I was in town for the day but n a work trip and found Empire Nail on Yelp. I was able to get in right away for a gel builder nail refill and a pedicure. They were extremely friendly and customer service oriented. The nail shop was comfortable and clean. The only reason I am giving them four stars instead of five is because I went in with a broken nail that I had glued, and when we were working on the nail, it seemed strong but yesterday that nail broke and now I am not able to get to another nail salon anytime soon. So I am bummed I now have a broken pinky nail, especially because we used a cat eye polish that I don't know I'm going to be able to find in another city to get this Pinky fixed so I am probably going to have to get all of my nails done again. Right from the bat we had a great experience. We called the day prior and were able to book 3 pedicures and they were able to fit us all in. We got there in the morning and they sat all of us right down. When we walked in the place looked and smelled clean. They also had individually wrapped tools so you know you're getting clean tools. My nail tech was very thorough with my pedicure. Sadly they were out of one of the gel colors I was looking at but I was happy with my second choice. I got a manicure and pedicure this past Friday and decided on the builder gel for my nails. My pedicure was amazing the young woman that did it was so pleasant and gentle. However my nail tech who did the builder gel was extremely rough and cut into my skin multiple times. I was sat in the back area where you could hear people using the restroom and staff often looked over my shoulder for long periods of time at what my nail tech was doing. To make matters worse I've had the manicure for five days now and a nail has already come off. I wanted to give this place a try as it is a family run business however i don't think i will be returning at least not for nail services again....great pedicure!! There was only one other customer there when I was there on a Monday evening so it was so realxing and peaceful, unlike the big places. I got a pedicure with my mom the other day and it started out just chaotic, I scheduled an appointment online through the website almost a week prior, yet they seemed very unprepared for my appointment. Plus the listed services on the website are different from their actual available services. I got the pedicure with the wax service, exfoliation, etc. The man that did my service was very rough and did not do a good job with the actual painting part of my pedicure. I decided to get my nails done here because of good reviews I saw on yelp. I will be hesitant to do that again. The service began on time, as I made an appointment, so that was good. I requested a full set of acrylics with gel. The tech did take his time, however he was pretty rough with my nails and made me bleed a few times. My left pointer finger he sliced kind of badly and it hurt a lot during the appointment. I told him this, and he continued to try and mess with the nail. The nails themselves are pretty subpar. They looked good shape wise before the acrylic went on, but the shape is not what I had in mind and I didn't realize until later on in the service. I felt a bit lightheaded after he cut my finger so I was just trying to make it through the service honestly. There are a few areas under the nails where the tech did not file, so they have a clump. I will most likely not return. I paid $75 (with tip) and wish I had gone some somewhere else. read more

I'm an SNS/dip person - every 3 weeks-ish, this is my go to place. I love the location, employees and service.

I went in to get a full set of tips and gel for my vacation. I was a little concerned at the beginning of the manicure process because my natural nails were not soaked, cleaned or had the cuticles removed. The tips were immediately glued on with a small dab of glue. Against my better judgement, I didnt say anything- I should have. The nails ended up looking fantastic when I walked out and I was very pleased with them. I paid around $60. However, not even a week later, I had 3 nails split in half and break off randomly. Literally all I was doing was scratching my leg when the breakage occurred. I am a college student on a budget and hoped I would get longer usage out of these nails. I would've rather spent another $20-30 and gone to Deluxe nails in Hyde Park where I've had excellent luck before. I was hoping I had found a new, cost friendly nail salon, but I'll be taking my business elsewhere in the future. read more

I came in for a soak off of my acrylics and a manicure this Thursday and debated on writing this review because I did have an enjoyable time at the salon and the man doing my nails was super nice but it hadn't even been 2 hours and my nails started turning yellow just like some others who have gone here, they're super uneven, and all have chipped to some extent. Also noteworthy that I got a manicure and my cuticles were not taken care of and my nails looks worse than when I came in. Shaping was also terrible i had to go home and just file them all the way down. I went to Empire Nail Bar quite a few times prior to covid, when I actually got my nails done regularly. They did an awesome job, and I even recommended them to friends. On Saturday I decided to get a mani pedi for the first time in forever. I had an event that evening, and another the following weekend, (tomorrow). I opted for gel on both to make sure it would last. I can't remember how much it was exactly, my total was $110, so I'm assuming $90 before tip? Now, I don't expect a mani pedi to last forever, but I definitely expect it to at least last a week. Especially because my nails are so short, and I don't do anything to wear down the manicure. When I walked out my nails looked awesome! The next day they looked alright...and it went down from there. They are chipped and peeling off in multiple places. They look super grown out after 6 days which isn't surprising because the polish was pretty far from the nail bed. And the sides of my nails are so brittle they started to crack. I'm wondering if the cracking is from over filing with the nail drill prior to applying the gel polish? And maybe he didn't let them dry adequately between coats which is why they are chipping and peeling up?? I have no clue, my nails are not brittle at all, and I did nothing out of the ordinary. My feet look better, but still peeling and chipping. Super disappointing that they look so awful after only 6 days, and after spending quite a bit of money. read more

I came here for a basic pedicure with a girl friend. This was my first time here. I appreciate that they allow members of the same household/group to sit next to each other, and strangers have a larger radius for social distancing. The pedicure chairs on average are around ~5ft from head rest to head rest (on the same side of the room). All employees and clients wore face masks, and all employees wore gloves during the pedicure. The massage included with the pedicure was one of the best leg massages I've had in awhile. It was longer than the massages I've had at other nail salons in the area. However, Empire focused more on massaging the legs than the feet. I love that the pedicure drying section had air fans for the toe nails instead of UV lights which, in my experience, dry the nails faster and the fans are better for your skin. The pedicure was affordable, prompt, clean, and enjoyable. This salon was quaint and had all the basic necessities. If I had to critique one thing and "nit pick" it's that their nail polish selection for regular nail polish didn't seem as large of a selection with abundant options. However, I still found a color I loved for my toes! Of note, my stylist was very attentive to me and she was able to multi-task when the previous client came back in because they ruined their toe nails in the parking lot. My stylist set me up with fresh hot towels on my legs, repaired her other clients toe nail polish and then apologized to me for the delay. She was very respectful and diligent. As a first time client, I would come back here for pedicures! I haven't tried manicure yet. read more

He ground down my nails so much that it started to hurt. He continued to push back my skin and cuticles with his BARE NAILS. Talk about absolutely unsanitary. I was cut multiple times and left bleeding. My nails were done way too short and none of my nails are the same shape.
