I cancelled my service with Vivint in February 2026 after an hour-long call being passed between multiple agents. I was told my account was cancelled. Now I'm being billed anyway. No explanation, no prior notice, no transparency. After doing some research, it's clear I'm not the only one this has happened to. This looks like a recurring issue where customers are billed after cancellation and forced to fight to fix it. This is not just poor customer service. They use high pressure sales tactics. I am over 65 and was told I could cancel system within 90 days if I was not satisfied. I wasn't so I tried to cancel. I was told I couldn't even though I have it in writing that I can. They sent technicians to my house twice to remove equipment and give me a refund and both times the technicians said they didn't have the proper paperwork to pull the equipment. I spent over 5 hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue to no avail. They are stalling until the 90 days are up. Apparently they think they are the Hotel California. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. I have been a vivint customer for about 8 months now and I've been screwed!!!!! Had this system initiated on 12/15/18 and it was a transfer of service because we bought a house with the equipment already in it. The guy on the phone with Vivint didn't ask my phone number. I guess he assumed it was the phone number I was calling from (my work phone) so that's the number that stayed attached to our account the whole time we had service... until we decided to cancel the service... out of frustration... because they have horrible customer service. Either they don't listen, don't care, don't communicate with each other, or are incompetent. Maybe all of the above. The tech who came to our house to start the service 1) didn't have the corrected phone number so he kept calling my work number to give updates on his arrival. Grrrrrrr!!!! and 2) thought he was doing an install-- had no clue it was a transfer of service. We were told that we would be billed on the start of service but they sure took my money out of my account the day they talked to me on the phone... a week before the guy came to our house. Our main system panel has been frozen for days... this is the 3rd and final glitch we have had to deal with since 12/15 and it's only 12/28 today. Our main panel has been frozen on 12/24 date at 4AM. Gee, Vivint... I sure feel safe paying $50 a month for a crappy system with people who can't even seem to fix my phone number on my account. To this day, they STILL can't find my account except for with my WORK phone number... and I've told like FOUR people to fix it... This review needs ZERO stars. One more thing... If you ever want to cancel, they don't tell you how fun of a process that is. You have to write a very specific letter or email... and then they won't be able to find it in their system... Poor Business practices. You are an alarm company that cannot guarantee its services or its equipment. You and your sales salespeople practice unethical means to get contracts signed and never follow up as they said they would. You can never get customer support long wait times and if you do it is over sea's when you request to speak with someone in the US it doesn't happen though Vivint is based out of Utah. Have complaints especially when it deals with my safety. You are an alarm service you cannot reach when the equipment is not working or any other reason very reassuring to me. Overall, Vivint is a good home security system. I'm giving them three stars because I've had lots of problems with their cameras. I've been a long time customer and have three of their older cameras with out sound. These cameras would be fine if the installer had properly installed them. For example, I did not want him to poke a hole right in the middle of my wall to run the cable to an electrical socket. It would have been a more professional job if he would have brought it in to the corner then run it against the baseboard to the socket. The installer also positioned the cameras to where it doesn't catch major portions of the primers of the front back and side yards. At that time the installer told me that is all he could do. I've called and different installers have come out and did not want to move the cameras to an optimal position. I am disabled and cannot do the work myself. It seems that Vivint is a decent plug and play system if you can do the installation yourself. I did buy the the fourth upgraded camera for the front yard. The camera is nice to be able to talk to someone in the driveway, however, I think that most people like myself do not need these expensive outdoor cameras to cover their side yards or backyards. My suggestion to Vivint is offer a choice of outdoor cameras at an affordable price. read more

I've been a Vivint customer for 3 years ... I've been a Vivint customer for 3 years now. I recently replaced all the windows in my home and asked them to come set up and configure the window sensors that I removed from my old windows on to my new windows. They said this would be a $50 service charge... Ok, I agreed. The Vivint rep came to my house, he was polite and professional and was there for about 2 hours doing the job. However, once he left we realized the windows and doors were not chiming when opened/closed. I therefore called and had to reschedule another visit, which wasn't available for a week later. A different representative came out (who was also very polite and professional), completed the job and the door and window sensors are working fine. When I set up the initial visit and was advised of the $50 service fee, she had said it would be billed and charged automatically. Nearly 2 months has gone by and I get a phone call from Vivints "collections" team saying that $50 is past due..."for a service that was done 2 days ago".... I advised it was been 2 months and it should have been charged to the same credit card my monthly service is automatically billed for my security system. I gave my verbal permission to charge my card for this $50, however now I feel like I should have disputed this charge all together. The first visit was 2 hours of work and 7 hours of my time. (the visit window was anywhere from like 1-5pm and of course he came right before 5pm)... so we waited half the day for him. The second visit was also over an hour long, which required some wait time as well... My time is worth more than $50. After being a customer for over 3 years and paying $70 a month for their security service and maybe only have had a few false alarms... this was really the only time I've needed or asked for their support. They didnt supply me with any new window sensors, I gave them all my window sensors that I removed. I just needed them to stick them on the new windows and set them up. $50 was a fair price, if the job was done right in 1 visit. I plan on cancelling once my 42 month contract is up... read more

