Even though it opened to much fanfare almost a year ago, it's taken me this long to try it. Maybe that's a good sign since I didn't automatically make a beeline to the latest Instagram sensation in croissants. It's either forbearance or just an aversion to crowds. If it was the latter, I sure blew that because at around 10AM on a weekday, I was looking at about a ten-minute wait to order. Not too bad really as they manage the line pretty efficiently. They have their uniquely created croissants on display (Photo 4), though I suggest you do some homework to avoid holding the line up, in particular, me. I knew I wanted to try one of their cubes, and they had the $10 Santa Rosa Plum & Toasted Rice Cube (Photo 8). What a fascinating confection this was as they dexterously shaped a croissant into a cubic model filled with plum jam and Carmelia chocolate cream blended with toasted rice. There were even slivers of fresh plum nestled in the cream piped on top. It was tasty without being contrived and surprisingly flaky. I also ordered the $7.25 Pain au Chocolat which I expected to be a chocolate croissant like the one at Ariscault. Instead, it was a chocolate-filled baton almost like a churro in shape and density (Photo 9). I liked it though it was a bit too easy to devour. The handmade $6.50 Latte complemented the textures quite well (Photo 10). FOOD - 4 stars...if I looked just at creative execution, it was definitely 5 stars, but if I factor in taste and especially their premium pricing (compared to Ariscault), it brings the rating down a level COFFEE - 4 stars...good blend, definitely part of the elite experience they strive to achieve AMBIANCE - 4 stars...nice set-up though it would've been nice to see how the croissants were created...plus seating is at a premium (I sat outside on the ferry pier) SERVICE - 4.5 stars...efficient, polite crew TOTAL - 4 stars...definitely worthwhile to benefit from the artistry of pastry chef Nasir Armar's culinary creations RELATED - Exploring the Ferry Building? The viral, recently opened bakery in San Francisco. Located inside a food hall with many great options, mainly for tourists, with farmers market and other restaurants and shops outside. We ordered a couple of different pastries, which were alright - I felt it would've been better if they were warmed up. I didn't try the coffees but it all looked delicious. Some unique flavors - I greatly enjoyed the gochujang twist and pastrami croissant and a little sweet pickle on top.
I've been occasionally trying their "pastry of the month" options and it seems to be hit or miss. Even though cube croissants look seductive I was not a fan of them (tried passion fruit crème several months ago, caramel hazelnut and plum just yesterday) they all are on a thick bready side, need more cream to make them balanced. My favorite pastries there so far are everything kouing amann and yuzu olive oil croissant. Coffee drinks are not bad but nothing to rave about. Just a couple of tables inside in a pretty noisy open space makes it better to enjoy pastries elsewhere. The staff is nice and efficient.
Was super excited to try the coffee and pastries at Parachute after their win for best croissant!! I got the banana einspanner and the gochujang swirl. Loved the gochujang swirl and would definitely get it again, the banana einspanner on the other hand was not my drink at all. There were chunks of banana and the overall taste was an acidic coffee which just wasn't for me. I would come back to try their other pastries, especially eyeing the entremet but will be going for a safer coffee option!
Came on a Saturday morning and the lines were so long. We waited about 45 minutes before ordering. My favorite was the Wagyu croissant and the everything Kouign Amann. Everything else was alright. Would not come back if the lines are more than 10 people. It was not worth the wait. However I would come back if there was barely a line.
The pastries here are incredible. The everything kouign amann is a standout, perfectly flaky and buttery with that savory/sweet everything-bagel seasoning up top, plus a rich cream cheese filling in the middle that ties it all together. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for something a little different!

The line was long, but I honestly did not mind because the baristas take their time in a way that feels intentional--like they're creating art through coffee. I ordered the strawberry and cream cube, which was a perfectly flaky croissant filled with strawberry jam and fresh cream. It was incredibly messy to eat, but absolutely worth it. I paired it with a plain cappuccino, and the bitterness of the coffee balanced the sweetness of the pastry perfectly. The flavors worked so well together that I ended up coming back a few days later to try the cookies and cream latte. The flavor of the latte was absolutely divine, but I wish they had found a way to make it less clumpy at the bottom. It seemed like the espresso may not have been hot enough to fully melt the chocolate, which made the last few sips a bit of a texture nightmare. Even with that small complaint, I would be genuinely excited to go back and work my way through more of their pastries.
