occasion that I wanted my nails to be perfect for. There was not enough staff for all the customers that were coming in. He rushed my nails, did not clean up my cuticles as I requested. I knew there may be an extra charge for that. I noticed he didn't do as many layers of the dip as other salons do. No cuticle oil, no hand massage like most other nail salons do. I have been getting dip on my nails for sometime now. This was the thinnest my nails had ever felt, and of course one broke the very next day. I have never had a nail break since I have been using the dip process. My friend and I chose to go here because they were willing to take us for a fill in last Saturday after hours-big mistake. They rushed through, and even interrupted my my fill-in to help some lady not happy with her nails. They were very rude to her and made it seem like her concerns were not valid. They even put me in the uncomfortable position to ask if I felt like her nails were not good. Finally, when she was even done with my nails she went to paint them very sloppily. She left me with polish on my skin. She even argued with me when I said my nail edge was crooked. I will admit, she was very gentle with my nails and went the extra mile to strike up a conversation with me. Ladies, this is the place to go for some amazing customer service!! I just moved to Covington and looked up a nail place and found this amazing gem. First of all, I will say that I am a very picky customer. I'm never rude but I definitely advocate for my needs when getting my nails done. The technician wasn't shaping my nails the way I like them and when I asked her to change them, she was so accommodating. At one point, she grabbed her boss because she wanted to ensure that she had a "fresh set of eyes" to meet my needs. When does that ever happen?!? My gel manicure barely lasted 2 days and then they started peeling and chipping. Waste of $35! There are never enough people working and they are always in a hurry. Also, I have gotten fake nails there before and they used the machine to take off the old nail and went too far and ground my nail down to the skin. Let me start by saying that the lady who greeted us at the front (she seemed like the owner) was very sweet and nice and she did my boyfriends pedicure and she was great. However, I was recommended by a friend to go there, so I did and I had a terrible experience with the lady that did my shellac. She asked if I wanted the manicure or just shellac and I told her I just wanted the shellac and not a manicure. She continued to tell me how horrible my cuticles were, etc, and I told her it was okay and just still wanted just shellac. From there until she was finished I could tell she didn't like that I didn't want to add on the manicure and was super rough on my nails and left every one of my nails jagged from using their roughest file to barely file down my nails (I told her I didn't want any length off and she proceeded to file them down very carelessly anyway). She painted on my shellac very carelessly too and left a piece of something in the middle of one of my nails that she just painted over. I was very disappointed in my experience here and can't believe someone would act/give a service in that way just because I didn't want something. If you're going to treat someone that way, then don't offer a just shellac option to begin with. read more

I visited this salon for a Shellac Manicure. An older woman completed my manicure and was very friendly. However, about 4 days later the Shellac was already peeling on SEVERAL of my nails. I went back into the salon to have these fixed and another woman (not very friendly) fixed these nails for me. A couple days later, the ones that hadn't been fixed prior started to peel, and I ended up going back into the salon. So I had to have the entire set redone in less than a week! Normally, shellac will last me 2 weeks. The second set of shellac also only lasted about a week before it started peeling. I will not be returning to this salon, at least not for shellac any time soon. read more
