Parachute Bakery won the 2026 Best Croissant in San Francisco title and the Best Original Creation for their S'more Croissant filled with chocolate and pine needle infused marshmallow, topped with graham crackers. This cafe in the Ferry Building offers a rotating assortment of unique viennoiserie plus a handful of specialty drinks. You want a croissant and maybe another one of their flaky treats if you are eating there. The Yuzu, Olive Oil, Black Sugar or the Everything Kouign Amann are safe bets. You also want the Soba Cha Shakerado, a shaken iced coffee drink with a buckwheat-tea cream top, olive oil richness, and a salted finish. Toasty, nutty, roasted grain perfection. Sitting by the water with a perfect drink and perfectly flaky, buttery pastry is the perfect treat.

Made it to this spot but unfortunately menu options were limited that day. We got a drink and cookie. Limited seating. Friendly service.

I came here a few weeks back on a weekday, got two of their baked goods. All of the ones they had on display looked delicious but we weren't that hungry. 1. Grilled asparagus, fennel jam, whipped ricotta and ramp pesto pastry which is a croissant shell filled with the items listed. It had a good balance of flavors and despite all the filling the outside maintained its crispiness. 2. Regular Croissant had a nice lamination on the outside and very soft in the inside. Overall the quality and taste of the pastries are delicious, would definitely come back again, but it is a bit pricy.

Glad to finally try Parachute Bakery, especially when there was hardly a line on a weekday morning! Went a bit ham with my purchase since I dont know when ill be in the area again without a big dumb line. I got a gochujang cheese wheel, wagyu pastrami croissant, everything seasoning kouign amann, a yuzu cream and black sugar croissant, chocolate chip cookie, and a pain au chocolat. And mistakes were made. Their pastries dont do well as time passes during the day, even if you pop it in the airframe or toaster. The filling is too moist to recreate that crispy and flaky texture. It's best to only get 1-2 pieces each trip. Or just enjoy the moment and dine in in their spacious cafe. My favorite piece was the pain au chocolat. The unusual shape gave a lot more texture and a bigger mess to eat. Its not as airy or overly sweet. Runner up would be the reuben. I love pickled things and there was a generous amount of sauerkraut. The croissant held up decently. I think i would need to try the kouign amann again, fresh next time. There was potential for it to be my utmost favorite, but the blob of cream cheese in the center made everything tasted like a Costco croissant with seasoning. Is this place worth a line? I'd wait 15 min tops. SF has plenty of good bakeries all over.

I have been wanting to try this bakery forever!

I was working from our San Francisco office which is 10 min. walk from the Ferry Building. I had bookmarked Parachute Bakery for so long! I'm so excited that I can finally try them. I arrived at around 1:00 pm ish on a Wednesday and there were 3 people in front of me. It's my lucky day! Before I dive in to the pastries, the shop is modern, super cute, and kind of fancy with their orange parachute logos on the napkin. Too bad I couldn't dine in but there are ample amount of tables and chairs. Pecan Financier - 10 out of 5! It looks like a bread stick shape with candied pecans on top. It taste like a moist cookie/cake. One bite of this, my mouth immediately wants to devour it. I wish I had bought more than one. This was incredible. I would drive 2 hours from Sacramento just to to buy this again! Gochjang Pimento Cheese Twist I probably wouldn't get this again but it was so interesting that I couldn't resist. It's a flat, flaky pasty with a kick. If you like spicy food, you will enjoy this. Matcha & Vanilla Basque Cheesecake - 9 out of 5! It's sold in this bamboo case with a lid. So adorable and chic! It's such a great idea because I couldn't finish it in one sitting. I put the lid back on and put it in the fridge for the next day. Guess what, it was still delicious the next day! I can't even begin to describe the taste. The matcha is noticeable but not bitter. Perfect cheesecake texture. This was phenomenal and probably the best cheesecake I have ever had. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in San Francisco and totally live up to the hype!

Went on a weekday so there wasn't much of a line, and they still had a lot of pastries to choose from! They have a display showing what they have available. Seating-wise, they have their own indoor dining area, or outside has general Ferry Building spots to sit at with the view of the bay. Everything was crispy, flakey, and very filling! - Everything Kouign Amann (9/10) I love a good everything bagel and everything croissant, and the everything kougin amann was everything I could have wanted and more! It was densely packed with cream cheese, a little too much cream cheese, which offset the balance of pastry-to-cream ratio. - Pain au Chocolat: (10/10) Its shape being a log made it so neat to eat and everything worked right! - Wagyu Pastrami Reuben Croissant: (7/10) I wanted to love it more than I did, I think it would have been better if it was warmed up but they don't recommend it.

Split among friends which is the best way to try a variety of pastries! What we got: -blueberry + sweet corn cake -blackberry croissant -wagyu pastrami reuben croissant -everything croissant -gochujang pimento cheese twist -grilled asparagus, fennel jam, whipped ricotta + ramp pesto -strawberries and cream cube (to take home) Top pastry: Wagyu pastrami reuben croissant!! I loved the thin slices of pastrami, so tasty!! The blueberry and sweet corn cake was a close second but everything else was really tasty!!! Total cost was ~$60 but since I split with a friend it was only $30 to try 6 pastries! I ordered a drink too. I enjoyed the chai I got! Thicker than I'm used to but I liked the level of spice! I'm also glad I only waited 5-10min in line for them. I'm not ready for a Butter&Crumbl kind of line atm. So this is a really good alternative. Such a beautiful day today. We went outside where the weather was nice and warm. It was a perfect day at the Ferry Plaza.