My sister wanted to try parachute bakery because they won an award for best croissant. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, they were already ran out of croissants but we still ordered the chocolate entremet and the strawberry cream cube (I think??). Our order was over $30 for the two desserts, which is PRICEY. Overall, I'd say I was underwhelmed and it wasn't worth the price. I should've asked the cashier what the chocolate entremet was before ordering it, because I assumed that it was a mini chocolate cake from looking at it. I was wrong because it actually was a hard chocolate exterior with caramel filling inside. While it looked pretty and tasted decent, the exterior was extremely tough to break (we broke one of our plastic spoons trying to do so). I'd skip on this because of the price and how difficult it was to eat--we only finished it because we paid so much for it. The strawberry cream cube was also different. It sort of reminded me of a croissant but had a different texture alongside a peppery aftertaste while being sweet pastry. While I liked the texture of it, I personally wasn't a fan of the sweet peppery flavor, but the others in my group liked it. We came on a Saturday afternoon and had to wait in a decent sized line to order our food. Even though the line looked long, it does move pretty quickly. Service was average. The store itself was very aesthetic and had some limited indoor seating. Overall, I'd say I left feeling a bit underwhelmed and I don't think I'd personally come back.
Enjoyed their shoba shakerato. It had what tasted like a hojicha cream and strong coffee. You must mix to drink with a straw. As for the pastries I must have ordered the wrong thing because it wasn't that good tbh. It was called a rice jam cube ($10) of some sort but I didn't taste any rice and it was basically just bread with some sort of cream pudding and jam on the bottom. Wouldn't order again. Staff friendly but didn't know about the flavor profile of the pastries that were left when I asked. It would have been helpful to have descriptions by the pastries themselves - would have sped up the ordering process for customers who were also asking. There was a line but it felt relatively fast. The holdup was from customer questions. Three small tables inside that seat two. No trash cans you have to find your own outside. Will update when I try other things.
These are not pastries. They are a work of art. I was simply amazed by the artistry and thought into each item. Ordered chocolate croissant and savory kouign amaan-- both were really good. Also got a cappuccino and liked it. Their decor and theme is very modern and inviting. There is a long line-- expect that-- but it also moves fairly quickly. IMO, worth it!
Located in the Ferry Building in Embarcadero, this is one of several good bakeries, which is evident by the long queues. It was about 15 minutes around 1pm, and we luckily were able to get the last Everything Kouign Amann and gochujang pimento cheese twist. We also tried the banana and salted cream einspanner which was fairly filling and quite interesting as there are chunks of banana at the bottom that may be hard to get out with a straw. The everything Kouign Amann was delicious - definitely a must get here. Very creamy, flavorful, and has a light hint of sweetness. The cheese twist was also good but not as outstanding. There's extremely limited seating so assume you take it to-go and enjoy it outside or wait for a table to open up
Yummy baked goodies but not necessarily a place I would go out of my way for. Their pastries have good flavor and the lamination is great. Make sure to get it heated for optimal flavor and texture. I wanted to try their regular plain croissant but they apparently sell out around 12pm. Of the 3 pastries I got, everything bagel kouign amann was my favorite followed by the pain au chocolat. I would skip the gochujang cheese twist since I don't think it really showcases their pastry dough and technique enough although it is still good. Their soba olive oil latte was very interesting in a good way although it got heavy for me pretty quickly. Chai latte was on the not-so-sweet side with strong spice flavors but nothing standout. Line can look long but it moves pretty quickly. It's at the north end of the Ferry Building. Essentially no parking in the area, as expected. Overall, this place is not in my top 3-5 San Francisco bakeries, but I might come back to try their plain croissant one day.
