Scraped and sanded all the peeling paint, filled all the holes and cracks in the siding and stucco, primed all the bare wood, metal and stucco, replaced the loose window glaze. Used Kelly Moore premium paints: low sheen for the stucco, eaves and trim with semi-gloss for the door. The work itself: Blakemore Painting did an excellent job! Regio came out to give me an estimate. I had 4 estimates and had narrowed it down to 2 contractors. I checked out both sets of references. Regio's references told me they had had work done over the years by Blakemore and how Regio really went the extra mile for customer satisfaction. I decided on Blakemore because I felt Regio was personable, professional, and a customer advocate. He helped me pick out some different color schemes and then painted sample areas on my back door so I could see how the color choices would look together. He also answered all my questions and gave advice when I asked for it. The painting job took 4 days. They had to do quite a bit of prep work, getting rid of the old wasp nests underneath the eaves, removing the old caulking from the windows, sanding down the wooden windows ledges. Plus, the previous color was a dark muddy brown, so they primed and did 2 coats of paint for the exterior (Dry Sage for the walls and Swiss Coffee for the trim). I also had a Poppy Flower (red) color for the door, so they did several coats to cover; Regio did tell me that red has a tendency to fade faster due to the elements, but I really wanted a red door, so that was fine with me. The reglazing requires setting for 2 weeks, so they will come back afterwards to smooth it out and paint it. (Don't let anyone tell you they can glaze and paint in a couple of days. You will end up with cracks and an uneven surface.) Regio even installed my new elevated house numbers, which look like they are "floating" for a nice effect. He also put up a new door kickplate, which will add interest to the house. I'm very happy with the results and very glad I went with Blakemore Painting. I highly recommend them!