Could not get it to interface properly with my AC and furnace. Water sensor kept sending error messages to the panel. Remote access to the cameras took forever to connect and then had very unreliable recordings. Huge gaps in recordings. Installation of equipment very shoddy. Wires running everywhere. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! We got Vivint in November of 2022 for a 2 week trial period. We were promised that if we cancelled with the 2 weeks the company would take back the equipment and we would not be charged. Now here it is April of 2023 and we are still being charged and our services have yet to be cancelled. We called within the original 2 week trial period and cancelled the services. We call this company at least 2-3 times a week trying to find some answers and everyone gives us the run around. We are still paying for services and no one will give us a straight answer. My experience has been appalling. I emailed Vivint my written notice of cancellation to documents@vivint.com as instructed on May 10, 2023. There is a thirty day waiting period and according to the terms of my contract, my agreement ends on the last day of the thirty day waiting period which was June 10, 2023. I called on June 12, 2023 because my account was still active and I wanted an update. I've spoken with three different Vivint representatives since June 12, 2023, who have given me different information regarding my cancellation status. The first rep, Marian, verified receipt of my notice and said my service was on track to be canceled within the week. The second rep, Marcela, said there was no record of it and told me to email my notice to her Vivint email address and verbally confirmed receipt. She said it would take up to 7 business days to process my cancellation. I followed up on business day 6 to confirm my service was on track to be cancelled with the next few days and spoke with Mark who said there was no record of my notice of cancellation!! I was instructed to resend my email to the documents email address and was told it should be added to my account within 24 hours. At the time of writing this, it is day 39 and my account is still active and I have to continue to call for an update to keep a close eye on my cancellation. I've notified both the customer support and legal team of my experience and am awaiting a response. And I will be filing a complaint with the BBB if this is not resolved quickly. It's 2023, cancellations should not be this complicated. There is a major training and communication gap among their employees. I have had vivint for over 5 years. In the beginning was great but the service has deteriorated in the last few years. Off shore service is the worst. They do not understand anything and read from a cheat sheet that just gives inane answers to ones questions. They started calling 4 months ago saying that my panel needed an upgrade, To date I have set up 5 different appointments with no one showing and no call saying that they would not be able to make the appointment, I work on the road so in order to take one day off to be there I loose a week of work. Consumers Beware: Vivint Security These people came to our door about a week ago and gave us the impression that they were from ADT and would not admit that they were not until I straight out asked who they were. They convinced us to try their system. I told them it was my belief that I was still under contract with ADT. Jared **** told me that if it cost anything to get out of the ADT contract, Vivint would pay for it. I wanted to wait to make sure, but he called someone to install their equipment that same night. My husband and I were tired and hungry and just wanted them to leave. They had been at our house shortly after we got home from work. I reluctantly signed the contract knowing that I had three business days in which to cancel. The next day I called ADT and found out it would cost almost $800.00 to cancel, and so I told Jared that I may have to cancel Vivint due to the cancellation fee, and what did he say, "Oh it's a bummer. But once your contract is up give me a call or text so we can hook you up with the new smart home stuff. You'll love it." Hmm what happened to Vivint paying the ADT cancellation fee? And then, on top of that, they would not put our ADT panel back the way they found it. I found out afterwards that they could not because they were not ADT technicians. Oh, AND they took the battery that was in our ADT unit. I had a chat conversation with Vivint customer service - knowing that I could keep a copy of the chat - and the guy told me that he contacted the person who removed our battery and that he would be returning that to us shortly. After not hearing from them all day, I again went on a chat with them (and ended up speaking with the same person) and was then told that the man did not have our battery. First they said he would return it, and then they said he didn't have it. We had to go and buy another battery as that one was not being returned to us. The best part, ADT came and got us back up and running BUT they informed me that I should report Vivint, as it was against the law for them to take out our existing security system while we were under contract with another security company. I'm sure not everyone will have the same experience I had, but just wanted to give people a heads up. If you see these people coming to your door, don't even engage in a conversation with them. We had to buy a new battery as well as pay the service charge for ADT to hook us back up. read more

A Vivent representative came to my home to try and talk me into switching my security services from ADT. My home was the only home that the representative came to as I could see on my cameras that the representative drove up to my house only and left after. I'm guessing I was targeted because of my ADT signs. The Vivent representative completely ignored my NO TRESPASSING and NO SOLICITING signs even after I pointed them out to him and continued to try to talk to me even after I asked him to leave. Looking at all the negative reviews on here and BBB, I'm glad I did. I also made sure to contact ADT to let them know that Vivent employees are targeting houses specifically with ADT signage as I can see there is a pending lawsuit in Florida for the same thing. Vivent representative's name was Josh and location is zip code 92336. Conversation was recorded on Ring camera. Just a follow up as I see the company left a message wanting me to contact them. It seems like the issue will only be resolved if the staff were not trained this way. I've never seen good reviews for companies going door to door and your company is more proof of that. I was on the Nextdoor app the other day and read a thread about a pushy Vivent rep asking for social security numbers and dates of birth, not leaving when asked, ignoring no soliciting signs, etc so it seems like I am not alone in my experience. Yes it gives discounts on some home owners insurance etc. The monthly bill and credits for the the Actual Vivint bill ALL LIES! He promised discounts to make sure the bill was under 60 bucks, we just received it 75! Then that our credit wasn't going to be affected ... well it was they pulled it. Referral of 150.00 for all the friends we sent over to him .... none existent. Cancelation of 60 days ... also a lie. Yet--for the second time in three days--a Vivint sales rep has ignored BOTH of my 'no soliciting' signs AND my current home security placard (the company for which I like very much) and rang my doorbell...again. How can Vivint possibly believe we'd ever purchase their products and services after being so blatantly disrespectful? When I was choosing security and smart home systems, I read the reviews on Yelp first. Based on the reviews of Vivint, I went with a different provider and have been extremely pleased with the service. Now that I've been compelled to come back and offer my own personal experience with Vivint, I can see I'm not alone. It seems their reps are told to ignore both signage and the peace and quiet of a profoundly somber holiday. After reporting this incident to Vivint corporate, I was informed by the agent to ask the sales rep for their badge number as if this experience was sure the be repeated. If they bother you like they do me, get that number and call. Sadly it seems Vivint needs us to work this hard for them to train their sales reps to be respectful.