Parachute at the Ferry Building is getting buzz for creating some of SF's best pastry and croissants. We avoided lines by coming in off hours, on a weekday. Everything is takeaway here, and the modern orange packaging is as well designed as the beautiful pastries. Laminated pastry and croissants here are sculptural and tall. My duck prosciutto, turkey fig and brie pastry was firmer (and harder and flakier) than expected, likely because the pastry is compressed tightly to hold its shape. The filling was a delicious combo of flavors.They also make croissant cubes, and other marvels. There are four small tables in the cafe. They serve coffee drinks, including a viral cold brew Banana Caramel Explainner, which I skipped because the pastry was already so rich. The kitchen is helmed by chef Nasir Armar, formerly pastry chef at Michelin starred Sorrel & Saison. The team here is friendly and polished. Definitely premium pricing on retail items: think $30 cookie creams and $40 jars of jam. Impressive craftsmanship on the pastry. read more

Was in the area and heard Parachute won the best croissant award. But at 11:00 am, all plain croissants were sold out! What??? Then I just have to try something else. I was picking up something for my lunch and snack, some dessert for a relative. Holy moly! Everything I ordered was delicious. Wagyu Reuben -- wow a Reuben in a croissant. Genius. Delicious!!! My fav is the everything kouign aman. Think an everything bagel and sweet cream cheese as a perfect kouign aman. I could eat this every day!!! The pan au chocolate was a fun shape. And made it so easy to eat. Loved it. Morning bun --- wow! Soft pieces to pull apart and such a comforting bun. The cookies were good but the pastries I felt outshined the cookies. I need to go back. To try a plain croissant and to get more of my favs. It's prob a good thing I live across the bay-- too delicious! read more
Parachute Bakery won the 2026 Best Croissant in San Francisco title and the Best Original Creation for their S'more Croissant filled with chocolate and pine needle infused marshmallow, topped with graham crackers. This cafe in the Ferry Building offers a rotating assortment of unique viennoiserie plus a handful of specialty drinks. You want a croissant and maybe another one of their flaky treats if you are eating there. The Yuzu, Olive Oil, Black Sugar or the Everything Kouign Amann are safe bets. You also want the Soba Cha Shakerado, a shaken iced coffee drink with a buckwheat-tea cream top, olive oil richness, and a salted finish. Toasty, nutty, roasted grain perfection. Sitting by the water with a perfect drink and perfectly flaky, buttery pastry is the perfect treat. read more
Great addition to the ferry building. Is it SF's best bakery as some people claim? I'd reserve that superlative for Sol Bakery in Nopa or Tano in Fidi. Parachute is still generally worth the wait though: the pain au chocolate was flawless, the pimento swirl was really interesting as a savory snack as was the asparagus with fennel jam (wouldn't necessarily order this again but interesting to try once). Was happy to see masala chai on the menu and was glad that it was spice forward - could have used a little more cardamom imo. The cookies were a major let down though and were way too thick: the yuzu did not go well with the black sesame in this particular case and even the regular choc chip was off! read more

Parachute Bakery is one of San Francisco's hottest new bakeries. It opened on September 4, 2025, in the Ferry Building and quickly earned a reputation for serving some of the best croissants in the Bay Area. In 2026, it won top honors in the Bay Area's prestigious croissant competition, cementing its status as a must-visit destination for pastry lovers. Michael is in charge, and Michelle leads the front-of-house team. Michelle is exceptionally knowledgeable about every product they offer. She also has a great smile. My wife was especially impressed by her expertise and the time she took to answer our questions. The pastries are beautifully crafted, buttery, and flaky, making them well worth the visit. If you're exploring San Francisco or visiting the Ferry Building, Parachute Bakery should definitely be on your list. read more
Line wasn't bad at all around opening, 8am, Saturday morning. Can also preorder online like 48 hours ahead of time with a 6 item minimum Fairly big menu, fairly high prices from like $7 - $18 for an item and very high quality. Not too much seating inside besides a couple tables but plenty nearby. Some curated food and cooking items like honeycomb, granola, mini bite sized croissants and baking recipes. Today I chose the wagyu pastrami croissant. It was very filling and tasty. A generous slab of pastrami was wrapped up by flaky croissant, so it tasted like a great croissant sandwich. I had very high expectations so it did leave me wanting a little bit more. read more