My wife and I dropped by parachute today, the line was pretty long but it only took like 20 minutes to get through it and receive our order. There is plenty of benches right outside to look out in the bay while you eat, They were recently awarded best croissant, it's good but i thin I still have to give my personal view to Arsicault. I didn't really enjoy the wagyu pastrami out just felt unbalance. The asparagus pastry was great though, and my favorite thing we ordered. The blueberry tart was very pretty. The croissant was good, very flakey and you can see the even lamination

    Chris R.

We were here at the ferry building maybe about last week or so at parachute the line moves very fast and quick. They have this drink. It's really good and you also have this Matcha. The ambience is really nice like I walked into a modern upscale coffee restaurant/bar. I would definitely come here again

A super popular upscale bakery in the Ferry building. Be prepared to wait at least 15-20min on weekends. Strawberries and cream cube croissant: I wished it had more strawberry flavors built into the croissant. Would skip next time. Yuzu, olive oil and black sugar croissant: Very rich and yuzu flavors are quite prominent. Would recommend sharing this one. Everything kouign amann: Great crispy layers and has the everything seasoning you would expect. Overall, the flavors were inventive, but not sure if I would recommend traveling out of your way to grab them, especially for their price and wait, but I'm glad I tried it.

Wow, we had an even better experience eating their pastries fresh in person, compared to having someone bring us a to go box. This place definitely lives up to the hype and is worth waiting in line for. And the wait wasn't even that bad - on a Sunday afternoon we waited maybe 10 mins in line and then about 5 mins for our order. What they make varies a lot depending on day or month. Several things we loved last time weren't available, such as the Flan Tart and Shakshuka Croissant. They also sell out of popular items early, such as their Wagyu Pastrami. Items we really liked this time that we'd get again: * Pain au Chocolat - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the shape is also better than most others out there since you get chocolate in every bite. * Clam Chowder Bowl - better than any typical bread bowl and soup, and surprisingly loaded with chowder * Everything Kouign Amann - very onion and full of cream cheese, also the sweetness of the caramelized outside works surprisingly well. The Gochujang Pimento Cheese Twist was good, but I could pass on it next time if it meant getting something else. Only small minus would be their drinks, which are pricey and small and just okay, so I'd get coffee elsewhere next time. Seating is very limited, so you'll have to keep an eye out like a hawk if you want a seat to eat there. They have a variety of cute merchandise for sale too such as shirts, hoodies, etc.

Parachute Bakery is such a cute stop inside the Ferry Building, especially if you want a quick pastry and coffee break while walking around the waterfront. I tried their sesame cookie and my friend got a cacao latte, and both felt fun and memorable. The sesame cookie had a rich, nutty flavor with a slightly dramatic dark color, and the white chocolate on top gave it a nice sweet contrast. It was easy to share and made a great little treat between errands, sightseeing, or catching up with a friend. I also loved the presentation and atmosphere. The bakery counter has a warm, modern feel, and the San Francisco cards and Golden Gate Bridge designs nearby made the whole corner feel very local and charming. It is a nice place to pause, enjoy something sweet, and take in the Ferry Building vibe. Great spot for a casual pastry stop, a light coffee break with quick service, or a small treat before exploring the Embarcadero.

I tried the regular croissant, the almond croissant, and the kouign-amann. My favorite was 100% the almond croissant. All were amazing but the flavors and textures were truly exceptional. The flakiness, the caramelization, the perfect balance of flavors. I wished I had ordered 10 more. Also, the staff were so kind, the line moved quickly, and bonus: all the items freeze exceptionally well!

For someone to stake their cred on the line and vouched for the kougn-amann, I am def up for this challenge. We took a Waymo which is the coolest car I ever rode in. This bakery location was pretty far from the hotel, but since our friend said this is the one she often visited, so off we went. The surrounding area for this location was nice and seemed to be in a good neighborhood. Since there is no seating (which is a pity), I bought a cup of hot chocolate from next door and we sat at their seatings. Hence no eating of ambiance here. SERVICE 5/5 I have to say the staff here worked really fast despite the line. They were very efficient but not lacking the basic friendly vibe. FOOD 4/5 Kouign-amann 3/5 Sadly, my friend's cred was gone. It was just an ok kouign-amann. There was not enough sugar and I def have better kouign-amann elsewhere. Mademoiselle Louise in Houston had one of the top kouign-amann I had evereaten. It was in year 2020 and I could still remember the wonderful kouign-amann there. Savory scone 5/5 Luckily I got to try the savory scone which was very flavorful and scrumptious. Highly recommended. Our friend took a bite of the kouign-amann she bought to bring home, she commented yea it was not very good, tasted diff. My brother had a butter croissant, and commented it was flakey and pillow-y at the same time. However, it lacked of a good butttet taste. Perhaps that was the reason the kouign-amann I had paled in comparison to those I ever had, which were usually made of French butter like Elle & Vrie and other gourmet butter. I would still recommend this bakery and the best time I would get the savory scone.

My friend has gone to the other location a few times and said the other one was better, but this is my one off experience with Arizmendi. Ranked from best to worst, we got the: - almond croissant: kinda dense for a croissant but simple, lots of filling - daily pizza which was triple mushroom with a sesame ginger vinaigrette: a little gimmicky, smelled stronger than it tasted, not bad but wouldn't reorder, kind of dry but love the crust - cheese roll: dry as is but probably better warmed up, tasted like the pizza crust - chocolate mint cookie: very crispy edge with a softer middle, personally was too crunchy for me bc I like a softer cookie, definitely needed more mint - cowgirl cookie: letdown, had high expectations but this was super dry and needed more mixins Open to trying more pastries here because there is a large variety and wish the daily pizza flavor on our visit was better.
