Amid all the tourist attractions, restaurants, and sweet treats, it was refreshing to find a place focused on fresh fruit. During a trip, it's easy to go days without eating enough fresh produce, so this quickly became one of our favorite stops. Everything we purchased was excellent--sweet cherries, crisp apples, juicy strawberries, lychees, and bananas. The fruit was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we needed after days of restaurant meals. The service was equally impressive. Everyone was kind, attentive, and genuinely friendly. They even had a good sense of humor, which made the experience feel personal rather than transactional. With all the fried options at Pier 39, I love having a healthier alternative to donuts- and that's their beautiful and sweet strawberries, cherries, etc. The fruit is a little pricey, but you're at the pier! The fruit IS NOT ORGANIC OR LOCALLY GROWN and DO NOT BUY THE POPCORN. They had common brands in baskets/crates like Driscoll and Dole so I really DID NOT UNDERSTAND the irrational prices for the fruit. I understand Pier prices can make it more expensive but $15-$20 for some strawberries or peaches that were store bought for cents is irrational. Perfect stand at pier 39. I love fruit and even though it's a little pricey, the location and quality is amazing. I bought a bag of 2 types of grapes and loved them during my visit. Most of pier 39 is filled with junk food. It was refreshing to come upon a cute fruit stand. It was so cute I was not sure if it was real. I will return on my next visit. Walking around Pier 39, spotted this fruit market. The fruits all looked so fresh and they had a nice variety. Employees were friendly and quick. Plastic bags are within reach, pick the fruits you want and the cashier weighs it for you. The fruits here are on the pricier side, this is a touristy area though. I wish the prices were a bit lower but these were some juicy fruits and so sweet. I also appreciate that they are offering a healthy option. After eating mini donuts and chocolates in the area, this is a great option to have! read more

I'm a big fan of getting fresh fruit for snacks. This place offered a bunch of different variety of grapes which always travel well. They also had a few different apple varieties to choose from which always makes my child happy. All of the produce looked fresh and the staff was kind. read more

It's nice to have a place to go to for A+ produce while on vacation. All the corner stores I have been to have terrible produce. We got grapes and cherries and they were perfect. As my friend and I were strolling through Pier 39 tonight, we saw this gorgeous stand of fresh fruit in the distance and couldn't resist stopping by! I purchased some peaches and dried apples to snack on in my hotel room. The peaches are SO sweet and juicy! They even have a sink right there if you want to purchase a piece of fruit and eat it as you walk on the pier! They also had a delicious assortment of nuts, dried fruit & trail mix! In my opinion, fresh fruit is so much better than the fried stands full of churros, corn dogs & soft pretzels {...they are literally everywhere on the pier!} The only kicker is that the fruit here is pretty pricey. For two {large} peaches, it was $5! But hey, they're healthy so I'll take what I can get! read more

Vlahous' fruit left a delicious taste in my mouth. The service and prices? Not so much. A friend and I stopped by on a hot summer day - very, very smart marketing to have colorful and inviting looking produce amongst a sea of fried, high calorie, and junk foods in this touristy area of town. It won us over (so did the provided faucets to wash our goods to eat right then and there). The moment we saw the big, juicy strawberries, we knew we needed to stop. Were they glorious tasting? Yes. But just four strawberries and a handful of grapes cost us close to $20. Yikes. But wait, it gets better. When I purchased a small box of dried vegetable chips the man who rang me up was unbelievably rude. After taking my credit card, he said: Him: "Ugh. Lemme guess, you're from Jersey." Me: "I'm not." Him: "Yeah, right. Okay. With a French Canadian last name like THAT, you're definitely from Jersey. Ugh." Me: "I'm from Maine." Him: "Even worse." Wait, what? Today, I visited this stand and bought some fruit for my daughter and her friend. The man serving us at the register was a very mean person. In short, he told my daughter that she wasn't pretty when he complimented her little friend and said "I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about her. Maybe if you eat up all your fruit then you will be one day." This made her cry and was one of the meanest things to do to an innocent little 8 year old girl. Very expensive fruit, as mentioned by a previous reviewer, but the selection and quality of the fruit was great. We walked through here on our way into Pier 39 and picked up some strawberries, two types of cherries, and some nuts. All were really tasty, so after we made our way back out of Pier 39, we grabbed some more snacks for the next day. While I wouldn't do my grocery shopping here anytime soon (the price would bankrupt you fast), it's a good place to pick up a few healthy snacks for your day on the pier or the surrounding areas. read more

The man that runs this fruit stand is very rude. I bought 2 plums, 2 peaches, a container of strawberries and a container of garlic chips. The cost was $47. I was stunned. When I returned home I immediately put the fruit in the refrigerator. The very next morning the strawberries had gone bad. The peaches were too soft (I bought them hard to ripen at home), the plums I had to eat the next day or they would've gone bad. The garlic chips were also not good. I will NEVER buy anything from this rude man that sells overpriced bad fruit. If I could give them zero stars, I would've. Rude man should find another line of work. I love this fruit stand yes they are very pricey but me and my friends did a test we bought cherries at Vlahos and at safeway. Vlahos were double the size and much sweeter. Honestly I don't mind paying more for quality. I got like 3.3lbs of cherries and it was $36. At Olsen's in sunnyvale its 30 for 2lbs, and Vlahos is much better. And another reason some of the reviews aren't great is because you're not going to find good cherries in winter. read more

DON'T BOTHER BUYING FRUIT FROM THIS PLACE! It's disgustingly overpriced and the guy that owns it or works there is so rude and not to mention, a complete lunatic. My friend wanted to get some cherries and strawberries, but after realizing she had to pay seventeen dollars politely said 'no thank you' the guy rudely yelled 'NEXT'. I tried two of the strawberries, but after seeing they were ten bucks a pound returned the strawberries in my bag onto the pile. While we were walking away he ran up to me and starting spittling and yelling in my face, demanding if I don't pay for the strawberries I sampled he would call security, while I just stared at him in shock.