I won't even try this place on a weekend given the long lines. We happen to be there on a weekday and the line was much more manageable but still took about 15 minutes before we were able to place our order; took about another 20 minutes before we received our order. Picked up a Pain au Chocolat and the Wagyu Pastrami Reuben Croissant which they warmed up for us. Also ordered the Strawberries and Cream Cube, Cookies and Cream latte, and a Banana Einspanner. The croissants were flaky. Enjoyed the pastrami reuben and there was quite a bit of chocolate in the other. The cube was more bready, less flaky and I liked the strawberries and cream which were not too sweet. The latte and Einspanner were also good. We enjoyed the baked goodies and coffees, but probably wouldn't go out of our way and/or wait in a long line for them. read more

Only had room for 1dessert after dinner so I chose the chocolate croissant and it's definitely a different way of baking it. It is flaky and delicious but I prefer the traditional chocolate croissant. Will have to try their other pastries next time! read more
Cookie was good but not exceptional. I was expecting more since the cookie was $8.00. Way more than what I would be willing to pay for a cookie. I could hardly taste the black sesame in the cookie, it was over powered by sugar and the white chocolate toppings. read more
Stopped by Parachute Bakery at the Embarcadero and was impressed. The butter croissant was flaky, buttery, and especially delicious when it was fresh out of the oven. The Everything Kouign-Amann was the standout. It was a unique savory twist on a classic pastry, with a flavorful everything seasoning and a creamy cream cheese filling that made every bite memorable. Just wow. The PARACHUTE CHOCOLATE ENTREMET absolutely blew my mind. The chocolate was hard, the mousse pillowy, then something crunchy, and rich caramel all combined into an $18 heavenly experience. Absurd price but also an insane taste. No regrets. The black sesame yuzu cookie was yummy too, and definitely tasted of yuzu. The sobacha coffee was strong, savory, sweet, and rich. Honestly, everything about this place is heavenly and I'd go back to give them more money that I should and try everything else. read more
I was working from our San Francisco office which is 10 min. walk from the Ferry Building. I had bookmarked Parachute Bakery for so long! I'm so excited that I can finally try them. I arrived at around 1:00 pm ish on a Wednesday and there were 3 people in front of me. It's my lucky day! Before I dive in to the pastries, the shop is modern, super cute, and kind of fancy with their orange parachute logos on the napkin. Too bad I couldn't dine in but there are ample amount of tables and chairs. Pecan Financier - 10 out of 5! It looks like a bread stick shape with candied pecans on top. It taste like a moist cookie/cake. One bite of this, my mouth immediately wants to devour it. I wish I had bought more than one. This was incredible. I would drive 2 hours from Sacramento just to to buy this again! Gochjang Pimento Cheese Twist I probably wouldn't get this again but it was so interesting that I couldn't resist. It's a flat, flaky pasty with a kick. If you like spicy food, you will enjoy this. Matcha & Vanilla Basque Cheesecake - 9 out of 5! It's sold in this bamboo case with a lid. So adorable and chic! It's such a great idea because I couldn't finish it in one sitting. I put the lid back on and put it in the fridge for the next day. Guess what, it was still delicious the next day! I can't even begin to describe the taste. The matcha is noticeable but not bitter. Perfect cheesecake texture. This was phenomenal and probably the best cheesecake I have ever had. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in San Francisco and totally live up to the hype! read more

I stopped by parachute bakery around 1:30, so some items were no longer available but they still had the everything kouign amann. The pastry was slightly crispy and had a sweet glaze with everything seasoning on the outside and cream cheese on the inside. Overall, it was unique and tasty! read more
