On the same meandering that took Sarah and I to Blick down the street in our neighborhood, we ended up at Vocabulary. I've seen it many times when I was on my Papalecco kick (prior to our move to Little Italy) but they were never open as I was there way too early, or just too late. I like boutiques like this, and I like them close to me so that when I inevitably procrastinate in buying gifts for friends, family, and coworkers, I have someplace that I'm sure fire going to find something at. I like boutiques like this even more when they're affordable. And when the variety is great. Their clothes are great, men and womens' alike. The home decor is cool, and the gifty things are neat too. I did spot a sweet photo called "French Cat" or something like that by a local photog, Terri Rippee, that I want on my wall. In a few paychecks, if it's still there and still available, I'm gonna buy it. And hang it. On my wall. Great to have you in the neighborhood Vocabulary! Tucked away on Cedar Street, next to Pappalecco and fairly close to Queenstown Public House. You know where I'm going with this! A perfect place to peruse after your Sunday Brunch with a loved one or girlfriends. My go to place for unique, feminine jewelry. Their clothes err on the pricier side, but it is a boutique. Great place to search for a cocktail/day time dress for weddings and the like. I bought an off shoulder coral dress, and since then I've purchased a few more jewelry pieces. The owner & Dani are extremely helpful and friendly. I always have a personalized experience here, and love to get second opinions from them. I love this little boutique. It's a little too hipster for me, which is the reason I haven't bought any clothes here but I really like their jewelry selection. I bought 2 of my favorite necklaces here. I also like their art and home decor. I saw a painting of a sock monkey in a Starfleet uniform and I had to have it. It's nice to know that nerds have a place in hipsterland. Also, from what I understand, most of the stuff they sell is from local designers, which I really like. I've been to Vocabulary (formerly Station) twice since it changed to the new owner last fall, and both experiences have been wonderful. I find that San Diego is lacking in great clothing boutiques so it's nice to come across a shop like Vocabulary. The on-trend pieces are surprisingly well-priced with most pieces ranging from $50-100, and great sale items for $50 and less. Love this place and will definite visit regularly! read more

I absolutely adore this boutique, and the fact that it's one block from our apartment is extremely dangerous for my bank account. Right when you walk in you are immediately relaxed, it's almost like a day spa experience shopping there. The colors are calm & soothing and the layout is perfect. So many boutiques try to jam all kinds of crap inside, but this place has it just right, making shopping here such a pleasant experience. They have a wonderful selection of affordable jewelry, most of which is under $40 and some pieces are even under $20. They also have tons of adorable tops, skirts, shorts & jeans as well as fun stationary, candles and such. Overall, a great place to find a little something for yourself or a gift. With oodles of funky, on-trend jewelry and heaps of gorgeous clothing, if I had to choose one place to shop while visiting San Diego, it would hands-down be Vocabulary. The buyer/owner has exquisite taste in all things feminine - floaty tops, flattering jeans, sleek dresses and fun rompers to frolic through the city any time of the day. What I really, really love is the selection of accessories - she just has an eye for awesome jewelry and I always walk out with something I absolutely covet and cannot wait to wear. The best part? Everything in this shop is super-affordable. I rarely flip a tag and see anything over $150, which is a miracle considering how well-made and beautiful each and every item is. I had heard this was one of the best boutiques in SD. But there was very little selection in stock, and what was, was super run of the mill and unexciting. For example, the men's selection was solely French connection- why do I need a small boutique to get a major brand like FC? The women's selection wasn't much better. I love little boutique shops, and this one is pretty cute. the set up is really cozy and sweet, and the people that work there are super nice. you will find cute pieces for your closet, or even a nice necklace. i will say that i think that it is priced a little too high for some of the stuff, but what do i know, i just like a good deal when it comes down to it. i always leave there wanting something but, just cant part with spending that much money on something that i know i can get elsewhere for less. good for gifts or unique little treasures :) read more

Wow! What a beautiful boutique. This store is under new management and the NEW owner is so friendly and welcoming. They have a great selection of clothing, home decor, jewlry and handmade baby blankets and onesies. The women's clothing is WELL PRICED, hip, unique and fresh. I love going in to see what new styles they have. And every time I buy something I know it's special and not something that everyone else has. As a new mother I have to say that the handmade baby stuff is GREAT! They do custom onesies and the blankets are the PERFECT size for swaddling. I can't find blankets big enough anywhere else.
