I came here a few weeks back on a weekday, got two of their baked goods. All of the ones they had on display looked delicious but we weren't that hungry. 1. Grilled asparagus, fennel jam, whipped ricotta and ramp pesto pastry which is a croissant shell filled with the items listed. It had a good balance of flavors and despite all the filling the outside maintained its crispiness. 2. Regular Croissant had a nice lamination on the outside and very soft in the inside. Glad to finally try Parachute Bakery, especially when there was hardly a line on a weekday morning! Went a bit ham with my purchase since I dont know when ill be in the area again without a big dumb line. I got a gochujang cheese wheel, wagyu pastrami croissant, everything seasoning kouign amann, a yuzu cream and black sugar croissant, chocolate chip cookie, and a pain au chocolat. And mistakes were made. Their pastries dont do well as time passes during the day, even if you pop it in the airframe or toaster. The filling is too moist to recreate that crispy and flaky texture. It's best to only get 1-2 pieces each trip. Or just enjoy the moment and dine in in their spacious cafe. My favorite piece was the pain au chocolat. The unusual shape gave a lot more texture and a bigger mess to eat. Its not as airy or overly sweet. Runner up would be the reuben. I love pickled things and there was a generous amount of sauerkraut. The croissant held up decently. I think i would need to try the kouign amann again, fresh next time. There was potential for it to be my utmost favorite, but the blob of cream cheese in the center made everything tasted like a Costco croissant with seasoning. Is this place worth a line? I was working from our San Francisco office which is 10 min. walk from the Ferry Building. I had bookmarked Parachute Bakery for so long! I'm so excited that I can finally try them. I arrived at around 1:00 pm ish on a Wednesday and there were 3 people in front of me. It's my lucky day! Before I dive in to the pastries, the shop is modern, super cute, and kind of fancy with their orange parachute logos on the napkin. Too bad I couldn't dine in but there are ample amount of tables and chairs. Pecan Financier - 10 out of 5! It looks like a bread stick shape with candied pecans on top. It taste like a moist cookie/cake. One bite of this, my mouth immediately wants to devour it. I wish I had bought more than one. This was incredible. I would drive 2 hours from Sacramento just to to buy this again! Gochjang Pimento Cheese Twist I probably wouldn't get this again but it was so interesting that I couldn't resist. It's a flat, flaky pasty with a kick. If you like spicy food, you will enjoy this. Matcha & Vanilla Basque Cheesecake - 9 out of 5! It's sold in this bamboo case with a lid. So adorable and chic! It's such a great idea because I couldn't finish it in one sitting. I put the lid back on and put it in the fridge for the next day. Guess what, it was still delicious the next day! There is plenty of benches right outside to look out in the bay while you eat, They were recently awarded best croissant, it's good but i thin I still have to give my personal view to Arsicault. Wow, we had an even better experience eating their pastries fresh in person, compared to having someone bring us a to go box. This place definitely lives up to the hype and is worth waiting in line for. And the wait wasn't even that bad - on a Sunday afternoon we waited maybe 10 mins in line and then about 5 mins for our order. What they make varies a lot depending on day or month. Several things we loved last time weren't available, such as the Flan Tart and Shakshuka Croissant. They also sell out of popular items early, such as their Wagyu Pastrami. Items we really liked this time that we'd get again: * Pain au Chocolat - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the shape is also better than most others out there since you get chocolate in every bite. * Clam Chowder Bowl - better than any typical bread bowl and soup, and surprisingly loaded with chowder * Everything Kouign Amann - very onion and full of cream cheese, also the sweetness of the caramelized outside works surprisingly well. The Gochujang Pimento Cheese Twist was good, but I could pass on it next time if it meant getting something else. Only small minus would be their drinks, which are pricey and small and just okay, so I'd get coffee elsewhere next time. When I was finally served and able to make my selection, I tried to get a mix of sweet and savoury items, and with different textures, to share. Like many things in SF, it did feel a bit pricey, but that's to be expected, right? Needless to say, everything was excellent! I was so excited to check out Parachute. Michelin-chef team, very hyped, and I was especially excited for their very special ergonomic Chocolate Croissant. On a Friday around noon, there's no line, it's our lucky day. We're at the ferry building - we sat outside looking at the bay, and it's a gorgeous day. I took a bite. It's the best croissant ever. My friend takes a bite, she agrees. I'm excited to devour this whole thing. THEN A SEAGULL FLIES BEHIND ME, SNATCHES THE CROISSANT, AND FLIES AWAY. I'M ROBBED AT DAYLIGHT. I'm not really a bakery guy bc I've rareelllyyy encountered bread or pastry where it's worth waiting in a line. The workers were really nice - but the pastry was dry, yet the layers stuck together, and just didn't have any pizazz. I wish they didn't topple it upside down for me :( - clam chowder bowl - 3.5/5 - they warmed it up for us and that helped. - chocolate croissant - 5/5 - too good and the innovative shape helped even out the chocolate filling in each bite - vanilla passionfruit cube - 5/5 - i am so glad our friends recommended this and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. The flavors of the cream were unique and paired well with the flaky crust - banana salted cream coffee - 4/5 - too heavy but good to share. The place is expensive and casual. I got into line on a whim and unexpectedly walked out with almost $50 worth of pastries and a coffee. I had to stop myself from getting more! Safe to say, it was worth it. I ordered the parachute entremet, almond croissant, and a banana coffee drink. The coffee drink was ok. The pastries though - amazing! This is probably my favorite almond croissant that I've had. It had flaky, crunchy layers with a bit of cream filling. So yummy! We ordered the parachute entremet because we've never had something like it. It was very rich and decadent - would be paired well with an espresso. The hype here is well worth it. The packaging and branding all around is so cute. Try going after lunch time - the line seems to be much shorter. I got into line around 2pm on a Saturday and there were 10 people ahead of me. read more

I am very picky when it comes to bakeries, most especially when it comes to the croissants. Parachute is the one place where I consistently go back to every time. Not just because it's on my route to catch the ferry in the afternoons, but because it is so good!! I think I have tried only a handful of items because I'm a creature of habit. Here's what I have had so far: Pain AU Chocolate - not traditional in the sense of shape. I see how it can be pricey for how small it is, but worth it! Everything Kougin Amann - THIS is my all time favorite. I get it every time. There's different bakeries that sell their version of something similar. I went to a place in San Mateo a few weekends ago, and it was ok. Parachute is the fan favorite! The carmelized coating around it, the scallions in the cream cheese. Ugh so delish! Clam Chowder Danish - this was a seasonal special a few months ago I think? At first when I ordered it, I was hesitant. BUT, after that first bite? Holey Moley. I was in love! Gochujang Pimiento Cheese Twist - it's a hit or miss with me for pimiento. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don't. When my husband picked this out, I wasn't too interested. He insisted that I take a bite. I did and boy was I wrong. The pimiento flavor is not overpowering. It's there and amazing. The pastry itself is prefecture made and I was in heaven! Soba Cha Shakerato - my go to. I love it. Enough said. lol I always speak very highly about this place to anyone who asks me about where to go for good pastries.