Glad to finally try Parachute Bakery, especially when there was hardly a line on a weekday morning! Went a bit ham with my purchase since I dont know when ill be in the area again without a big dumb line. I got a gochujang cheese wheel, wagyu pastrami croissant, everything seasoning kouign amann, a yuzu cream and black sugar croissant, chocolate chip cookie, and a pain au chocolat. And mistakes were made. Their pastries dont do well as time passes during the day, even if you pop it in the airframe or toaster. The filling is too moist to recreate that crispy and flaky texture. It's best to only get 1-2 pieces each trip. Or just enjoy the moment and dine in in their spacious cafe. My favorite piece was the pain au chocolat. The unusual shape gave a lot more texture and a bigger mess to eat. Its not as airy or overly sweet. Runner up would be the reuben. I love pickled things and there was a generous amount of sauerkraut. The croissant held up decently. I think i would need to try the kouign amann again, fresh next time. There was potential for it to be my utmost favorite, but the blob of cream cheese in the center made everything tasted like a Costco croissant with seasoning. Is this place worth a line? PARACHUTE!!! i am a mildly adventurous girl (i ziplined and talked to strangers) but i am not parachuting all the way to this bakery again. just kidding i just walked to the ferry building and waited 1 hr in line for slightly average bakes. no need to fly. this is a very trendy place - apparently #1 on xiaohongshu. the lines are crazy long and the instagram posts go wild. well i don't think it's worth the price or the wait. food: sesame yuzu - super unique combo. love the texture. citrus and deep nutty flavor combos go BOMB BOOM BOOM BOOM! 9/10 plum cubed croissant - first of all cubed croissants SUCK! i am not a minecraft villager! i deserve ergonomic pastry shapes designed for optimal bite and jaw flex! other than that great lamination, again another fruity and nutty combo. i think the cream has some sort of tea flavor that pairs very smoothly with the plum. 8.5/10 gochujang twist + everything kouign amann - nothing special idk. both of these have very currently trendy combos. IM SICK OF TRENDS! also despite being objectively yum, these pastries weren't inspiringly great. the gochujang was cheesy and savory though! and the kouign amann was filled with cream cheese and had an everything seasoning crust. i just ate them but didn't feel motivated to change my life around. 7.5/10 CHOCOLATE ENTREMET YOU LITTLE SUCKER. total ripoff. tastes like ferrero rocher and my tears since i'm broke. WAGYU PASTRAMI I WILL COME FIND YOU IN JAIL! how tf do you label something wagyu and it don't even taste like it. ugh. i hate trends. i guess they tasted good. idk. 6/10 i would only go if you are trapped by social media trends or if you are a real dedicated glutton. Waited 15 min in line and got a Wagyu pastrami croissant ($12) and a cappuccino ($6). The pastry was pretty but the pastrami was bland, sauerkraut was meh, and the croissant was disappointing. read more
My friend and I were wandering around the ferry building, we saw a huge line and figured there must be a good reason! Once we started reading about parachute bakery, we got really excited to try some of their famous pastries! I loved the almond croissant and the mango pastry. I was underwhelmed with the chocolate croissant. I love how everything is packaged! I Don't think that these are the best pastries I've ever had in my life, but they are quite delicious. read more
I was in Ferry building and no idea of this bakery. I only went in, because this bakery had the longest queue in entire building. Fortunately queue moved quickly. Parachute entremet was my favorite item here. It was also a bit expensive at $18. Chocolate layer was intense and was of high quality. Mouse inside was rich, with some caramel. Pain au chocolate was crispy and delicious. Banana and salted cream einspanner was my drink. Seems einspanner is a Viennese coffee concept. Coffee looked very good, but was too bitter for my taste. read more

Split among friends which is the best way to try a variety of pastries! What we got: -blueberry + sweet corn cake -blackberry croissant -wagyu pastrami reuben croissant -everything croissant -gochujang pimento cheese twist -grilled asparagus, fennel jam, whipped ricotta + ramp pesto -strawberries and cream cube (to take home) Top pastry: Wagyu pastrami reuben croissant!! I loved the thin slices of pastrami, so tasty!! The blueberry and sweet corn cake was a close second but everything else was really tasty!!! Total cost was ~$60 but since I split with a friend it was only $30 to try 6 pastries! I ordered a drink too. I enjoyed the chai I got! Thicker than I'm used to but I liked the level of spice! I'm also glad I only waited 5-10min in line for them. I'm not ready for a Butter&Crumbl kind of line atm. So this is a really good alternative. Such a beautiful day today. We went outside where the weather was nice and warm. It was a perfect day at the Ferry Plaza. read more
