They serve homemade ice cream and offer various chocolate-covered items in the display case. We picked up a dark chocolate covered peanut butter cookie, dark chocolate covered strawberries, and a dark chocolate covered pretzel. Went here tonight and it was a little busy out. The chocolate place on pier39 were our of what i had so i came here to try and get it and they had quite a few. I didnt get the name of the guy behind the counter that helped me but he was wonderful. He was very welcoming and friendly and was ready to help me. He even understood when i said i tried the chocolate shop on pier39 before going here to try to get something and them being out. The gourmet mini donuts on Pier 39 are transformed here by dipping them in chocolate. I tried birthday cake, butterscotch, chocolate mint, and coffee. Each were delicious. The cashier was a like flighty. I was in line and asked for 4 donuts. They are in the glass case next to here. But she wanted to help the guy behind me who just had some candy to buy. I used to love this place just a few months ago. But now I don't think I'll ever go back. I need a full refund because everything was old and stale tasting. When I was ordering a candy apple, I saw a fly land on the apple next to the one I ordered. The apples are just out for any bug to land on, and there's nothing protecting them. The apples also looked old, and so did all of the chocolate. I asked the lady if everything was made fresh daily, and she lied to me by saying yes. The marshmallows were not puffy or soft. The service is pretty good, and I used to love their chocolate truffles. However, it seems like they no longer rotate them out, or they keep old ones in their case to sell. I went in and bought some truffles, and you wouldn't believe my disappointment and disgust when I bit into one and discovered it was covered in mold from the inside. I went into this store to buy my sister some fudge and english toffee. There were no customers in the store when I walked in. I walked through the store and headed to the chocolates in the case. All three of the employees were standing and talking did even acknowledge me when I entered or when I got to the case. I moved down to fudge and still no employee asked if I needed help. I stood at the fudge case for about a minute and still no acknowledgement. So I turned to walk out and finally the guy at the counter asked if I needed help. I thought for a second why should I spend my money here if no one wants to help me until I'm leaving. I said no to the help and I walked out. I just want to Pier 39 to get some fudge. The San Francisco Chocolate Store is located between both Fisherman's Wharf & Pier 39. Being that this is a high traffic area for tourists, can someone please tell me why the candy being sold here looks terribly old?? A few of the displays needed some dusting and the chocolate display case is a lot emptier than my previous visits. I'm it sure if it's due to the decline in sales but the fudge|chocolate options on a Saturday was lacking. The customer service needs help in more ways than one. The young gentleman on the sales floor couldn't even manage a simple "hello" when we entered, instead, he had a sour face and was in the middle of dumping back a bag of Jelly Belly candies that someone clearly had a change of heart for. The highlight of SF's CS is the homemade ice cream available. There are a number of flavors offers on a daily basis so there is something for everyone. Located in the historic Fisherman's Wharf, it's easy to see why this store would appeal to people of all ages, who fancy chocolate and candy (also available, ice cream, fudge, taffy, chocolate dipped strawberries, caramel apples, chocolate by Ghirardelli, etc.). I remember the numerous barrels- there were a bunch of them. There were also chocolate bars. I don't recall what we bought. I come here for the candy apples, though it's quite the commute to the city and to find parking. There's no Rocky Mountain Chocolate store nearby so this place is as close as I can get. I would give this place 4 stars but during COVID their hours were off. I called before heading to the store and with an hour to space before closing, someone was locking up already. I told them that I called and said they were open for another hour but they refused to open the door, even with one more customer inside. Why close early? Better yet, why tell a customer on the phone a couple hours prior that you're going to be open and refuse them service?
